Developing a Cross Platform Server Monitoring Application : Some Issues and Experience
Babar Khan Tareen,Jung-Yeon Yang,Sang-goo Lee 한국정보과학회 2008 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.35 No.2
Server downtime can cause organizations financial losses and bad reputation. Server downtime can be caused by a number of reasons ranging from hardware failures to software glitches. Large scale organizations avoid server downtime by using large server farms that have thousands of servers for hosting web sites and web applications. Unfortunately not everyone can afford such server farms. Next best option is to minimize the downtime by fixing the problem, which caused the server to go down, as soon as possible. System Administrator can fix the problem at earliest if they get to know about the server failure. In this paper, we describe the experiences of developing and evaluating Server Monitor, a Server monitoring utility. Server Monitor has been built to provide a fast notification about service failures due to some reason be it network related issues, server crash or power failure. Server Monitor alerts system administrators by sending a SMS notification as soon as server fails to provide service.

The study discusses the strength development of fresh concrete using fuzzy logic on Electromechanical impedance(EMI) data collected through Piezoelectric(PZT) sensors. For gaining data to estimate real time strength development of concrete through sensors, 3 specimens of concrete were casted for experiment. The PZT sensors were embedded in experimented concrete to perform dual job of actuating and sensing. In this technique with poring of concrete the PZT material starts actuating to produce vibrations, for the same time these materials work as sensors and measure the dynamic responses of the vibrations. Thus, with development of concrete strength the resonant frequencies of EMI start changing. The process of measuring data was continued for every hour for 28 days, after getting EMI data, it was treated by fuzzy logic technique to get a clear strength curve for defining strength development pattern. The change observed in EMI data curve leads to estimating concrete strength.

In the mid of the December 2019, the virus has been started to spread from China namely Corona virus. It causes fatalities globally and WHO has been declared as pandemic in the whole world. There are different methods which can fit such types of values which obtain peak and get flattened by the time. The main aim of the paper is to find the best or nearly appropriate modeling of such data. The three different models has been deployed for the fitting of the data of Coronavirus confirmed patients in Pakistan till the date of 20th November 2020. In this paper, we have conducted analysis based on data obtained from National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad and produced a forecast of COVID-19 confirmed cases as well as the number of deaths and recoveries in Pakistan using the Logistic model, Gompertz model and Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average Model (ARIMA) model. The fitted models revealed high exponential growth in the number of confirmed cases, deaths and recoveries in Pakistan.

Influential trend that widely reflected the software engineering industry is service oriented architecture. Vendors are migrating towards cloud environment to benefit their organization. Companies usually offer products and services with a goal to solve problems at customer end. Because customers are more interested in solution of their problem rather than focusing on products or services. In software industry the approach in which customers' problems are solved by providing services is known as software as a service. However, software development life cycle encounters enormous changes when migrating software from product model to service model. Enough research has been done on the overall development process but a limited work has been done on the factors that influence requirements elicitation process. This paper focuses on those changes that influence requirement elicitation process and proposes a systematic methodology for transformation of software from product to service model in a successful manner. The paper then elaborates the benefits that inherently come along with elicitation process in cloud environment. The paper also describes the problems during transformation. The paper concludes that requirement engineering process turn out to be more profitable after transformation of traditional software from product to service model.

Purpose: Breast cancer is the commonest malignancy of females throughout the world with one million new cases each year. In Pakistan, the burden of breast cancer disease is high with late stage presentation being a common feature, more than half being stage III or stage IV. The objective of this study was to study various aspects, patterns and risk factors in breast cancer patients of Balochistan. Method: Present study was performed on 134 patients of breast cancer who were registered in CENAR. The patients were interviewed by providing a questionnaire. Informed consent was taken from all the patients who took part in this study after explanation of the study aims. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated andbiopsy reports were obtained from patients files. All the cases were classified with respect to age, gender, ethnic group (Baloch, Pashtoon, Punjabi, Afghani, Hazara) BMI, cancer type, cancer grade, hormonal status, side of the cancer, fertility and marital status. Results: Out of 134 patients, the most common ethnic group was Pashtoon with a total of 42 and the common age group was 41-50 years with a total of 51. Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) was the most common type, accounting for in 128 patients (95.5%) followed by invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). Conclusion: Pashtoon was the most common ethnic group, IDC was common type and most of the patients had an ER/PR positive hormonal status.
Brahol : A New Derivative of allo-Inositol from Stocksia brahuica
Yiqar Uddin Ahmad,Zulfiqar Ali,Muhammad Shaiq Ali,Muhammad Zahid,Rasool Bakhsh Tareen 한국생약학회 1998 Natural Product Sciences Vol.4 No.3
A new derivative of allo-inosital has been isolated from the aerial parts of Stocksia brahuica and named as brahol (1). The structure of 1 was elucidated with the help of extensive 2D-NMR spectroscopic techniques and identified as 5-O-methyl-allo-inositol. The structure was reconfirmed by acetate derivative (2).

Colucins A (1) and B (2), new flavonoids andcolucone (3), the new chalcone derivative, have been isolatedfrom the CHCl3-soluble fraction of the whole plant ofColutea armata along with luteolin (4), luteolin 7-O-b-Dglucoside(5), isoliquiritigenin (6), trans-caffeic acid (7)and stigmasterol (8) reported for the first time from thisspecies. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopictechniques including MS and 2D-NMR spectroscopy. Compounds 1 and 2 showed significant antimicrobialactivity against two Gram positive and three Gram negativebacterial strains while 3 was moderately active.
