In order to investigate the microstructure and mechanical properties on Al–25Cr–5Si (at%) alloy, a mixed powder with pureelements and an alloy powder using a gas atomization process were used. Fine and high purity Al–25Cr–5Si (at%) alloypowder was successfully prepared by gas atomization and densified using a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process. The overallpowder size distribution of the mixed Al, Cr, and Si elemental powders was in the range of 10–15 μm. The atomized Al–Cr–Sialloy powder was fine and spherical in morphology and difficult to be formed by intermetallic formation. Densification wasclearly confirmed at 1000 °C, with almost isolated pores formed, by clear removal of pores between particles, deformationof particles, an increase in the number of contacts, and a change in size between particles. As a result of XRD analysis ofthe sintered compacts, single phase was observed using the mixed powder, but the compact using gas atomization remainedthe alloy phase even at the process temperature. The Vickers hardness of the compacts by mixed powder was observed at59.70 Hv and the compact using gas atomized powders on the temperature 1000 °C of the Vickers hardness increased to702.6 Hv. The compressive yield strength of the compact with mixed powder was 195.24 MPa and the compressive strengthof the compact with gas atomized powder increased to 802.07 MPa. It is considered not to be decomposed by the AlCrSi,Al13Cr4Si4and Al8Cr5phases sintering process, resulting from the improvement of mechanical properties.
A Multi-Center Educational Research Regarding Breastfeeding for Pediatrics Residents in Korea

Purpose: Pediatricians have a significant responsibility to educate mothers about the importance of breastfeeding. However, there have been minimal efforts in the courses of resident training in Korea. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the change in knowledge and attitude before and after a 4-week breastfeeding educational intervention among multicenter residents. Methods: Prospective interventional educational research was designed for residents at eight training hospitals in Korea. Institutional reviews were obtained in each hospital. The education curriculum consisted of 14 courses regarding breastfeeding theory and practice. These materials were used to teach pediatric residents for 4 weeks. Knowledge-based tests were administered before the course, and re-tests were administered after the course using different test items of similar levels. Test scores and survey responses were compared before and after the intervention. Results: A total of 73 residents (1st year 20, 2nd year 23, 3rd year 16, and 4th year residents 14) from eight training hospitals completed the intervention. Their average age was 30.3±2.9 years, 17 (23.3%) were male, 22 (30.1%) were married, and eight had more than one child of their own. The mean pre-test score was 61.8±13.4 and the mean post-test score was 78.3±7.5 (P<0.001). The inter-grade difference in the score was significant in the pre-test (P=0.005), but not significant in the post-test (P=0.155). There were more responses of obtaining confidence after the intervention (P<0.001). Conclusion: In our study, pediatric residents showed improvement in their knowledge and confidence level after 4 weeks of the breastfeeding curriculum. Backgrounds/Aims: Hepatic resection has only guaranteed long-term survival in patients with colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) even in the era of effective chemotherapy. The definite role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) is to improve outcomes of unresectable CRLMs, but it its role has not been defined for initially resectable CRLMs (IR-CRLMs). Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 226 patients, who had been diagnosed and treated for IR-CRLM between 2003 and 2008; the patients had the following pathologies: 10% had more than 4 nodules, 11% had tumors larger than 5 cm, and 61% had synchronous CRMLs. Among these patients, 20 patients (Group Y) were treated with NCT, and 206 (Group N) did not receive NCT according to their physician’s preference. The median follow-up time was 34.1 months. Results: The initial surgical plans were changed after NCT to further resection in 20% and to limited resection in 10% of 20 patients. Complication rates of Groups Y (30%) were indifferent from Group N (23%) (p=0.233), but intraoperative transfusions were more frequent in Group N (15%) than in Group Y (5%) (p=0.006). There was one case of hospital mortality (0.44%). Disease-free survival rates in Groups Y and N were 23% and 39%, respectively, and patient survival rates were 42% and 66% (p>0.05). By multivariate analysis, old age (≥60 years), differentiation of primary tumor (poorly/mucinous), resection margin involvement, and no adjuvant chemotherapy were associated with poor patient survival; the number of CRLMs (≥4) was associated with poor disease-free survival. Conclusions: NCT had neither a positive impact nor a negative impact on survival, even with intraoperative transfusion, as observed on operative outcomes for patients with IR-CRLM. Further study is required to elucidate the role of NCT for treatment of patient with IR-CRLMs. (Korean J Hepatobiliary Pancreat Surg 2011;15:206-217)

A surface micromachined uncooled microbolometer based on the V2O5/V/V2O5 sandwich structure was designed and fabricated. A mixed vanadium-oxide phase was obtained by annealing the V2O5/V/V2O5 structure having an optimum layer thickness, and this method is very attractive for the reproducible deposition of the stable mixed vanadium-oxide phase. The multi-layer was deposited by using a conventional RF sputtering method, and the mixed vanadium oxide was formed by low temperature annealing at 300 C. We designed the microbolometer with a pixel size of 70 70 m2 and a ll factor of about 50 % by considering such important factors as the thermal conductance, the temperature coecient of resistance, device resistance, the infrared absorption, and thermal mass. Finally, we successfully fabricated the microbolometer by using surface micromachining technology, and we measured its bolometric properties.
Effect of cathode/anode area ratio on electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The effects of cathode/anode area ratio on the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries are investigated using 2032-type coin full cells. As the anode area is increased from 1.13 (ø12 mm) to 2.54 cm<SUP>2</SUP> (ø18 mm) while maintaining the cathode area as 1.13 cm<SUP>2</SUP> (ø12 mm), both coulombic efficiency and discharge capacity at the first formation step become increasingly worse, probably owing to greater formation of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Moreover, rate capability also declined with increased anode area, whereas discharge capacity retention behavior during 1C/1C charge/discharge cycling appeared similar except for a slightly decreased capacity of coin cells with larger anode areas. The findings indicate that cathode/anode area ratio should be carefully evaluated to achieve reliable data on electrochemical performance.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Relatively larger anode causes low initial coulombic efficiency and discharge capacity. </LI> <LI> Rate capability and cycle life are also dependent on cathode/anode area ratio. </LI> <LI> Slightly larger anode area is recommended for better electrochemical properties. </LI> </UL> </P>

The habitat characteristics of Silene capitata Kom. were investigated to provide basic data for conservation and restoration. Field surveys were conducted from June 2015 to October 2017 in the Imjin River Columnar Joints in Basalt. As a result of the survey, it was confirmed that the Silene capitata live in a place where the habitat environment is dry and barren within the lowland area of 13 ~ 158m above sea level. The aspects of natural habitats of Silene capitata were 3 points of east, 2 of east-northeast, 1 of northeast, 1 of north-northeast, 3 of northwest. The taxonomic analysis of vascular plant was appeared as total 293 taxa including 82 families, 233 genera, 312 species, 5 sub-species, 35 varieties and 8 forms. Total 6 plants as the Korean endemic plant, 7 plants were classified as rare plant. The floristic regional indicator plants found in this area were 39 taxa comprising 4 taxa of grade Ⅴ, 9 taxa of grade Ⅳ, 7 taxa of grade III, 5 taxa of grade Ⅱ, and 14 taxa of grade Ⅰ. Silene cpaitata requires form retention and protection and protection of endangered species.
Group-Based Channel Access Scheme for a V2I Communication System using Smart Antenna

<P>We propose a vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication system that utilizes a smart antenna technology to increase service coverage and system throughput. During contention-based channel access, a collision occurs when more than one vehicle selects the same minislot to transmit an access signal to an infrastructure. To solve this problem, we propose a group-based channel access scheme. Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can help to reduce the number of collisions that occur during channel access.</P>
