This study was performed to investigate the seasonal occurrence, developmental characteristics of each nymphal stages with different temperatures (20, 25, 30℃), longevity and fecundity of ussur brown katydid, Paratlanticus ussuriensis, damaging by outbreaks in the orchard areas of Bitan-ri, Yeongdong, Chungbuk. Paratlanticus ussuriensis occurred from late-March to late-August with peak of mid-May. Newly emerged nymphs appeared from March and do damaged fruit orchards with peak of mid-May when P. ussuriensis existed as 4th and 5th nymphal stages. P. ussuriensis adult occurred from early-June to mid-Aug. with peak of mid-July. Total density of P. ussuriensis was showed highest in mid-May. P. ussuriensis goes through nymphal stages to 7th nymph, the ovipositor began exposed to outside from the 4th instar and the body weight increased heavily from this stage and the wings were observed from 6th instar. Developmental period was longer as increased the nymphal stages. Sex ratio of collected insect was showed as 0.57; females more than males. As increased the temperature, developmental period was to be short. Preoviposition was also to be short as 5.0, 4.3, and 3.4 days at 20, 25, 30℃, respectively, and fecundity increased as 69.0, 87.1, and 104.3 at 20, 25, 30℃, respectively. Longevity of male and female at 25℃ was showed the longest with 35.7, and 32.9 days and showed the shortest with 30.1 and 28.1 days at 30℃, respectively. The difference of developmental period in male and female were showed longer in female without relation of temperature. The eggs laid were frequently distributed 3 to 4 cm from soil surface, and showed the behavior laying eggs intensively when early oviposition period.

NPT Monte Carlo simulations were performed to calculate the molecular properties of syndiotactic poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and syndiotactic poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) melts using the configurational bias Monte Carlo move, concerted rotation, reptation, and volume fluctuation. The density, mean square backbone end-to-end distance, mean square radius of gyration, fractional free-volume distribution, distribution of torsional angles, small molecule solubility constant, and radial distribution function of PVC at 0.1 MPa and above the glass transition temperature were calculated/measured, and those of PVA were calculated. The calculated results were compared with the corresponding experimental data and discussed. The calculated densities of PVC and PVA were smaller than the experimental values, probably due to the very low molecular weight of the model polymer used in the simulation. The fractional free-volume distribution and radial distribution function for PVC and PVA were nearly independent of temperature.

A new type of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) based on a porous type Ti electrode without using a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer is fabricated for low-cost high-efficient solar cell application. The TCO-free DSC is composed of a glass substrate/dye-sensitized TiO₂ nanoparticle/porous Ti layer/electrolyte/Pt sputtered counter electrode. The porous Ti electrode (∼350 ㎚ thickness) with high conductivity can collect electrons from the TiO₂ layer and allows the ionic diffusion of I?/I₃?through the hole. The vacuum annealing treatment is important with respect to the interfacial necking between the metal Ti and porous TiO₂ layer. The efficiency of the prepared TCO-free DSC sample is about 3.5% (ff: 0.48, Voc: 0.64V, Jsc: 11.14 ㎃/㎠).
In Vitro Sugar Accumulation in Juice Sacs of 'Shiranuhi' Mandarin

To further our understanding of sugar accumulation in 'Shiranuhi' mandarin [(C. unshiu ${\times}$ C. sinensis) ${\times}$ C. reticulate], we investigated the patterns of sugar uptake in juice sacs exposed to different concentrations of sucrose, fructose and glucose in vitro. Data was also collected on the change in weight and shape of the in vitro juice sacs over time. Soluble solids content, sugar content and acidity content were highest at 20% sucrose, fructose and glucose solution content; while fructose content was highest at 5% sucrose concentration. Furthermore, the juice sac's fresh weight was highest at 5% sucrose and lowest at 20% fructose content. The shape of the juice sacs also differed in different sugar concentration and type. Overall, sucrose, fructose and glucose content in juice sacs increased with the sugar concentration. These results suggest that sugar translocation into juice sacs is actively induced by high sugar concentration in the medium. Thus, it can be concluded that sugar and acid accumulation in juice sacs increased with sugar concentration in vitro culture.

저자들은 후만변형을 동반한 43명의 흉요추부 골결핵예에 대하여 화학요법하에 후방기기를 이용하여 구베변형교정과 함께 후방고정을 시도하고, 이어 전달도달법을 이용 장골편 또는 늑 골편을 이식골로 사용하여 추체간 고정술을 실시하였다. 43명중 성인이 39명이고, 소아는 4명이었으며, 23명은 남자이고 나머지 20명은 여자였다. 초진 직후부터 1년반 동안 항결핵제(INH,Rifampicin, Ethambutol (또는 PAS)를 사용 하였다. 초진시의 후만각(수술전)은 성인에서는 평균 39도 (12-45도) 였고, 수술직후의 후만각은 평균 16도 (12-22도), 최종 후만각은 평균 18도 (13-23도) 였다. 반면 소아의 술전 후만각은 평균 55도 (35-90도) 수술직후는 평균 28도 (13-45도) 이고, 최종후만각은 평균 31도 (19- 45도) 였다. 평균 추체간 골유합기간은 한분절 유합예에서는 성인에서는 4개월이였고, 소아에서는 3.5 개월이었다. 두분절전방 유합예에서는 성인에서는 6개월이였고, 소아시는 6.3개월을 요하였 다. 관찰기간중 이식골편의 골절이나, 흡수 또는 붕괴는 일어나지 않았으며, 한 소아에서는 한 늑골이식골편이 부분 이탈을 일으켰다. 이 연구결과로 추정하면 척추결핵치료에 있어 절절한 화학요법을 실시하면서 2단계 수술요 법-(후방기기 고정술 및 전방추체간 유합술)-을 실시시, 이술식은 골격핵을 초기단계에 서 멈추게 하고 동시에 빠른 추체간 유합을 이루게 하고, 기존의 후만변형의 교정과 진행을 효과적으로 방지 할 수있었다. 또한 후방고정 기기에 의한 척추의 후만교정은 이변형이 아주 강직 상태가 않일경우 후만변형의 교정및 진행방지를 위한 첫째단계 술식으로 실시되어야 할 것이다. 또한 기기에 의한 결핵 척추의 후방교정은 추체간 유합을 위한 이식골에 안정성을 부 여함과 동시에 이식골의 붕괴를 막아 이식골의 유합을 촉진함이 밝혀졌다.
