From Rags to Riches: Business Model Innovation Shifts in the Ecosystem of the Chinese Super League

The Chinese Super League (CSL) has witnessed unprecedented growth in recent years via evolutions in Chinese football clubs’ business models and the league environment. This paper analyses business model innovation (BMI) in the light of changing ecosystem factors via a case study of the Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao FC. It analyses the types of BMI and finds that BMI constancy and novelty are key to the club’s success. The study identifies policy and investors as the two ecosystem factors with the most significant influence on the club’s BMI. We argue that CSL clubs have unique and under-rated value capture structures, where the value is captured by their investors rather than by the clubs themselves. Being sensitive to the ecosystem is another key factor and we give guidance on how to anticipate ecosystem changes and adjust business models accordingly. This can be generalized to other organizations and industries.

Purpose Patients with advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC) have a poor survival. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine and cisplatin regimen in Chinese advanced BTC patients.Materials and Methods Eligible patients with locally advanced or metastatic BTC administrated intravenous 100 mg/m<sup>2</sup> nab-paclitaxel, 800 mg/m<sup>2</sup> gemcitabine, and 25 mg/m<sup>2</sup> cisplatin every 3 weeks. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS). The secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS) and adverse events, while exploratory endpoint was the association of biomarkers with efficacy.Results After the median follow-up of 25.0 months, the median PFS and OS of 34 enrolled patients were 7.1 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 5.4 to 13.7) and 16.4 months (95% CI, 10.9 to 23.6), respectively. The most common treatment-related adverse events at ≥ 3 grade were neutropenia (26.5%) and leukopenia (26.5%). Survival analyses demonstrated that carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels could monitor patients’ survival outcomes. A significant increase in the number of infiltrating CD4+ cells (p=0.008) and a decrease in programmed death-1–positive (PD-1+) cells (p=0.032) were observed in the response patients.Conclusion In advanced BTC patients, nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine and cisplatin regimen showed therapeutic potential. Potential prognostic factors of CEA levels, number of CD4+ cells and PD-1+ cells may help us maximize the efficacy benefit.
Biomass Pyrolysis Fuel Research of the Technology about Heating Through Heat-carrier

With the rapid development of biomass pyrolysis fuel technology, the technology about heating through heat-carrier as an important part of biomass pyrolysis fuel process is also to mature. However, since there is a relatively great temperature difference after carrier heating, the biomass pyrolysis products and oil production rate are affected ultimately. Therefore, this article first introduces several kinds of biomass pyrolysis fuel technology about heating through heat-carrier, and then leads to a design of a fine temperature control device through analysis and comparison to keep the initial temperature difference within ±10 ℃ for the carrier in main reactor so that it can satisfy the temperature demand of biomass pyrolysis and promote the industrialization of biomass pyrolysis fuel.
A case study of gust factor characteristics for typhoon Morakat observed by distributed sites

Gust factor is an important parameter for the conversion between peak gust wind and mean wind speed used for the structural design and wind-related hazard mitigation. The gust factor of typhoon wind is observed to show a significant dispersion and some differences with large-scale weather systems, e.g., monsoons and extratropical cyclones. In this study, insitu measurement data captured by 13 meteorological towers during a strong typhoon Morakot are collected to investigate the statistical characteristics, height and wind speed dependency of the gust factor. Onshore off-sea and off-land winds are comparatively studied, respectively to characterize the underlying terrain effects on the gust factor. The theoretical method of peak factor based on Gaussian assumption is then introduced to compare the gust factor profiles observed in this study and given in some building codes and standards. The results show that the probability distributions of gust factor for both off-sea winds and off-land winds can be well described using the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution model. Compared with the off-land winds, the off-sea gust factors are relatively smaller, and the probability distribution is more leptokurtic with longer tails. With the increase of height, especially for off-sea winds, the probability distributions of gust factor are more peaked and right-tailed. The scatters of gust factor decrease with the mean wind speed and height. AS/NZ’s suggestions are nearly parallel with the measured gust factor profiles below 80m, while the fitting curve of off-sea data below 120m is more similar to AIJ, ASCE and EU.

Background and Purpose This study investigated the contribution of white-matter hyperintensities (WMH) and lacunar infarcts (LI) to the risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in an elderly cohort in China. Methods Older adults who were initially cognitively normal were examined with MRI at baseline, and followed for 5 years. WMH were classified as mild, moderate, or severe, and LI were classified into a few LI (1 to 3) or many LI (≥4). Cognitive function was assessed using the Mini Mental State Examination and the Activities of Daily Living scale. Results Among the 2,626 subjects, 357 developed AD by the end of the 5-year follow-up period. After adjusting for age and other potential confounders, having only WMH, having only LI, and having both WMH and LI were associated with an increased risk of developing AD compared with having neither WMH nor LI. Moderate and severe WMH were associated with an increased risk of developing AD compared with no WMH. Furthermore, patients with many LI had an increased risk of developing AD compared with no LI. Conclusions Having moderate or severe WMH and many LI were associated with an increased risk of developing AD, with this being particularly striking when both WMH and LI were present.

We presented a one-pot approach for fabrication of antibacterial cotton fabric using an emulsion of silvernanoparticles (Ag NPs) protected by mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA). The emulsion was used to finish cotton fabrics via a paddry-cure process, making the MSA molecules covalently linked to the cotton fibers by ester linkages with the hydroxylgroups of cellulose. The coordination bonds between the MSA molecules and the Ag NPs provide stable and durable effecton the immobilization of the Ag NPs on the cotton fabric, endowing its antibacterial function with an outstanding launderingdurability. Even experienced 50 consecutive laundering tests, the modified cotton fabric exhibits satisfactory bacterialreduction rates against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. This paper provides a simple fabricationmethodology to mitigate the safety risk and environmental impact that are typically found in the antimicrobial cotton textilesbased on Ag NPs.
