Static Deflection Difference-Based Damage Identification of Hanger in Arch Bridges

Weiwei Wang,Mubiao Su,Chuang Wang 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.12

As the most critical force transmitting and bearing components of arch bridges, the hanger is also the weakest link of the bridge. Damage to the hanger leads to a redistribution of the internal forces and potentially even the collapse of the bridge. Therefore, this paper proposes a new damage detection method for hangers. Based on the principle of superposition, the relationship between the static deflection change and cable force is studied. Then, a new index is proposed for identifying the damage to arch bridge hangers. Numerical and laboratory investigations demonstrate that this method can successfully locate damage regardless of its location; moreover, the degree of damage can be relatively quantified. In addition, the method is easy to operate and suitable for practical engineering applications.

Efficacy of combination of endo-xylanase and xylan-debranching enzymes in improving cereal bran utilization in piglet diet

        Wang Weiwei,Zheng Dawen,Zhang Zhenzhen,Ye Hui,Cao Qingyun,Zhang Changming,Dong Zemin,Feng Dingyuan,Zuo Jianjun 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.11

Objective: This study was aimed to explore the efficacy of combination of endo-xylanase (Xyn) and xylan-debranching enzymes (arabinofuranosidase, Afd and feruloyl esterase, FE) in improving utilization of bran in piglet diet. Methods: In vitro experiments were firstly conducted to examine the enzymological properties of Xyn, Afd, and FE, concurrent with their effect on degradation of arabinoxylan (Abx) in bran. In vivo experiment was then implemented by allocating two hundred and seventy 35-d-old postweaning piglets into 3 groups (6 replicates/group), which received bran-containing diet supplemented with Xyn (1,600 U/kg) or its combination with Afd (0.8 U/kg) and FE (4 U/kg) or without enzyme. Results: Both Xyn, Afd, and FE are relatively stable against the changes in temperature and pH value. Combining Xyn with Afd and FE had a superiority (p<0.05) over Xyn alone and its combination with Afd or FE in promoting (p<0.05) degradation of Abx in different brans. Combined treatment with Xyn, Afd, and FE was more beneficial than Xyn alone to induce increasing trends (p<0.10) of average daily gain, final body weight and feed efficiency of piglets fed bran-containing diet. Moreover, combination of Xyn, Afd, and FE showed advantages (p<0.05) over Xyn alone in causing reductions (p<0.05) in diarrhea rate and cecal pH value, concurrent with increases (p<0.05) in cecal and colonic acetic acid and total volatile fatty acid concentrations, as well as cecal butyric acid concentration of piglets fed brancontaining diet. Conclusion: Combining Xyn with Afd and FE was more beneficial than Xyn alone in promoting degradation of Abx in bran, along with growth performance and intestinal volatile fatty acid profile of piglets received bran-containing diet. Thereby, combination of Xyn, Afd, and FE had a superior efficacy relative to Xyn alone in improving application of cereal bran in piglet diet. Semi-Rational Screening of Probiotics from the Fecal Flora of Healthy Adults against DSS-Induced Colitis Mice by Enhancing Anti-Inflammatory Activity and Modulating the Gut Microbiota

( Weiwei Wang ),( Wentao Xing ),( Sichen Wei ),( Qiaoying Gao ),( Xinliang Wei ),( Liang Shi ),( Yu Kong ),( Zhenhua Su ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2019 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.29 No.9

Ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic inflammatory bowel disease, substantially impacts patients’ health-related quality of life. In this study, an effective strategy for discovering high-efficiency probiotics has been developed. First, in order to survive in the conditions of the stomach and intestine, high bile salt-resistant and strong acid-resistant strains were screened out from the fecal flora of healthy adults. Next, the probiotic candidates were rescreened by examining the induction ability of IL-10 (anti-inflammatory factor) production in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis mice, and Lactobacillus sakei 07 (L07) was identified and selected as probiotic P. In the end, fourteen bifidobacterium strains isolated from stools of healthy males were examined for their antimicrobial activity. Bifidobacterium bifidum B10 (73.75% inhibition rate) was selected as probiotic B. Moreover, the colonic IL-6 and TNF-α expression of the DSS-induced colitis mice treated with L. sakei 07 (L07) - B. bifidum B10 combination (PB) significantly decreased and the IL-10 expression was up-regulated by PB compared to the DSS group. Furthermore, Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria decreased and Firmicutes increased in the DSS group mice, significantly. More interestingly, the intestinal flora biodiversity of DSS colitis mice was increased by PB. Of those, the level of B. bifidum increased significantly. The Bacteriodetes/Firmicutes (B/F) ratio increased, and the concentration of homocysteine and LPS in plasma was down-regulated by PB in the DSS-induced colitis mice. Upon administration of PB, the intestinal permeability of the the DSS-induced colitis mice was decreased by approximately 2.01-fold. This method is expected to be used in high-throughput screening of the probiotics against colitis. In addition, the L. sakei 07 - B. bifidum B10 combination holds potential in UC remission by immunomodulatory and gut microbiota modulation.

An X-ray Image Panorama System Using Robust Feature Matching and Per ception-Based Image Enhancement

Wang, Weiwei,Gwun, Oubong Korea Multimedia Society 2012 멀티미디어학회논문지 Vol.15 No.5

This paper presents an x-ray medical image panorama system which can overcome the smallness of the images that exist on a source computer during remote medical processing. In the system, after the standard medical image format DICOM is converted to the PC standard image format, a MSR algorithm is used to enhance X-ray images of low quality. Then SURF and Multi-band blending are applied to generate a panoramic image. Also, this paper evaluates the proposed SURF based system through the average gray value error and image quality criterion with X-ray image data by comparing with a SIFT based system. The results show that the proposed system is superior to SIFT based system in image quality.

Numerical analysis of wind field induced by moving train on HSR bridge subjected to crosswind

        Wang, Yujing,Xia, He,Guo, Weiwei,Zhang, Nan,Wang, Shaoqin Techno-Press 2018 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.27 No.1

To investigate the characteristics of the combined wind field produced by the natural wind field and the train-induced wind field on the bridge, the aerodynamic models of train and bridge are established and the overset mesh technology is applied to simulate the movement of high-speed train. Based on ten study cases with various crosswind velocities of 0~20 m/s and train speeds of 200~350 km/h, the distributions of combined wind velocities at monitoring points around the train and the pressure on the car-body surface are analyzed. Meanwhile, the difference between the train-induced wind fields calculated by static train model and moving train model is compared. The results show that under non-crosswind condition, the train-induced wind velocity increases with the train speed while decreases with the distance to the train. Under the crosswind, the combined wind velocity is mainly controlled by the crosswind, and slightly increases with the train speed. In the combined wind field, the peak pressure zone on the headstock surface moves from the nose area to the windward side with the increase of wind velocity. The moving train model ismore applicable in analyzing the train induced wind field.

        Weiwei Wu,Han Huang,Huarin Yin,Weidong Wang,Dongjin Wang 한국전자통신연구원 2006 ETRI Journal Vol.28 No.1

Impulse radio (IR) is a competitive candidate for ultra-wideband (UWB) systems. In this letter, we evaluated the coexistence of an IR-UWB system based on an orthogonal sinusoidal correlation receiver (OSCR) with an IEEE 802.11a WLAN through a detailed simulation. The coexistence performance of the two systems is characterized in terms of the receiver’s bit-error rates. Then, some approaches to interference mitigation are discussed.

        Wang Yibing,Wang Weiwei,Zhang Sheng,Jiang shouqun 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.12

Objective: This study examined the effects of dietary calcium (Ca) and non-phytate phosphorus (NPP) on performance, tibial characteristics, meat quality and plasma biochemical variables in yellow-feathered broilers during 85 to 105 d of age. Methods: A total of 720 heads of 85-d broilers were allocated into 9 groups and provided with three levels of Ca (0.65%, 0.75%, 0.85%), and NPP (0.25%, 0.30%, 0.35%) in diets for 21 d. Results: The final body weight (FW), average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI), and feed to gain ratio (F:G) were affected (p<0.05) by dietary Ca. From the quadratic regressions, the optimal level of Ca in diet were 0.71% for FW and ADG, and 0.67% for ADFI. Dietary Ca and NPP both significantly affected tibial breaking strength and density. From the quadratic regressions, the optimal level of Ca and NPP in diet were 0.81% and 0.37% for tibial density. The shear force of breast muscle of broilers given 0.75% or 0.85% Ca were lower than that in birds with 0.65% Ca and drip loss of birds given 0.65% or 0.75% Ca was lower than that in birds with 0.85% Ca (p<0.05). The drip loss of birds given 0.25% NPP was lowest among all NPP treatments (p<0.05). Calcium affected (p<0.05) the plasmal contents of phosphorus, osteocalcin (OC), parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin and the contents of OC and PTH were also influenced by dietary NPP. Conclusion: Dietary Ca and NPP level affected tibial characteristics, meat quality and biochemical variables in plasma of finisher-phase yellow-feathered broilers (85 to 105 d) and Ca also affected growth performance. Dietary 0.71% Ca and 0.30% NPP were enough for growth performance, while considering the growth performance, tibial characteristics, meat quality and biochemical variables together, 0.75% Ca and 0.37% NPP were recommended. Selection and evaluation of reference genes for quantitative real‐time PCR analysis in lac insect (Kerria lacca)

        Wang Weiwei,Ling Xiaofei,Bashir Nawaz Haider,Lu Qin,Zhang Jinwen,Li Tichu,Chen Hang 한국곤충학회 2022 Entomological Research Vol.52 No.2

The screening and identification of suitable reference genes are key steps in experiments involving the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. However, the reference genes of Kerria lacca, a lac insect with considerable economic significance, have not been investigated. In this study, we used five statistical algorithms (ΔCt, geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper, and RefFinder) to evaluate the stability of eight candidate reference genes (18S rRNA, 28S rRNA, β-ACT, EF1-α, RPL10, RPL13, RPS11,andRPS15) in different developmental stages and tissues of K. lacca and under dsRNA treatment. Our results showed that the most stable reference genes were 28S rRNA and RPS11 for the developmental stages, RPL13 and RPS11 for different tissues, and β-ACT and EF1-α for dsRNA treatments. Although the target genes FA S and 17β-HSD showed consistent expression profiles (alone or in combination) when normalized to the expression levels of the stable genes, those changed when the least stable reference gene (18S rRNA) was used. These results highlight that suitable reference genes should be chosen according to the specific experimental conditions used. The reliability and stability of different reference genes can provide a firm foundation for gene expression analysis in lac insects.
