Dietary apidaecin Api-PR19 addition enhances growth performance by regulating gut health and microbiota in broilers

        Wang Chenxu,Wang Xinrui,Liu Rui,Min Jiyang,Yang Xiaojun,Zhang Lixin 아세아·태평양축산학회 2024 Animal Bioscience Vol.37 No.9

Objective: This study investigated the effects of Apidaecin Api-PR19 as feed additive on growth performance, intestinal health, and small intestinal microbiota of broilers. Methods: A total of 360 1-d-old Arbor Acres broilers were randomly assigned to 3 groups with 6 replicates including control group with basal diet (CON), antibiotic growth promotor group with basal plus 10 mg/kg colistin sulfate and 50 mg/kg roxarsone (AGP), and antibacterial peptide group with basal diet plus 330 mg/kg Apidaecin Api-PR19 (ABP). The trial lasted 35 d.Results: Results showed that dietary Api-PR19 addition increased (p<0.05) the average daily feed intake, average daily gain and decreased (p<0.05) feed conversion ratio (FCR) during 1 to 21 d compared with the CON group. The digestibility of dry matter and crude protein were higher in AGP and ABP groups (p<0.05) where greater trypsin activity was detected in duodenum (p<0.05). The ratio of villus height to crypt depth (V/C) in duodenum and jejunum was increased at 35 d when broilers were given diets with ABP or AGP (p<0.05). Besides, ABP treatments up-regulated (p<0.05) the mRNA expression of <i>EAAT3, GLUT2, ZO-1</i>, and <i>Claudin-1</i> in duodenum of broilers at 35 d of age. The results of immunohistochemistry showed that ABP treatment significantly increased (p<0.05) duodenal secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) content. In addition, 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed that there were differences in the intestinal microbiota diversity and composition among three groups. Notably, the linear discriminant analysis effect size showed that <i>p_Firmicutes, g_Enterococcus, g_Carnobacterium, g_Kitasatospora</i>, and <i>g_Acidaminococcus</i> were dominant in ABP group. Redundancy analysis showed that these changes in gut microbiota in ABP group had correlation with growth performance, intestinal morphology, and content of sIgA.Conclusion: In general, these results indicated that dietary 330 mg/kg Apidaecin Api-PR19 supplementation promoted growth performance of broilers by improving intestinal development, nutrients absorption, immune function and modulating intestinal microbiota. • Molecular Cloning and Expression of Grass Carp MyoD in Yeast Pichia pastoris

Wang, Lixin,Bai, Junjie,Luo, Jianren,Chen, Hong,Ye, Xing,Jian, Qing,Lao, Haihua Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.1

MyoD, expressed in skeletal muscle lineages of vertebrate embryo, is one of muscle-specific basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors, which plays a key role in the determination and differentiation of all skeletal muscle lineages. In this study, a cDNA of grass carp MyoD was cloned and characterized from total RNA of grass carp embryos by RT-PCR. The full-length cDNA of grass carp MyoD is 1597 bp. The cDNA sequence analysis reveals an open reading frame of 825 bp coding for a protein of 275 amino acids, which includes a bHLH domain composed of basic domain (1-84th amino acids) and HLH domain (98-142th amino acids), without signal peptide. Then the MyoD cDNA of grass carp was cloned to yeast expression vector pPICZ$\alpha$A and transformed into P. pastoris GS115 strain, the recombinant MyoD protein with a molecular weight of about 31KD was obtained after inducing for 2d with 0.5% methanol in pH 8.0 BMGY medium, and the maximum yield was about 250 mg/L in shaking-flask fermentation. The results were expected to benefit for further studies on the crystal structure and physiological function of fish MyoD.

Reformability evaluation of blasting-enhanced permeability in in situ leaching mining of low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposits

        Wang Wei,Liang Xuanyu,Niu Qinghe,Wang Qizhi,Zhuo Jinyi,Su Xuebin,Zhou Genmao,Zhao Lixin,Yuan Wei,Chang Jiangfang,Zheng Yongxiang,Pan Jienan,Wang Zhenzhi,Ji Zhongmin 한국원자력학회 2023 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.55 No.8

It is essential to evaluate the blasting-enhanced permeability (BEP) feasibility of a low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit. In this work, the mineral composition, reservoir physical properties and rock mechanical properties of samples from sandstone-type uranium deposits were first measured. Then, the reformability evaluation method was established by the analytic hierarchy process-entropy weight method (AHP-EWM) and the fuzzy mathematics method. Finally, evaluation results were verified by the split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) experiment and permeability test. Results show that medium sandstone, argillaceous sandstone and siltstone exhibit excellent reformability, followed by coarse sandstone and fine sandstone, while the reformability of sandy mudstone is poor and is not able to accept BEP reservoir stimulation. The permeability improvement and the distribution of damage fractures before and after the SHPB experiment confirm the correctness of evaluation results. This research provides a reformability evaluation method for the BEP of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit, which contributes to the selection of the appropriate regional and stratigraphic horizon of the BEP and the enhanced ISL of the low-permeability sandstone-type uranium deposit.

MicroRNA-138 Suppresses Adipogenic Differentiation in Human Adipose Tissue-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells by Targeting Lipoprotein Lipase

        Yuting Wang,Lixin Lin,Yong Huang,Junjun Sun,Xueming Wang,Peng Wang 연세대학교의과대학 2019 Yonsei medical journal Vol.60 No.12

Purpose: Adipogenic differentiation of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) is critical to many disease-relateddisorders, such as obesity and diabetes. Studies have demonstrated that miRNA-138 (miR-138) is closely involved in adipogenesis. However, the mechanisms affected by miR-138 remain unclear. This work aimed to investigate interactions between miR-138and lipoprotein lipase (LPL), a key lipogenic enzyme, in AMSCs. Materials and Methods: Human AMSCs (hAMSCs) isolated from human abdomen tissue were subjected to adipogenic differentiationmedium. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot assay were applied to measure the expressionsof miR-138, LPL, and the two adipogenic transcription factors cytidine-cytidine-adenosine-adenosine-thymidine enhancerbinding protein alpha (C/EBPα) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ). The relationship between miR-138 and LPL was predicted utilizing the miRTarBase database and validated by dual luciferase reporter assay. Results: Showing increases in C/EBPα and PPARγ expression levels, hAMSCs were induced into adipogenic differentiation. Duringadipogenesis of hAMSCs, miR-138 expression was significantly downregulated. Overexpression of miR-138 by transfection inhibitedhAMSCs adipogenic differentiation in vitro. Mechanically, LPL was a target of miR-138. LPL expression was upregulated duringadipogenesis of hAMSCs, and this upregulation was reversed by miR-138 overexpression. Functionally, silencing of LPL by transfectionexerted similar inhibition of the expressions of C/EBPα and PPARγ. Meanwhile, LPL ectopic expression was able to partlyabolish the suppressive effect of miR-138 overexpression on adipogenic differentiation of hAMSCs. Conclusion: Upregulation of miR-138 inhibits adipogenic differentiation of hAMSCs by directly downregulating LPL.

Pyramid-like CdS nanoparticles grown on porous TiO2 monolith: An advanced photocatalyst for H2 production

        Du, Jimin,Wang, Huiming,Yang, Mengke,Li, Kaidi,Zhao, Lixin,Zhao, Guoyan,Li, Sujuan,Gu, Xiaolei,Zhou, Yalan,Wang, Le,Gao, Yating,Wang, Weimin,Kang, Dae Joon Pergamon Press 2017 Electrochimica Acta Vol. No.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Efficient production of H2 via solar-light-driven water splitting by a semiconductor-based photocatalyst without noble metals is crucial owing to increasingly severe global energy and environmental issues. However, many challenges, including the low efficiency of H2 evolution, low solar light absorption, excited electron–hole pair recombination, and slow transport of photoexcited carriers, must be resolved to enhance the H2 photoproduction efficiency and photocatalyst stability. Here, a two-step method is used to synthesize advanced H2-generating photocatalysts consisting of pyramid-like CdS nanoparticles grown on a porous TiO2 monolith, which show promising photocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction. Furthermore, the stability of the photocatalysts is examined through long-term tests to verify their good durability. Without noble metals as cocatalysts, the photocatalyst can reach a high H2 production rate of 1048.7μmolh−1 g−1 under UV–vis irradiation when the ratio of the CdS nanoparticles to TiO2 is 5mol%. This unusual photocatalytic activity arises from the wide-region light adsorption due to the narrow band gap of CdS, effective separation of electrons and holes due to conduction band alignment at the CdS–TiO2 interface, and favorable reaction sites resulting from the porous structure.</P>

Thermodynamics stability, electronic structures and spectroscopic properties of defects and Ce3+ ions in Y2O3

        Wang Yan,Wen Jun,Zheng Jiangyun,Deng Zhifeng,Zhou Yueyu,Jiang Guisheng,Xia Qiangsheng,He Enjie,Ning Lixin 한국물리학회 2021 Current Applied Physics Vol.26 No.-

Thermodynamic properties, electronic structures and spectroscopic properties of defects and Ce3+ in Y2O3 are studied by using the hybrid density functional theory associated with multi-reference configuration interaction ab-initio calculations. Thermodynamic transition energy levels of the easily generated oxygen vacancies in the host are analyzed according to HSE06-calculated formation energies, which may be conducive to interpretations of the persistent luminescence (PersL) of Y2O3-based phosphors. Besides, the locations of impurity states (caused by VO and Ce3+) in energy bands are obtained from derived density of states. Moreover, energies and oscillator strengths of 4f1 → 5d1 5 transitions of Ce3+ ions (at Y1 and Y2 sites) calculated from the CASSCF/CASPT2/ RASSI SO method agree reasonably well with experimental excitation spectra of Y2O3: Ce3+ phosphors, achieving the assignment of excitation spectra. The presented calculations can be applied to identify luminescent centers in Ce3+-doped phosphors and reveals possible native defects and their roles in the PersL of phosphors.

On Inferring and Characterizing Internet Routing Policies

Wang, Feng,Gao, Lixin The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2007 Journal of communications and networks Vol.9 No.4

Border gateway protocol allows autonomous systems(ASes) to apply diverse routing policies for selecting routes and for propagating reachability information to other ASes. Although a significant number of studies have been focused on the Internet topology, little is known about what routing policies network operators employ to configure their networks. In this paper, we infer and characterize routing policies employed in the Internet. We find that routes learned from customers are preferred over those from peers and providers, and those from peers are typically preferred over those from providers. We present an algorithm for inferring and characterizing export policies. We show that ASes announce their prefixes to a selected subset of providers to perform traffic engineering for incoming traffic. We find that the selective announcement routing policies imply that there are much less available paths in the Internet than shown in the AS connectivity graph, and can make the Internet extremely sensitive to failure events. We hope that our findings will help network operators in designing routing policies.

      • Multimode Retrieval of Breast Masses Based on Association Rules

Qian Wang,Yanan Lv,Lixin Song 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.2

Breast imaging case not only image low level features but also has image semantic features. In order to implement multimode retrieval of breast imaging, using feature selection algorithm based on association rules to select features, digging out the associated relationship between image low level features and image semantic features, and then taking advantage of association classification algorithm to get image visual semantic features, which reduced the semantic gap between image low level features and visual semantic features, at last, making similarity measure combined with low level features, to make multimode retrieval come true. As the results show, this method improve the performance of breast imaging case retrieval and provide more meaningful decision support for doctors.

Global Lagrange Stability for Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Cohen-Grossberg BAM Neural Networks with Time-varying Delays

        Jingfeng Wang,Lixin Tian,Zaili Zhen 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2018 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.16 No.4

This paper concerns the globally exponential stability in Lagrange sense for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy Cohen-Grossberg BAM neural networks with time-varying delays. Based on the Lyapunov functional method and inequality techniques, two different types of activation functions which include both Lipschitz function and general activation functions are analyzed. Several sufficient conditions in linear matrix inequality form are derived to guarantee the Lagrange exponential stability of Cohen-Grossberg BAM neural networks with time-varying delays which are represented by T-S fuzzy models. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.
