To explore the cardiovascular protective effectsof Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate (MI), especially theunderlying cellular mechanisms related to L-type calciumchannels and myocardial contractility, and to examine theeffects of MI on hERG K? current expressed in HEK293cells. We used the whole-cell patch clamp technique,video-based edge detection and dual excitation fluorescencephotomultiplier systems to explore the effect of MIon L-type Ca2? currents (ICa-L) and cell contraction in ratcardiomyocytes. We also examined the rapidly activatingdelayed rectifier potassium current (IKr) expressed inHEK293 cells using a perforated patch clamp. MI inhibitedICa-L in a dose-dependent manner, with a half-maximalinhibitory concentration (IC50) of 0.22 mg/ml, and themaximal inhibitory effect was 61.10 ± 0.59%. MI at aconcentration of 0.3 mg/ml reduced cell shortening by24.12 ± 3.97% and the peak value of the Ca2? transient by36.54 ± 4.96%. MI had no significant influence on hERGK? channels expressed in HEK293 cells at all testpotentials. MI exerts protective effects on the heart via theinhibition of ICa-L and cell shortening in rat cardiomyocytes. However, MI had no significant influence on IKr;thus, MI may exert cardioprotective effects without causingdrug-induced long QT syndrome.
The Informational Role of Volume by Investor Group

This paper studies the informational role of trading volume using common stocks categorized by investor group in Korean stock market from January 2004 to December 2006. The GARCH(1,1) model fits Korean stock market well and the volume variables ( such as absolute value of the net buy volume, excess buy volume and excess sell volume) have additional explanatory effect when they are included in the variance equation of the GARCH(1,1) model. This paper further test whether the effects of excess sell volume and excess buy volume on volatility is asymmetric. In addition, the effects of volume on volatility are shown to be different by investor groups. Because of the information disadvantage, the daily return volatility is highly correlated with the volume of domestic individual investors and non-listed foreign investors. Finally, I extend this result to an expanded data set that includes 477 common stocks.

Xanthate-modified baker’s yeast (XMBY) was successfully synthesized by grafting xanthate groups onto the surface of baker’s yeast and was used for the simultaneous adsorption of cadmium (Cd2+) and methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to characterize the synthesized adsorbent. The results indicated that the sulfur groups were successfully introduced onto the surface of the baker’s yeast and participated in the adsorption processes. The kinetic and isotherm data showed good correlations with the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir model, respectively. The equilibrium time and the maximum values obtained from the two models were 40 min, 239.8mg/g for Cd2+ and 300 min, 64.45mg/g for MB, respectively. The thermodynamic analysis (G<0, H>0, S>0) demonstrated that the adsorption processes of Cd2+ and MB onto the XMBY were endothermic and spontaneous. In the binary-component solution (Cd2+ and MB), the adsorption capacity for MB was almost unaffected by the presence of Cd2+ and interestingly, the adsorption capacity for Cd2+ increased in the presence of MB. Overall, these results indicated that XMBY could be a promising adsorbent for the treatment of wastewater containing both Cd2+ and MB.

In this paper, aiming at the phenomenon that the dead zone and hysteresis of three-way proportional pressure reducing valve (TPPRV) will seriously affect the control accuracy of construction machinery, a polynomial excitation current compensation controller (PECC) is designed, which is novel and easy to realize in engineering. Firstly, the mathematical model of TPPRV is established, and the dead zone and hysteresis of TPPRV are quantitatively analyzed by using the performance test platform of proportional pressure reducing valve. Secondly, the design principle of PECC is expounded, and the controller model is deduced theoretically. The proposed PECC has two main advantages. One is that the method does not need to establish the nonlinear model of dead zone and hysteresis, and the other is that the method can compensate the dead zone and hysteresis simultaneously. Finally, the compensation control performance of PECC is verified by using the performance test platform of proportional pressure reducing valve. The experimental results show that PECC can greatly reduce the adverse effects of dead zone and hysteresis on TPPRV, and has great applicability under different working conditions. Relevant research results can significantly improve the proportional control accuracy of TPPRV, which has a certain engineering value.

In addition, the appearances of A. reniformis Song & Li (2013a) and A. anteoculara Song & Li (2013a) are supplementarily described. In this paper, one new species of the leafhopper genus Thaioneura Song, Li & Dietrich, 2016 from Guizhou Province, China are described and illustrated: Thaioneura huajiangensis sp. nov. And the female ovipositors are photographed and described. A key to distinguish all known species of the genus is provided. The hind wing venation of the new species are the same as the T. suphanburia and T. sinuata, and not common in the tribe Erythroneurini.

Thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) was conducted in autoclave on the system of crude oil and $MgSO_4$ at different temperatures. Gas chromatography pulsed flame photometric detector (GC-PFPD) was used to detected the composition of organic sulfur compounds in oil phase products. The results of the analysis indicate that with increased temperature, the contents of organic sulfur compounds with high molecular weight and thermal stability, such as benzothiophenes and dibenzothiophenes, gradually became dominated. In order to gain greater insight into the formation and distribution of organic sulphur compounds from TSR, positive ion electrospray Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) was used in detecting the detailed elemental composition and distribution of them. The mass spectra showed that the mass range of sulfur compounds was 200-550 Da. Four sulfur class species, $S_1$, $N_1S_1$, $O_1S_1$ and $O_2S_1$, were assigned in the positive-ion spectrum. Among the identified sulfur compounds, the $S_1$ class species was dominant. The most abundant $S_1$ class species increase associated with the DBE value and carbon number increasing which also indicates the evolution of organic sulfur compounds in TSR is from the labile series to the stable one. In pure blank pyrolysis experiments with crude oil cracking without TSR, different composition and distribution of organic sulfur compounds in oil phase products were seen from mass spectra in order to evaluate their pyrolysis behaviors without $MgSO_4$. FT-IR and XRD were used in analyzing the products of solid phases. Two distinct crystallographic phases MgO and $MgSO_4$ are found to coexist in the products which demonstrated the transformation of inorganic sulfur compounds into organosulfur compounds exist in TSR.

The effects of alkalization treatments on color,colorimetric fractions, total polyphenol content, andanthocyanin content of cocoa powder were investigated. Adarker color and a lower total polyphenol content wereobtained for cocoa powder alkalized using a K2CO3solution than with an NaOH solution. A high temperatureand basic pH conditions favored formation of darkcomponents during alkalization due to sugar degradation,Maillard reactions, and anthocyanin polymerizing. Theanthocyanin content decreased with an increasing alkaliconcentration, suggesting that more anthocyanins weretransformed into brown polymers in darker cocoa powder. Cocoa powder with a heavy degree of alkalization had thelowest ratio of monomer anthocyanins to yellow/brownpolymer content. OD460/OD525 values for alkalized sampleswere higher than for non-alkalized samples. Cocoa powderpresented a better color quality after alkalization treatment.

Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG), which possesses excellent properties, is investigated and applied. The sintering technology of YAG porous ceramics is optimized. Results show that the porosity initially increases and then decreases with an increase of increasing temperature rate, the porosity are decreased with an increase of removing carbon temperature, the porosity are decreased with an increase of sintering temperature, the porosity are decreased with an increase of holding time. Meanwhile, the compressive strength constantly exhibits an opposite tendency. The optimization of the sintering technology of YAG porous ceramics is based on porosity and compressive strength. A good sintering technology are an increasing temperature rate of 8 oC/min, a removing carbon temperature of 800 oC, removing carbon time of 1 h, a sintering temperature of 1450 oC and holding time of 2 h. The porosity of the prepared YAG porous ceramics is 57.4%, and the compressive strength is 8.89 MPa.
