Embrittlement Fracture in a 17-4 PH Stainless Steel after Aging at 400°C

The embrittlement fracture mechanism caused by microstructural evolution of 17-4 PH stainless steel at long term aging was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The solution treated specimen consists largely of lath martensite with a small fraction of elongated δ-ferrite. The spherical particles existed a little in the martensite matrix, while no precipitates were present in the δ-ferrite at the solution treated specimen as non-aging. The precipitation of Fe-Cu in the δ-ferrite causes the aged hardening after long term aging accormpanied by decreases in elongation and charpy V-notch energy absorption. The increased fraction of brittle fracture on the fractured surface by impact and tensile test reveals that the embrittlement of the 17-4 PH alloys during long term aging is mainly caused by the precipitation hardening in the δ-ferrite matrix.

Background: Endophytic fungi play an important role in balancing the ecosystem and boosting host growth. In the present study, we investigated the endophytic fungal diversity of healthy Panax notoginseng and evaluated its potential antimicrobial activity against five major phytopathogens causing rootrot of P. notoginseng. Methods: A culture-dependent technique, combining morphological and molecular methods, was used to analyze endophytic fungal diversity. A double-layer agar technique was used to challenge the phytopathogens of P. notoginseng. Results: A total of 89 fungi were obtained from the roots, stems, leaves, and seeds of P. notoginseng, and 41 isolates representing different morphotypes were selected for taxonomic characterization. The fungal isolates belonged to Ascomycota (96.6%) and Zygomycota (3.4%). All isolates were classified to 23 genera and an unknown taxon belonging to Sordariomycetes. The number of isolates obtained from different tissues ranged from 12 to 42 for leaves and roots, respectively. The selected endophytic fungal isolates were challenged by the root-rot pathogens Alternaria panax, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, Phoma herbarum, and Mycocentrospora acerina. Twenty-six of the 41 isolates (63.4%) exhibited activity against at least one of the pathogens tested. Conclusion: Our results suggested that P. notoginseng harbors diversified endophytic fungi that would provide a basis for the identification of new bioactive compounds, and for effective biocontrol of notoginseng root rot.

With the progress of music digitalization, various styles of music have been produced, and effective classification of music has become an important research direction. In this research, a model for piano-music style classification was constructed based on big data mining and machine learning algorithms. The input music signal was dealt with using framing, signal enhancement, and windowing. The Meldor Frequency Coefficient (MFC) and emotional features in the signal were extracted and fused to obtain combined features. The extracted feature vectors were input into a Deep Belief Network (DBN) for training and then a hidden Markov model (HMM) for classification and recognition. However, it was found that during the HMM training process, the algorithm produces large differences in the randomly selected initial matrix parameters, which cause the results to be trapped at a local optimum and affect the accuracy of model classification and recognition. To optimize the parameters, a genetic algorithm was used to optimize the classification model. The average Relative Percent Difference (PRD) was 2.402, the run time was 2.117 s, and the accuracy was 97.074%, which means the model can efficiently and accurately classify piano music styles.

Aims: The characteristic of associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS) carries high mortality and morbidity. There is room for improvement. We suggest Terminal Branches Portal Vein Embolization (TBPVE) as a way to compart the liver. As a result, only a single surgical operation is required. This method is termed Terminal branches portal vein Embolization Liver Partition Planned hepatectomy (TELPP). Methods: Patients with unresectable primary or metastatic liver tumor were performed with TELPP. The procedure of TELPP was that in addition to PVE, embolization agent was infused to the terminal branches of portal vein of S5,S8 or S4. CT scan was taken one or two weeks later, and standard liver volume(SLV), FLR and FLR/SLV are calculated. Two weeks later when the FLR and liver function is appropriate, open or laparoscopic hepatectomy is performed. Results: The study included 11patients including hepatocellular carcinoma: n =8, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: n = 1, hilarcholangiocarcinoma: n =1, colorectal liver metastasis: n =1. After a waiting period of 14 days, the volume of theFLR had increased from 382mlto 578ml, representing a median volume increase of 51% (range =32.5%-86.7%). Of the 11patients with hepatectomy, right hemihepatectomy (n=2), extended right hemihepatectomy (n=5), right trisecmentectomy(2), extended left hemihepatectomy (n=1) and left trisecmentectomy(1). No patient died, and no serve perioperative morbidity occurred. Conclusions: ALPPS and all modifications need two-stage operations with a high morbidity and mortality rate. It seems that TELPP is very promising. It has the merit of ALPPS as extraordinarily rapid increasement of FLRvolume, yet the morbidity and mortality is much lower, owing to the fact that unlike ALPPS, there is no two liver raw surfaces left behind in the abdominal cavity to produce bile leak, as only single surgical operation is required

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant disorder. Pseudoaneurysms formation and rupture is an unusual complication of neurofibromatosis. To date, pseudoaneurysm of the internal pudendal artery associated with NF-1 has not been reported. In this article, we present a 62-yr-old man with NF-1 suffering from spontaneous hematoma of the perinea and scrotum. A digital substraction angiography disclosed a ruptured pseudoaneurysm of the right internal pudendal artery, which was successfully managed with transcatheter embolization.
