Objective: This study was performed to identify factors related with use of hearing protectors for prevention of noise-induced hearing loss among some manufacturing workers through health promotion model. Methods: The data were collected from 116 workers who were exposed to the noise level above 85dB, and interviewed them using organized questionnaire from April 19 to 27, 2004. Results: The subjects of 48.0 percent used hearing protectors for last one week. The factors associated with the use of hearing protectors for the last one week were the perceived barriers in respect to hearing protectors were lower (p<0.001), the perceived self efficacy was higher (p<0.001) and the perceived emotion in respect to hearing protectors was higher (p<0.05). However, a significant relation was not observed from the factors such as perceived health status, immediate competing demands and preferences, and interpersonal influences that showed significant relation in a simple analysis (p>0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that as the perceived factors such as self-efficacy and perceived barrier and associated emotion influenced significantly the hearing protectors use of the worker, they should be carefully considered in developing a program to increase hearing protectors use.

As the use of preservatives in foods has been increased, the misuse and overuse of preservatives are occasionally occurred. As the variety of food has risen, it is necessary to establish the screening method to determine preservatives in various foods. In this study, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate, i-propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, n-butyl p-hydroxybenzoate were analyzed by TLC and HPLC. In order to determine the recoveries from food, these preservatives were spiked into foods. As a result, solvent systems of 8:2:0.45:0.05 and 12:2:0.45:0.05 of pentane:acetic acid:chloroform:ethanol were appropriate for TLC analysis of preservatives. All preservatives were well resolved with solvent system of 2% ammonium acetate in 2.5% acetic acid:methanol (90/10~10/90) by HPLC. Direct extraction of preservatives from food proved to be more proper than distillation and extraction method. The recoveries by direct extraction method showed 93.7~104.6% of preservatives studied.
Survey on Current Status of Laboratory Animals for Establishing New National Policy

Facility maintenance for laboratory animals are critical and fundamental for obtaining the trustable results on the animal experiment and health science. The aim of this study was to survey the current situation of the animals facility in Korea. To do this, a total of 223 institutions having laboratory animals was chosen for search their general current situations on the institution's facility, facility equipment, and the environment of animal facility. Herein, the animals facilities were mainly had the small size of concrete structure, and the BSL facility was slightly increased. But, many facilities were only controlled the humidity and temperature in the animal breeding room. We concluded that the levels of animal facilities were extremely low spite of increasing of animal users, and thereby recognizing necessity of support at the national level.
A Needle Penetrating the Stomach Cavity after Acupuncture

Although acupuncture is known as a safe procedure that is widely used in many countries, complications including infection, hemorrhage, hematoma, pneumothorax, nerve damage, and cardiac tamponade have been reported. A needle penetrating the stomach after acupuncture, however, is very rare. Here, we report the case of 47-year-old woman who experienced abdominal pain 2 days after receiving acupuncture. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy identified an approximately 2.5-cm long needle in the posterior wall of the antrum. The needle was removed endoscopically using rat tooth forceps with no complications.

본 논문에서는 보강토옹벽에 주로 사용되는 화강풍화토 내부에 열선 및 지오그리드를 설치하여 온도변화에 따른 화강풍화토와 지오그리드 사이의 전단력의 변화를 분석하였다. 실제 보강제로 보강되어있는 화강풍화토 내부에 열선에 의한 온도상승이 지반과 보강재 사이의 전단력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인하기 위해 대형직접전단시험장치를 이용하여 전단시험을 진행하였으며 몰드내부에는 가열된 물로 열을 공급할 수 있는 실리콘재질의 열선이 설치되어 지반의 온도를 상승시키며 온도에 따른 전단 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 축방향 하중을 다르게 하여 온도상승에 의한 지반의 내부마찰각의 변화를 검토하였다. This paper presents the results of an investigation into the effect of forced temperature change cycles on physical and mechanical properties of sand and weathered granite soil. The effect of forced temperature change cycles on the particle arrangement and the thermal conductivity was first investigated. A series of triaxial compression tests on the soils were also performed to look into the effect of temperature change cycles on the stress-strain-strength behavior.
인장이상재의 화학적 특징과 백색부후균(Trametes versicolor )에 대한 저항성과의 관계

인장이상재(tension wood)는 경사지나 기울어서 생장한 활엽수의 줄기에서 발달하는 이상 목재로 산세가 험한 우리나라의 산림에서 자라는 수목에서 흔히 발견된다. 인장이상재에서 나타나는 가장 두드러지는 해부학적 변화는 많은 수종에서 젤라틴층(gelatinous layer, G)이라는 특수한 층이 목섬유에 발달된다는 것이다. 일반적으로 인장응력재는 곧게 자란 정상재(normal wood)와 비교하여 화학적, 해부학적으로 많은 차이가 있다. 이 같은 인장응력재의 특징은 미생물에 의한 분해와 그 내구성에 지대한 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 졸참나무, 물푸레나무, 목백합나무 인장이상재를 대상으로 화학적 특징을 파악하고 백색부후균에 의한 부후내구성을 시험하였다. 졸참나무, 물푸레나무, 목백합나무 인장이상재의 목섬유 세포벽은 각각 S<sub>1</sub>+S<sub>2</sub>+G, S<sub>1</sub>+G, S<sub>1</sub>+S<sub>2</sub>(혹은 S<sub>1</sub>+S<sub>2</sub>+S<sub>3</sub>) 구조를 나타내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 화학분석결과 인장이상재는 정상재(변재, 심재)에 비해 리그닌(lignin) 및 자일란(xylan)의 함량이 낮았고, 반대로 글루칸(glucan)의 함량은 높게 측정되었다. 물푸레나무와 졸참나무의 유기용매 추출물량은 인장이상재가 정상재에 비해 높은 수치를 나타내었다. 그러나 목백합나무 인장이상재의 추출물 함량은 정상재에 비해 매우 낮았다. 배양기간(16주 동안 4주 단위로 중량감소율 측정)에 상관없이 세 수종 모두에서 인장이상재의 구름버섯(Trametes versicolor )에 대한 부후 저항성은 정상재에 비해 낮았다. 이 같은 결과는 인장이상재의 글루칸 함량이 높고, 반대로 리그닌 함량이 낮기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 유기용매 추출물 함량과 인장이상재의 부후내구성과의 연관성은 졸참나무에서만 확인되었다. 일반적으로 추출물의 함량이 높은 목재일수록 목재부후균에 대한 부후내구성이 높은 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 물푸레나무 인장이상재는 정상재에 비해 약 2배 정도 높은 유기용매 추출물 함량을 나타내었음에도 불구하고 정상재에 비해 낮은 부후 저항성을 나타내었다. 반대로 목백합나무 인장이상재는 정상재에 비해 낮은 추출물 함량을 보였으나 상대적으로 높은 저항성을 나타내었다. 이는 추출물의 종류나 다른 화학성분과의 복합적인 원인이 정상재와 다른 이상재의 부후내구성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of transverse abdominal exercise on the change of chronic low back pain and lumbar muscle strength. Method : 18 chronic lumbago patients were transverse abdominal exercise for 3weeks. Result : 1. The strength of the lumbar extensor and flexor of the male subjects was increased significantly after abdominal exercise(p p<<0.05). 2. The strength of the lumbar extensor and flexor of the female subjects was increased significantly after abdominal exercise(p p<<0.05). 3. The study can confirm significant relationship between the lumbar muscle strength and lumbar pain before and after the exercise Conclusion : The study of could find the increase of the ability of the lumbar extensor and flexor of both male and female subjects suffering from chronic low back and pain using three-week transverse abdominal exercise. The study confirmed the general decrease of pain after the experiment.
