• POSITIONAL ADVANTAGE AND PERFORMANCE: THE INFLUENCE OF CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT AND ABSORPTIVE CAPACITY IN INNOVATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP RESTAURANTS

        Sheng-Fang Chou,Jeou-Shyan Horng,Chih-Hsing Liu,Xinni Xiao 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

The restaurant industry is more engaged in innovation now. Many entrepreneurs realized that the restaurant sector faces major challenging market environments: changing needs of customers, high competition, low barriers to entry, high labor costs, and innovation technology. The market orientation drives business learning about customers. Engaged customers can assist firms to improve performance by getting involved with the firm’s product innovation. Innovation could help restaurants to improve the products and service quality, cut costs, increase sales and profits; it is the basic condition for the survival of restaurant entrepreneurs. However, studies about how the innovation affects restaurant performance were still limited to describe the overview of products innovation process (Ivkov et al., 2016). Resource-based theory takes the internal resources and capabilities of a firm as valuable sources of competitive advantage. How to combine internal resources and quickly respond to market needs to create performance of innovation entrepreneurship that still unclear and worth exploring in depth discussion. Based on the above, This study personal interview with twelve restaurant entrepreneur, government experts and scholars reveal how absorptive capacity could strengthen the link between positional advantage and innovation for entrepreneurship restaurants with the influence of customer engagement. The positional advantages can make enterprise differentiate with their competitors, that including entrepreneurial orientation, human capital and market orientation (Jogaratnam,2017). The experts believe that innovation entrepreneurs need to adopt an open mind, seek new opportunities in the catering market, acquire or develop new technologies and launching new products / services in the market, using high returns and high risk strategies in search of success in market. Training and educating team members are effective way to improve their innovation entrepreneurship.

The Successful Treatment of Pain Associated with Scar Tissue Using Acupuncture

Sheng Fang 사단법인약침학회 2014 Journal of Acupuncture & Meridian Studies Vol.7 No.5

In this case report, a 48-year-old female who had suffered severe scar pain for 3 months was treated with acupuncture using the Wei Ci technique (surrounding the dragon). Scar tissue usually forms after deep trauma, such as piercings, burns, and surgery, to the dermis. In Chinese Medicine, scar tissue causes local Qi and blood stagnation which lead to pain. The Wei Ci technique (surrounding the dragon) and distal points Hegu-LI-4, Tai- chong-LIV-3, Zusanli-ST-36 were used. The patient received a total of eight treatments in 5 weeks. The scar pain decreased from 7 to 1 or 2 on a Likert scale of 0e10, with 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain. Acupuncture may have a good short-term pain-relieving effect on scar pain but its long- term scar-pain-relieving effects are still unclear.

Effect of Sucrose Fatty Acid Esters with Different Hydrophiliclipophilic Balance Values on Pasting and Rheological Properties of Waxy Rice Flour

        Sheng Fang,Xiao-Bo Zuo,Hua-Neng Xu,Yue-Cheng Meng,Yan-Mei Liu 한국식품과학회 2016 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.25 No.3

Effects of sucrose fatty acid esters (SEs) with hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) values of 5 (S-570), 9 (S-970), and 15 (S-1570) on the pasting and rheological properties of waxy rice flour (WRF) were investigated. Rapid Visco Analyzer (RVA) showed that addition of SEs affected the pasting properties of WRF. Rheological experiment includes the steady shear flow characteristics, and dynamic viscoelastic properties were also determined using a controlled-stress rheometer. The steady shear tests demonstrated that the viscosity data fitted well with the power law model (R2≥0.976) and all WRF pastes exhibited typical pseudoplastic and shear-thinning properties. Dynamic rheological measurements revealed that the addition of S-970 and S-1570 significantly increased the values of G' and G'' of samples, whereas the addition of S-570 decreased these values. The addition of S-1570 reduced the value of tanδ, whereas S-570 and S-970 increased it.

      • Lack of any Prognostic Value of Body Mass Index for Patients Undergoing Chemoradiotherapy for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

        Zhang, Fang,Wang, Chuan-Sheng,Sun, Bo,Tian, Guang-Bo,Cao, Fang-Li,Cheng, Yu-Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7

Background: The relationship between body mass index(BMI) and outcomes after chemoradiotherapy(CRT) has not been systematically addressed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of BMI on survival in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Materials and Methods: Sixty ESCC cases were retrospectively reviewed in this study. Patient overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared between two groups (BMI< $24.00kg/m^2$ and $BMI{\geq}24.00kg/m^2$). Results: There were 41 patients in the low/normal BMI group (BMI< $24.00kg/m^2$) and 19 in the high BMI group ($BMI{\geq}24.00kg/m^2$). No significant differences were observed in patient characteristics between these. We found no difference in 2-year OS and DFS associated with BMI (p=0.763 for OS; p=0.818 for DFS) using the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate analysis revealed that higher clinical stage was prognostic for worse 2-year OS and DFS, metastasis for 2-year OS, lymph node status for 2-year DFS, while age, gender, smoking, drinking, tumor location and BMI were not prognostic. There were no differences in the 2-year OS (hazard ratio=1.117; p=0.789) and DFS(hazard ratio=1.161; p=0.708) between BMI groups in multivariate analysis, whereas we found statistical differences in the 2-year OS and DFS associated with clinical stage, gender and tumor infiltration (p<0.04), independent of age, smoking, drinking, tumor location, the status of lymph node metastases and BMI. Conclusions: BMI was not associated with survival in patients with ESCC treated with CRT as primary therapy. BMI should not be considered a prognostic factor for patients undergoing CRT for ESCC.

The Effect of Agomelatine in Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia

        Carol Sheei-Meei Wang(Carol Sheei-Meei Wang ),Kuo-Sheng Cheng(Kuo-Sheng Cheng),Chia-Hung Tang(Chia-Hung Tang),Ming-Chyi Pai(Ming-Chyi Pai),Pai-Lien Chen(Pai-Lien Chen),Pei-Fang Chien(Pei-Fang Chien) 대한정신약물학회 2022 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.20 No.4

Objective: Moderate and severe behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) often need medical treatment to improve symptoms. Agomelatine is a selective melatonergic (MT1/MT2) agonist that has normalizing effects on disturbed circadian rhythms and disrupted sleep−wake cycles. Its activity of 5HT-2C receptor antagonism is associated with lessening depression and anxiety and increasing slow-wave sleep. Based on past clinical records and current findings it suggests that agomelatine can improve BPSD for patients. This retrospective cohort study was designed to compare the BPSD before and after using agomelatine. Methods: Records of dementia cases who had ever received agomelatine treatment for BPSD in a general hospital setting during the past 2.5 years were identified and reviewed. Scores from before and after 3 months of treatment with agomelatine were collected for Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), and Clinical Global Impression (CGI) to compare and analyze the difference of psychological and behavioral symptoms pre- and post-agomelatine used. Results: Records of 144 cases of dementia with BPSD who had ever used agomelatine from January 2015 to June 2017 were collected. All of the 112 cases had BPRS and CGI scores, of which 75 cases had additional NPI scores. Among these 112 cases, the BPRS and CGI scores were significantly improved in all types of dementia. NPI scores indicated that the use of agomelatine alleviated obvious symptoms and decreased overall distress, especially in the depression/poor mood, anxiety, and sleep/night behavior. Conclusion: It is consistent with an effective result of agomelatine in improving BPSD.

Sliding Mode Control for Continuous Casting Mold Oscillatory System Driven by Servo Motor

        Sheng-Li Shi,Ke-song Kang,Jian-Xiong Li,Yi-ming Fang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2017 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.15 No.4

This paper develops an extended-state-observer-based sliding mode control strategy for continuous castingmold oscillatory system driven by servo motor in the presence of matched and mismatched disturbance. Extendedstate observers are employed to estimate the compound disturbances, and the requirement of the derivativeof the compound disturbances to zero is avoided. In order to counteract the mismatched disturbance and attenuatethe chattering phenomenon, a novel sliding surface based on extended state observer is designed for the system. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed controller can achieve better tracking performance and robustness tothe compound disturbance.

Microstructural Evolution of TP347H upon Long-Term Service in Power Plants

Fang, Chao,He, Yin Sheng,Yoo, Keun Bong,Jung, Jine Sung,Shin, Kee Sam Trans Tech Publications, Ltd. 2017 Key Engineering Materials Vol.727 No.-

Effects of welding and long-term service on the microstructural evolution of superheater tubes of TP347H stainless steel used in power plants were investigated by optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Analyses after welding or long-term service, showed fine NbCs in grains, which will precipitaion strengthen the matrix. When TP347 was long-term serviced in power plants, M23C6 formed preferentially on the grain boundaries and on twin boundaries, which was attributed to the embrittlement and the intergranular corrosion and fracture. The steam side had less recrystallization rate and more oxide compared to the fire side, which is part of the reason for the cracking from steam side to the fire side. And HAZ is more brittle than the matrix, because of α-Fe phase and coarse grains, due to which, cracks tend to initiate in the steam side of HAZ and propagate to the fire side.

Molecular phylogenetic analysis of key Jatropha species inferred from nrDNA ITS and chloroplast (trnL-F and rbcL) sequences

        Fang Chen,Guo-ye Guo,Sheng-hua Wang,Ying Xu,Lin Tang,Mao-qun Yu 한국유전학회 2016 Genes & Genomics Vol.38 No.6

The genus Jatropha (Euphorbiaceae) contains species that are of significant economic and ornamental value. However, Jatropha breeding material is rather limited due to incomplete information regarding phylogenetic relationships among germplasm resources. Phylogenetic analyses were performed based on the internal transcribed spacer of nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA ITS), two chloroplast regions (trnL-F and rbcL), and the combined (ITS?trnL-F?rbcL) dataset among twenty-five specimens representing six key Jatropha species. Phylogenetic relationships of Jatropha were well resolved between subgenus Curcas and subgenus Jatropha, and demonstrated the intermediate position of section Polymorphae among sections of both subgenera. Jatropha curcas and J. integerrima demonstrated a close phylogenetic relationship. The molecular data agreed with the morphological classification that recognized J. multifida and J. podagrica in sec. Peltatae. The distinct intraspecific divergence that occurred in J. curcas could be attributed to restricted gene flow caused by geographical isolation and different ecological conditions. Phylograms produced with trnL-F and rbcL sequence data suggested slow rates of sequence divergence among Jatropha spp., while the ITS gene tree had good resolution suggesting high genetic variation of ITS among Jatropha species.
