• Association of Urinary Cesium with Breast Cancer Risk

        Qin, Ya-Chao,Tang, Lu-Ying,Su, Yi,Chen, Li-Juan,Su, Feng-Xi,Lin, Ying,Zhang, Ai-Hua,Ren, Ze-Fang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.22

Background: The aim of this study is to examine the association of urinary cesium with breast cancer risk. Materials and Methods: We collected survey data and urine specimens from 240 women with incident invasive breast cancer before their treatment and 246 age-matched female controls between October 2009 and July 2010. Urinary concentrations of cesium were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Interviews were conducted by face-to-face to obtain information on potential breast cancer risk factors. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the associations. Results: Creatinine-adjusted levels [median ($25^{th}$, $75^{th}$) ug/g] of cesium in cases and controls were 17.6 (13.1, 24.0) and 19.3 (15.3, 25.7), respectively. After adjustment for potential risk factors, women in the second and highest tertile of cesium showed a decreased risk of breast cancer in a dose-dependent manner as compared with those in the lowest tertile [ORs and 95% CIs: 0.75 (0.46-1.22) and 0.50 (0.30-0.82), respectively]. This decrease was more evident in women with ER positive or localized clinical stage in an exploratory stratification analysis. Conclusions: These findings suggest that cesium may have anticancer efficacy and urinary cesium has potential as a biomarker for breast cancer risk assessment.

Probabilistic Load Flow for Power Systems with Wind Power Considering the Multi-time Scale Dispatching Strategy

        Chao Qin,Yixin Yu,Yuan Zeng 대한전기학회 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.4

This paper proposes a novel probabilistic load flow model for power systems integrated with large-scale wind power, which considers the multi-time scale dispatching features. The ramp limitations of the units and the steady-state security constraints of the network have been comprehensively considered for the entire duration of the study period; thus, the coupling of the system operation states at different time sections has been taken into account. For each time section, the automatic generation control (AGC) strategy is considered, and all variations associated with the wind power and loads are compensated by all AGC units. Cumulants and the Gram–Charlier expansion are used to solve the proposed model. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated using the modified IEEE RTS 24-bus system and the modified IEEE 118-bus system.

      • Research of Acoustic Emission Testing Method with Application to Monitored for Wind Turbines

Qin Hongwu,Zhang Chao,Zhang Xian,Fan Qinyin 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.1

Acoustic Emission method of nondestructive check is based on exertion wave radiation and their registration during fast local material structure reorganization. It is used as a means of analysis of materials, constructions, productions control and diagnosis during operating time. In the article, it is applied to structural health monitoring of Wind Turbines. Acoustic emission testing is based condition monitoring system uses data already collected at the wind turbine controller. It is an effective way to monitor wind turbines for early warning of failures and performance issues. We used a number of measurements to develop anomaly detection algorithms and investigated classification techniques using clustering algorithms and principal components analysis for capturing fault signatures. When registering signal amplitude it is required to consider its frequency distribution connecting each amplitude rate with the corresponding vibration rate. The correlation and signal to noise ratio were evaluated by the algorithm based on frequency spectrum. Classical method of frequency distortion influence exclusion consists of FRF calculation with subsequent adjustment of received signals spectral characteristics.

Shaking Table Test on Seismic Responses of a Monolithic Precast Concrete Shear Wall Structure

        Chao-gang Qin,Guoliang Bai,Ya-zhou Xu,Ning Fen Su,Tao Wu,Zhong Liang Li,Yu Zhe Sun 대한토목학회 2018 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.22 No.10

To examine the seismic performance of Monolithic Precast Concrete Shear Wall (MPCSW) structure, a 1/5-scaled twelve-story model is designed and investigated by shaking table test, and connections between the precast elements and their impact on seismic performance of the overall model are comprehensively inspected and analyzed. Based on the testing results, the structural responses are divided into elastic stage and plastic stage, and the variations of dynamic characteristics, cracking and failure pattern, seismic responses of the model are accordingly presented. The experimental results indicate that most of critical cracks of the MPCSW model locate on the coupling beams and horizontal connections of precast concrete shear walls, and the fundamental frequency exhibits a successively decreasing trend during the entire testing process. Furthermore, The MPCSW model is designed in accordance with Chinese codes meets the requirement for the seismic fortification intensity of eight, and shows an adequate safety margin to resist collapse in the case of 0.90 g.

Glucosamine induces cell death via proteasome inhibition in human ALVA41 prostate cancer cell

        Bao-Qin Liu,Hua-Qin Wang,Xin Meng,Chao Li,Yan-Yan Gao,Ning Li,Xiao-Fang Niu,Yifu Guan 생화학분자생물학회 2011 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.43 No.9

Glucosamine, a naturally occurring amino monosaccharide, has been reported to play a role in the regulation of apoptosis more than half century. However the effect of glucosamine on tumor cells and the involved molecular mechanisms have not been thoroughly investigated. Glucosamine enters the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP) downstream of the rate-limiting step catalyzed by the GFAT (glutamine:fluctose-6-phosphate amidotransferase), providing UDPGlcNAc substrates for O-linked β-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) protein modification. Considering that O-GlcNAc modification of proteasome subunits inhibits its activity, we examined whether glucosamine induces growth inhibition via affecting proteasomal activity. In the present study, we found glucosamine inhibited proteasomal activity and the proliferation of ALVA41 prostate cancer cells. The inhibition of proteasomal activity results in the accumulation of ubiquitinated proteins, followed by induction of apoptosis. In addition, we demonstrated that glucosamine downregulated proteasome activator PA28γ and overexpression of PA28γ rescued the proteasomal activity and growth inhibition mediated by glucosamine. We further demonstrated that inhibition of O-GlcNAc abrogated PA28γ suppression induced by glucosamine. These findings suggest that glucosamine may inhibit growth of ALVA41 cancer cells through downregulation of PA28γ and inhibition of proteasomal activity via O-GlcNAc modification.

Glucosamine enters the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP) downstream of the rate-limiting step catalyzed by the GFAT (glutamine:fluctose- 6-phosphate amidotransferase), providing UDP-GlcNAc substrates for O-linked ${\beta}$-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) protein modification. Considering that O-GlcNAc modification of proteasome subunits inhibits its activity, we examined whether glucosamine induces growth inhibition $via$ affecting proteasomal activity. In the present study, we found glucosamine inhibited proteasomal activity and the proliferation of ALVA41 prostate cancer cells. The inhibition of proteasomal activity results in the accumulation of ubiquitinated proteins, followed by induction of apoptosis. In addition, we demonstrated that glucosamine downregulated proteasome activator $PA28{\gamma}$ and overexpression of $PA28{\gamma}$ rescued the proteasomal activity and growth inhibition mediated by glucosamine. Chao Zheng,Yonghong Liu,Hanxiang Wang,Jie Qin,Yang Shen,Shihong Zhang 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.2

Wear phenomenon has caused severe damage or failure of fracturing tools in oil and gas industry. In this paper, influence of heat treatment on the mechanical properties and wear resistance of fracturing tool made of lamellar graphite grey cast iron were investigated. The surface composition and microstructure were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and metallographic microscope. Sliding wear tests were performed to study the tribological behavior. Tests results showed that wear rates of treated specimens decreased by 33 %. Besides, worn morphology and wear debris were analyzed using Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Energy dispersive Xray spectra (EDS). Wear failure mechanisms of specimens were identified. Furthermore, on-site experiment results indicated that wear loss of treated samples decreased by 37.5 %. The wear life of hydraulic fracturing tools can be improved obviously by the heat treatment.

      • Line-scan Raman imaging and spectroscopy platform for surface and subsurface evaluation of food safety and quality

        Qin, J.,Kim, M.S.,Chao, K.,Schmidt, W.F.,Cho, B.K.,Delwiche, S.R. Applied Science Publishers 2017 Journal of food engineering Vol.198 No.-

Both surface and subsurface food inspection is important since interesting safety and quality attributes can be at different sample locations. This paper pregents a multipurpose line-scan Raman platform for food safety and quality research, which can be configured for Raman chemical imaging (RCI) mode for surface inspection and spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) mode for subsurface inspection. In the RCI mode, macro-scale imaging was achieved using a 785 nm line laser up to 24 cm long with a push broom method. In the SORS mode, a 785 nm point laser was used and a complete set of SORS data was collected in an offset range of 0-36 mm with a spatial interval of 0.07 mm using one CCD exposure. The RCI and SOPS modes share a common detection module including a dispersive imaging spectrograph and a CCD camera, covering a Raman shift range from 674 to 2865 cm(-1). A pork shoulder and an orange carrot were used to test large-field-of-view (230 min wide) and high-spatial-resolution (0.07 mm/pixel) settings of the RCI mode for food surface evaluation. Fluorescence-corrected images at selected Raman peak wavenumbers Were used to view Raman-active analytes on the whole sample surfaces (e.g., fat on the pork shoulder and carotenoids over the carrot cross section). Also, three layered samples, which were created by placing carrot slices with thicknesses of 2, 5, and 8 mm on top of melamine powder, were used to test the SORS mode for subsurface food evaluation. Raman spectra from carrot and melamine were successfully resolved for all three layered samples using self-modeling mixture analysis. The line-scan Raman imaging and spectroscopy platform provides a new tool for surface and subsurface inspection for food safety and quality. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
