SOL-GEL법을 이용한 강유전체 BaTiO₃박막 및 Ceramics 제조

Concentrated solution was prepared for a sol-gel process of BaTiO₃. Barium hydroxide and Ti-isopropoxide were used as the raw materials with methanol and isopropanol as solvents. Dense ferroelectric polycrystalline BaTiO₃thin films with the perovskite structure were fabricated by spin coating of the prepared concentrated solution on a few substrates. From XRD investigation, it was confirmed that tetragonal phase of polycrystalline BaTiO₃powders are formed after heat treatment above 550℃ in air and grain-oriented BaTiO₃thin films are obtained by coating of 0.06M concentrated solution on the substrates. It was observed that surfaces of thin films deposited on the substrates by our methods were formed crack-free and uniformly. The thickness of thin film which depends the concentration of the solution was 400∼900Å for 1 time coating, which was confirmed by SEM analysis. Ceramics and thin films show dielectric constant of 4600 (at 1㎑) and capacitance 300∼800㎊ (at 1㎑) at room temperature, respectively.

Based on the potential beneficial effects of growth hormone releasing peptide (GHRP)-6 on muscle functions, a newly synthesized GHRP-6-biotin conjugate was tested on cultured myoblast cells. Increased expression of myogenic marker proteins was observed in GHRP-6-biotin conjugate-treated cells. Additionally, increased expression levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 and collagen type I were observed. Furthermore, GHRP-6-biotin conjugate-treated cells showed increased metabolic activity, as indicated by increased concentrations of energy metabolites, such as ATP and lactate, and increased enzymatic activity of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase. Finally, binding protein analysis suggested few candidate proteins, including desmin, actin, and zinc finger protein 691 as potential targets for GHRP6-biotin conjugate action. These results suggest that the newly synthesized GHRP-6-biotin conjugate has myogenic stimulating activity through, at least in part, by stimulating collagen type I synthesis and several key proteins. Practical applications of the GHRP-6-biotin conjugate could include improving muscle condition. [BMB Reports 2015; 48(9): 501-506]

Entomopathogenic fungi formulated as wettable powders and suspension concentrates have been sprayed to crop pests for pest management. However, the use of fungal granules to control paddy field pests has not been fully explored. Herein, several Beauveria bassiana isolates (ERL 1170, 1578 and 836) were produced as granules using a millet-based solid culture. The granules were applied to the rice nursery 3 days before transplanting and their control efficacy against rice water weevils was determined in paddy fields. The solid cultures produced ~1×108conidiag-1ofmilletgrains10daysaftertheinoculation. The granules were applied to the soil in the rice nursery 3 days before the rice seedlings were transplanted in the paddy fields. Rice in plots with granules of ERL1578 had 17.3% leaf damage (74% control efficacy) 14 days post application, whereas rice plants in the non-treated control had 66.5% damage. Rice plants treated in the nursery with ERL1170 and ERL836 had 52~54% damage. In the rice plots previously treated with ERL1578 the smallest numbers of larvae and adults were observed 38 days post application. In laboratory conditions, ERL1578-treated larvae were tuned pink and covered with mycelial mass. Applications of millet-based B. bassiana granules on rice nursery soil can be an effective and efficient biological control strategy for the management of rice water weevils. This method is relatively inexpensive and requires less labor compared to practices involving the spraying of fungi directly on rice in paddy fields.
용액 코팅법에 의해 제조된 저가형 CIS박막의 특성연구

본 연구에서는 Cu와 In 성분을 포함하는 메탄올 용액을 닥터 블레이딩 방법으로 코팅한 후 이를 Se Evaporator 열처리하여 CIS 광흡수층을 제조하였다. Cu(NO_{3})_{2}, INCl_{3} 를 출발 물질로 선정하고, 이를 메탄올 용매에 녹여 전구체 용액을 만든 후, 여기에 유기물 바인더 물질을 첨가하여 닥터 블레이드 코팅에 적합한 점도를 맞춘 후, 이를 Mo/glass 기판에 코팅하였다. 코팅된 Cu, In 함유 유기물 혼합체를 공기중에서 1차 열처리 한 후 Evaporator 를 이용해 Selenization 하여 태양전지용 CIS 광흡수층을 만들었다. 본 연구에서는 전구체 합성, 유기물 첨가, 공기중 열처리 및 Se 열처리 각 단계에서 광흡수층 막의 형상, 결정구조, 화학조성의 변화과정을 분석하여 CIS 박막의 형성 과정을 고찰하였다. 특히 Se 증발 온도가 CIS막의 특성과 조성에 미치는 영향을 분석하여, 최적의 셀렌화 조건을 도출하고자 하였다.

<P>Abstract</P><P>Objective </P><P>To examine the feasibility and accuracy of a handheld rebound tonometer, TonoVet<SUP>®</SUP>, and to compare the intraocular pressure (IOP) readings of the TonoVet<SUP>®</SUP> with those of an applanation tonometer, TonoPen XL<SUP>®</SUP>, in normal Eurasian Eagle owls.</P><P>Animals studied </P><P>Ten clinically normal Eurasian Eagle owls (20 eyes).</P><P>Procedures </P><P>Complete ocular examinations, using slit-lamp biomicroscopy and indirect ophthalmoscopy, were conducted on each raptor. The IOP was measured bilaterally using a rebound tonometer followed by a topical anesthetic agent after 1 min. The TonoPen XL<SUP>®</SUP> tonometer was applied in both eyes 30 s following topical anesthesia.</P><P>Results </P><P>The mean ± SD IOP obtained by rebound tonometer was 10.45 ± 1.64 mmHg (range 7–14 mmHg), and by applanation tonometer was 9.35 ± 1.81 mmHg (range 6–12 mmHg). There was a significant difference (<I>P =</I> 0.001) in the IOP obtained from both tonometers. The linear regression equation describing the relationship between both devices was <I>y</I> = 0.669<I>x</I> + 4.194 (<I>x</I> = TonoPen XL<SUP>®</SUP> and <I>y</I> = TonoVet<SUP>®</SUP>). The determination coefficient (<I>r</I><SUP>2</SUP>) was <I>r</I><SUP>2</SUP> = 0.550.</P><P>Conclusions </P><P>The results suggest that readings from the rebound tonometer significantly overestimated those from the applanation tonometer and that the rebound tonometer was tolerated well because of the rapid and minimal stress-inducing method of tonometry in the Eurasian Eagle owls, even without topical anesthesia. Further studies comparing TonoVet<SUP>®</SUP> with manometric measurements may be necessary to employ rebound tonometer for routine clinical use in Eurasian Eagle owls.</P>
S-347 Lung adenocarcinoma mimicking interstitial lung disease shows good response to vinorelbine

Introduction: Lung adenocarcinoma with bronchioalveolar features, called bronchioloalveolar cancer (BAC), is a relatively rare tumor. The radiologic findings of BAC often resemble pneumonic infiltration. We report a lung adenocarcinoma with widespread ground-glass opacities (GGO) mimicking interstitial lung disease. This case also showed a remarkable complete remission following an 11-month treatment with vinorelbine. Case A 69-year-old male was admitted for evaluation of dyspnea aggravated 2 days previously. A chest CT scan revealed consolidations with diffuse GGO (Fig 1A). He was treated with antibiotics for 2 weeks for presumed pneumonia, but he underwent an open lung biopsy due to failure to improve. The biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma with a bronchioalveolar pattern, subsequently diagnosed as EGFR wild type adenocarcinoma with visceral pleural invasion. The patient underwent two years of treatment with multiple chemotherapies, including platinum doublet, erlotinib, gemcitabine, and docetaxel, but the tumor progressed (Fig 1B). The patient was ultimately treated with vinorelbine weekly for 12 months. A CT scan revealed remarkable improvement of the GGO pattern infiltration (Fig 1C) and the patient showed complete remission that was maintained for 11 months. Conclusion Lung adenocarcinoma sometimes mimics benign lung disease and therefore can delay the diagnosis of cancer. Open lung biopsy will be a useful tool for precise diagnosis. Our patient also showed that vinorelbine could be a treatment option of refractory lung adenocarcinoma.

In recent years, more countries have paid more attention to developing and industrializing insect genome resources. We introduce a bioinformatic method for constructing a viral genomic library from mixed states in which the viruses are mixed with the infected hosts. This method provides more reduced time and much fewer samples for constructing a fosmid library of Pieris rapae and genome project could be carried out by screening only the viral genomic library. Accordingly, it will be helpful to develop a method to protect the industrial insect (P. rapae) from PrGV infection in progress.

Intravesical bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) instillation is an adjuvant treatment for non–muscle-invasive urinary bladder cancer. Although most complications associated with BCG immunotherapy are mild and self-limiting, rare albeit serious complications have been reported. Only a few cases of BCG-related rhabdomyolysis have been reported. In this study, we present the case of a 72-year-old woman who developed severe weakness and hyperCKemia following intravesical BCG instillation. A muscle biopsy was performed, and a diagnosis of drug-induced myopathy was made.
