The presence of artificial light enables humans to be active 24 h a day. Many people across the globe live in a social culture that encourages staying up late to meet the demands of various activities, such as work and school. Sleep deprivation (SD) is a severe health problem in modern society. Meanwhile, as with cardiometabolic disease, there was an obvious tendency that coronary heart disease (CHD) to become a global epidemic chronic disease. Specifically, SD can significantly increase the morbidity and mortality of CHD. However, the underlying mechanisms responsible for the effects of SD on CHD are multilayered and complex. Inflammatory response, lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and endothelial function all contribute to cardiovascular lesions. In this review, the effects of SD on CHD development are summarized, and SD-related pathogenesis of coronary artery lesions is discussed. In general, early assessment of SD played a vital role in preventing the harmful consequences of CHD. We present both theoretically and experimentally the thermo-optic characteristics of micro-structured optical fiber (MOF) filled with mixed liquid. The performance of MOF depends on the efficient interaction between the fundamental mode of the transmitted light wave and the tunable thermo-optic materials in the cladding. The numerical simulation indicates that the confinement loss of MOF presents higher temperature dependence with higher air-filling ratios d/Λ, longer incident wavelength and fewer air holes in the cladding. For the 4cm liquid-filled grapefruit MOF, we demonstrate from experiments that different proportions of solutions lead to tunable temperature sensitive ranges. The insertion loss and the extinction ratio are 3~4 dB and approximate 20 dB, respectively. The proposed liquid-filling MOF will be developed as thermo-optic sensor, attenuator or optical switch with the advantages of simple structure, compact configuration and easy fabrication.

This paper primarily determined the suitable technique for the preparation of WS 2 /C coating by the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with a keen focus on the criteria of coating property, deposition process, resource and equipment. Further, some cutting performances of six cutting tools with different treatments, including cutting forces, cutting temperatures, wear mechanisms, tool life, etc. were investigated in dry cutting AISI1045 steel. The optimal lubricating condition for dry cutting process was obtained when using the cutting tools configured with the combination of WS 2 /C coating and shark-skin-inspired structures. Finally, the sustainability assessment was carried out by the calculation of the product sustainability index (PSI). The highest PSI of 78.6% was obtained in case of the dry cutting experiment using WMT-2-N tools, which provided a suggested favorable alternative considering both product and manufacturing process. Thus, dry cutting AISI1045 steel using WMT-2-N tools seems to be an environmentally-friendly machining process and would be helpful to enhance sustainability.

In this paper, to further promote the photocatalytic performance of BiPO4, BiOBr was employed to couple with BiPO4. Rod-like BiOBr/BiPO4 composites with improved photocatalytic performance were facilely constructed by one-pot hydrothermal method. The composites were characterized by Brunauer -Emmett-Teller (BET) method, X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), UVeVis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS) and electron spin-resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of the samples towards degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and phenol aqueous solution was evaluated under the simulated sunlight irradiation. The SPS results reveal that the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs has been promoted due to the formation of heterojuctions. The ESR measurements demonstrate that OH and hþ are involved in the photocatalytic reaction. The photocatalytic evaluation display that the sample with molar ratio of Br/PO4 3 ¼ 0.4% holds the highest activity. The results further substantially exhibit that coupling BiPO4 with BiOBr can remarkably boost the photocatalytic performance of BiPO4, benefiting from significantly enhanced separation of photoinduced charge pairs. Based on all the observations, a Z-scheme separation and transfer scheme of the photoinduced charge pairs of BiOBr/BiPO4 was proposed.

By using high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detection, a simple and accurate chromatographic fingerprint method was developed for the identification of Radix Codonopsis (roots of Codonopsis) from different sources. Eighteen herbs of Codonopsis at different habitats in China, including roots from Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen were analyzed by the fingerprint. The amount of lobetyolin was calibrated, which was found to be more consistent in roots of Codonopsis pilosula as compared to that of Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen. Having the fingerprint results, hierarchical clustering analyses were performed to classify the eighteen herbs into three groups: Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula var. modesta and Codonopsis tangshen. This clustering analysis agrees very well with the pharmacognostic identification result, and which could be used as a tool in the quality control of Radix Codonopsis.
