Molecular characterization of chemosensory protein genes in Bactrocera minax (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Wang Zhao‐Xiang,Qi Zhen‐hua,Chen Jian,Wang Fu‐Lian,Gui Lian‐You,Zhang Guo‐Hui 한국곤충학회 2021 Entomological Research Vol.51 No.7
Chemoreception is of great importance for survival of insects. Chemosensory proteins (CSPs) are believed to be involved in the perireceptor events of chemosensory system in many insect species, but this has not been clarified in the citrus fruit fly, Bactrocera minax, a serious dipteran pest of citrus crops. Previous studies indicated that four CSP genes were identified in many fly speices in Diptera. In the present study, we also identified four CSP genes in B. minax, namely BminCSP1–4, from a transcriptome database. All CSP proteins encoded by these genes bear the typical hallmarks of the CSP family: an N-terminal signal peptide and the four highly conserved cysteine residues. Phylogenetic analysis comparing with other dipteran CSPs indicated that dipteran CSPs may evolved from three ancestral CSP genes, and revealed the sequence diversities of BminCSPs and showed that BminCSP1–4 are clustered in separate groups, indicating the possibility of their contrasting function in B. minax. Furthermore, the tissue distribution of the four CSP genes in adult B. minax was analyzed by real-time quantitiative PCR. The results demonstrated that BminCSP3 are significantly transcriptionally enriched in antennae; BminCSP4 expressed primarily in heads; BminCSP1 and BminCSP2 showed high expressions in different tissues, such as antennae, abdomens and wings. Based on these findings, the different implications for the functions of BminCSPs are discussed. This study will offer a significant indication for further functional studies of the CSPs in B. minax
A Survey on Semantic Sensor Web: Sensor Ontology, Mapping and Query
Xiang Wang,Xiaoming Zhang,Mei Li 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.10
Sensor Network has been widely used in all fields, and a large number of heterogeneous data is produced. In order to make these data shared and integrated semantically, semantic web technology is introduced in the sensor network. In this paper, we make a comprehensive survey about Semantic Sensor Web (SSW) from the perspective of ontology, mapping and query respectively. Firstly, we present state of the art of SSW from three aspects: ontologies before SSN ontology, SSN ontology and the extensions of SSN ontology, in which the extensions of SSN ontology are introduced emphatically. Secondly, we discuss the mapping from the stream data to ontology and focus on the comparison of the mapping languages in order to find out the best mapping method of SSW. Thirdly, we describe the research status of stream data query languages and analyze the characteristics, the application fields, the related researches and tools of the query languages in detail. Finally, the future research directions of SSW are proposed.

OBJECTIVES: Proper blood lipid levels are essential for survival in older adults, but inconsistent relationships have been reported between blood lipids and all-cause mortality in the elderly. METHODS: This retrospective longitudinal study analyzed data from 1,067 Chinese older adults enrolled in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey collected in 2008 and followed up until death or December 31, 2018. The outcome was allcause mortality. Multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) with stratification by age (60-80, 80-100, or ≥ 100 years) for further analysis. The survival probability according to lipid profile quartiles was calculated using Kaplan-Meier curves and the log-rank test. RESULTS: The participants’ mean age was 84.84 years, and 57.0% were female. In total, 578 individuals died, and 277 were lost to follow-up. The mean total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were higher among those who died than among those who survived. Participants in the second HDL-C quartile and the highest LDL-C and triglyceride (TG) quartiles had 28% higher, 23% lower, and 49% lower risks of all-cause mortality, respectively. After further adjustment, the associations remained except for HDL-C, and additional associations were observed between all-cause mortality and the third TC and LDL-C quartiles and the second TG quartile (HR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.01 to 2.06; HR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.49 to 0.94; HR, 0.79; 95% CI, 0.62 to 0.99, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Older adults should maintain an LDL-C level of 1.91-2.47 mmol/L and a TG level of no less than 1.66 mmol/L.

Compression-Friendly Low Power Test Application Based on Scan Slices Reusing
Wang Weizheng,Wang JinCheng,Cai Shuo,Su Wei,Xiang Lingyun 대한전자공학회 2016 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.16 No.4
This paper presents a compression-friendly low power test scheme in EDT environment. The proposed approach exploits scan slices reusing to reduce the switching activity during shifting for test scheme based on linear decompressor. To avoid the impact on encoding efficiency from resulting control data, a counter is utilized to generate control signals. Experimental results obtained for some larger ISCAS’89 and ITC’99 benchmark circuits illustrate that the proposed test application scheme can improve significantly the encoding efficiency of linear decompressor.

A psychrotrophic bacterium, Arthrobacter sp. ON14, isolated from Antarctica, was shown to exhibit a high β-galactosidase activity at a low temperature. A genomic library of ON14 was constructed and screened for β-galactosidase genes on functional plates containing 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-β-D-galactopyranoside (X-gal) as the substrate. Two different β-galactosidase genes, named as galA, galB, were found in ON14. Computational analyses of the genes revealed that the encoded protein GalA belongs to family 2 of glycosyl hydrolysases and is a cold-active protein, whereas GalB belongs to family 42 of glycosyl hydrolysases and is a mesophilic protein. Reverse transcription analyses revealed that the expression of galA is highly induced at a low temperature (4℃) and repressed at a high temperature (28℃) when lactose is used as the sole carbon source. Conversely, the expression of galB is inhibited at a low temperature and induced at a high temperature. The purified GalA showed its peak activity at 15℃ and pH 8. The mineral ions Na+, K+, Mg2+, and Mn2+ were identified as enzyme activators, whereas Ca2+ had no influence on the enzyme activity. An enzyme stability assay revealed that the activity of GalA is significantly decreased when it is incubated at 45℃ for 2 h, and all its activity is lost when it is incubated at 50℃.

Wang, Zhi-Dong,Qiao, Yu-Lei,Tian, Xi-Feng,Zhang, Xue-Qing,Zhou, Shi-Xiang,Liu, Hai-Xiang,Chen, Ying Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9
Radiation pneumonitis and pulmonary fibrosis are the main complications with radiotherapy for thoracic neoplasms, directly limiting the efficient dose in clinical application and currently there are few medicines that effectively function as radioprotectants. However, a TLR5 agonist, CBLB502, was confirmed to have protective efficacy against hematopoietic and gastrointestinal radiation syndromes in mice and primates. This study points to a new direction for protection against thoracic radiation-induced pulmonary syndromes and skin injury by CBLB502. We utilized the TUNEL assay, pathological analysis and immunohistochemistry to obtain evidence thatCBLB502 could alleviate the occurrence of radiation pneumonitis and pulmonary fibrosis as well as radiation-induced skin injury. It may thus play a promising role in facilitating clinical radiotherapy of thoracic neoplasms.
