We performed a survey for flavivirus infection and distribution of Aedes albopictus that known as Zika and Dengue virus vector using black–light trap and BG-sentinel trap around urban area in Korea. Mosquitoes were collected in 27 cities during March to November (twice a month) year 2016. Total numbers of mosquitoes collected 102,102 including 19 species 8 genera during collecting period. Total 21,467 Ae. albopictus was collected that 20,961(24.3%) by BG-sentinel trap and 506 (3.2%) by Black-light trap in urban area. Trap index(trap/night) of Ae. albopictus was showed highest in Hamyang (TI:992.3) and lowest in Taebaek (TI:0.3) there was only collected by Black-light trap. A total of 894 pools from all collecting Ae. albopictus were performed a Flavivirus detection. Flavivirus was not detected during study period. This study may provide basic information for surveillance of imported diseases (include Zika virus) and vectors in Korea.

Vanadium in the vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite (VTM) exist by replacing iron in the magnetite crystal, and magnetite should be recovered separately from titanium components in the vanadium- bearing titanomagnetite. In the present study, a sensing system was proposed by measuring magnetic susceptibility of magnetite because the magnetic susceptibility can be easily and quickly measured. The effects of mixing ratio of magnetite and ilmenite with silica and the distance between the magnetic susceptibility meter and the sample bed on the magnetic susceptibility were investigated. The magnetic susceptibility of the mixture of magnetite and ilmenite with 0.1 g or 0.2 g of silica decreased with increasing the ratio of ilmenite in the mixture, but the effect of silica addition was not significant. When the distance between the magnetic susceptibility meter and the sample bed increased, the magnetic susceptibility of magnetite decreased, but the magnetic susceptibility decreased with increasing the thickness of magnetite sample bed of magnetite. Because the magnetic susceptibility depended strongly on the content of magnetite, the sensing system using the magnetic susceptibility measurement could be successfully applied to detect magnetite.

A total of 170 fresh fecal samples (healthy; n=137, diarrheic; n=33) were collected from pet rabbits. By using PCR and formol-ether concentration method, a total 13/137 healthy rabbit feces were positive for L. intracellularis, 6/137 for Salmonella, and 13/137 for Eimeria. On the other hand, a total 17/33 diarrheic rabbit fecal samples were positive for L. intracellularis, 10/33 for Salmonella, and 21/33 for Eimeria. From these results, more than 20% of clinically normal and 97% of diarrheic rabbits were positive for single or concurrent infection of three pathogens. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to describe the prevalence of the microorganisms L. intracellularis, Salmonella and Eimeria in pet rabbits.

Background: Chest tube drainage (CTD) is an indication for the treatment of pneumothorax, hemothroax and is used after a thoracic surgery. But, in the case of incomplete lung expansion, and/or persistent air leak from CTD, medical or surgical thoracoscopy or, if that is unavailable, limited thoracotomy, should be considered. We evaluate the efficacy of bronchoscopic injection of ethanolamine to control the persistent air leak in patients with CTD. Methods: Patients who had persistent or prolonged air leak from CTD were included, consecutively. We directly injected 1.0 mL solution of 5% ethanolamine oleate into a subsegmental or its distal bronchus, where it is a probable air leakage site, 1 to 21 times using an injection needle through a fiberoptic bronchoscope. Results: A total of 15 patients were enrolled; 14 cases of spontaneous pneumothorax [idiopathic 9, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) 3, post-tuberculosis 2] and one case of empyema associated with broncho-pleural fistula. Of these, five were patients with persistent air leak from CTD, just after a surgical therapy, wedge resection with plication for blebs or bullae. With an ethanolamine injection therapy, 12 were successful but three (idiopathic, COPD and post-tuberculosis) failed, and were followed by a surgery (2 cases) or pleurodesis (1 case). Some adverse reactions, such as fever, chest pain and increased radiographic opacities occurred transiently, but resolved without any further events. With success, the time from the procedure to discharge was about 3 days (median). Conclusion: Bronchoscopic ethanolamine injection therapy may be partially useful in controlling air leakage, and reducing the hospital stay in patients with persistent air leak from CTD.

In this paper, a transformer type SFCL (superconducting fault current limiter) using an additional magnetically coupled circuit was suggested. Its transient fault current limiting characteristics, due to the winding direction of additional coupled circuit, were analyzed through fault current limiting tests. The suggested transformer type SFCL was composed of the primary winding, and one secondary winding wound on the same iron core together with an additional magnetically coupled circuit. That circuit consists of the other secondary winding together with the other SC (superconducting) element connected in parallel with its other secondary winding. As one of the effective design parameters to affect the transient fault current of the SFCL, the fault current limiting tests of the suggested SFCL were carried out considering the winding direction of its additional coupled circuit. It was confirmed that, through the analysis on the fault current tests of the SFCL, the quench sequence of two SC elements comprising the suggested SFCL could be adjusted by the winding direction of the additional coupled circuit.

In this paper, we introduce neighbor list composition scheme that organizes small numbers of adjacent neighbors for cellular based multi-hop relay network so that the neighbor advertisement with small number of neighbors could increase average transmission rate of MR network. Wireless multi-hop environment based on cellular system, such as 802.16j, requires an algorithm that organizes neighbor lists dynamically due to the mobility and impermanancy of relay station. From the study, we’ve concluded that the location based neighbor lists composition could reduces the wastage of wireless resources, which improves the transmission rate of cellular based wireless multi-hop network.
