A Four-dimensional (4D) Cosmology Model from a 5D Einstein Manifold Reduction
Xin-He Meng,Jie Ren,Hong-Guang Zhang 한국물리학회 2010 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.56 No.5
A five-dimensional Einstein equation with its right-hand side empty, one of the simplest extended gravity models by one more spatial dimension, induces a four-dimensional cosmological model accordingly, which suggests that the matter in the Universe originates from the one extra dimension. We consider the case in which a cosmological constant Λ exists in the 5D Universe and obtain exact solutions for Λ > 0 and Λ < 0. In the 5D Universe with a cosmological constant, not only can it be naturally reduced to the power-law Λ Cold Dark Matter (Λ CDM) model for the 4D real Universe, but also the arbitrary functions and constants in the metric are endowed with explicit physical meanings.

Meng, Ling-Xin,Chi, Yu-Hua,Wang, Xiang-Xu,Ding, Zhao-Jun,Fei, Li-Cong,Zhang, Hong,Mou, Ling,Cui, Wen,Xue, Ying-Jie Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5
Objective: To analyze the capacity of neurotrophic artemin to promote the motility and invasiveness of MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cells. Methods: MIA PaCa-2 was cultured in vitro and studied using transwell chambers for motility and invasiveness on treatment with different concentrations of aArtemin or its receptor $GFR{\alpha}3$ were also determined. Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin) was quantified using RT-PCR and Western blotting. Results: MIA PaCa-2 pancreatic cancer cell motility and invasiveness was significantly increased with artemin and its receptor $GFR{\alpha}3$ with dose dependence (P<0.01). MMP-2 production was also significantly increased (t = 6.35, t = 7.32), while E-cadherin was significantly lowered (t = 4.27, t = 5.61) (P <0.01). Conclusion: Artemin and its receptor $GFR{\alpha}3$ can promote pancreatic cancer cell motility and invasiveness and contribute to aggressive behavior. The mechanism may be related to increased expression of MMP-2 molecule and down-regulation of E-cadherin expression.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between extracellular matrix protein-1 (ECM1) and the growth, metastasis and angiogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma. Materials and Methods: Forty-five samples with laryngeal benign and malignant tumors confirmed by pathology in Laiwu City People's Hospital from March 2006 to March 2011 were collected, in which there were 29 cases with laryngeal carcinoma and 16 with benign tumors. The expression of ECM1 and factor VIII-related antigens in patients with laryngeal carcinoma and those with benign tumors was respectively detected using immunohistochemical method, and the correlation between ECM1 staining grade and microvessel density (MVD) was analyzed. Results: In laryngeal carcinoma tissue, ECM1 was mainly expressed in cytoplasm, less in cytomembrane or intercellular substance. With abundant expression in the tissue of laryngeal benign tumors (benign mesenchymoma and hemangioma), ECM1 was primarily expressed in the connective tissue, which was different from the expression in laryngeal carcinoma tissue. The proportion of positive ECM1 staining (++) in patients with laryngeal carcinoma was dramatically higher than those with benign tumors (p<0.05), and that of strongly-positive ECM1 staining (+++) slightly higher. The results of Spearman nonparametric correlation analysis revealed that ECM1 staining grade in laryngeal carcinoma tissue had a significantly-positive correlation with MVD (r=0.866, p=0.000). Conclusions: ECM1 expression in laryngeal carcinoma is closely associated with tumor cell growth, metastasis and angiogenesis, which can be considered as an effective predictor in the occurrence and postoperative recurrence of laryngeal carcinoma.

This paper aims to investigate the problem of adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) for a class of variableorder fractional (VOF) uncertain coupled systems. First, a novel VOF integral-type sliding surface composed of nonlinear coupling terms is designed with the aid of VOF calculus. Second, based on graph theory, novel asymptotical stability criteria are obtained for the obtained sliding mode dynamics. Moreover, the finite-time reachability of the predefined VOF integral-type sliding surface is ensured by designing a novel adaptive VOF controller. Finally, two numerical studies are presented to verify the validity and superiority of the proposed control strategy.

To evaluate the influence of polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (PODE) on particulate matter (PM) chemical features, PM samples emitted from diesel fuel and PODE/diesel blends at volume ratios of 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % (P10, P20, and P30) were characterized using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic (FT-IR). Results showed that adding PODE in diesel fuel could increase the proportions of the lower carbon-atom-number components and the contents of oxygen-containing compounds in the soluble organic fractions extracted from PM samples. The ratio of oxygen to carbon (O/C), the functional groups, and the nanostructure of dry soot obtained from XPS showed that the O/C rose as the PODE volume ratio increased. The graphitization degree of dry soot decreased in the order: diesel fuel > P10 > P30 > P20. The relative content of hydroxyl functional groups exhibited the same trend, while the relative content of carbonyl functional groups exhibited an opposite trend with the graphitization degree. Moreover, according to FT-IR, both the branching degree and the relative content of hydrocarbon functional groups of aliphatics are influenced by the graphitization degree of dry soot. A turning point at P20 observed by analysis results above indicated that the chemical characteristics of PM could be affected not only by fuel properties but also by the process of fuel combustion and PM formation.
Diaporthe taoicola and D. siamensis, Two New Records on Citrus sinensis in China
( Meng Jiao Cui ),( Xin Wei ),( Peng Liang Xia ),( Ji Ping Yi ),( Zhi He Yu ),( Jian Xin Deng ),( Qi Li Li ) 한국균학회 2021 Mycobiology Vol.49 No.3
Two Diaporthe species isolated from fruit of Citrus sinensis in China were characterized based on morphology and multilocus phylogeny of ITS, tef1, and tub2 gene sequences. The phylogeny indicated that the two species match Diaporthe taoicola and D. siamensis. A critical examination of phenotypic characteristics confirmed the phylogenetic results. Diaporthe taoicola was morphologically characterized by producing Alpha conidia with tapering toward both ends. Meanwhile, D. siamensis produced cylindrical or ellipsoidal Alpha conidia with two oil drops. Pathogenicity tests revealed that both species were pathogenic to fruit of C. sinensis. To our knowledge, the two species were firstly reported on Citrus sinensis in China.
A micro-grid smooth transfer control strategy based on a special slave distributed generation unit
Xin Meng,Jinjun Liu,Zeng Liu 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5
This paper proposes a novel control strategy for a micro-grid to achieve a smooth transition between gridconnected (GC) mode and stand-alone (SA) mode with the help of a special slave distributed generation (DG) unit. In the conventional smooth transfer control methods, only the control strategy of master DG unit is emphasized; and the slave DG unit outputs constant active and reactive power based on PQ control, which is useless for the smooth transition. In the proposed control strategy, the master DG units adopt the traditional hybrid voltage and current control method. When a utility outage occurs, one special slave DG unit is used to compensate the power mismatch between the output power of DG units and the power consumed by the load, which can suppress the drift of load voltage. When the grid returns to a normal state, the pre-synchronization can be achieved by regulating the output power of this special slave DG unit. The simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of this control strategy.
Effects of Allogeneic Blood Transfusion in Patients with Stage II Colon Cancer
Meng, Jin,Lu, Xiao-Bo,Tang, Yuan-Xin,Sun, Gong-Ping,Li, Xin,Yan, Yi-Fei,Liang, Gao-Feng,Ma, Si-Ping,Li, Xiao-Xia Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1
The aim of the present study was to determine whether allogeneic red blood cell transfusions showed a deleterious effect and what might be preoperative risk factors for blood transfusion in patients with TNM stage II colon cancer. Total 470 patients who fulfilled inclusion criteria were selected for a further 10-year follow-up study. We found that there were statistical significance between non-transfused and transfused group in mortality (P=0.018), local recurrence (P=0.000) and distant metastasis (P=0.040). Local recurrence and distant metastasis between 1 to 3 units and more than 3 units group did not show any significant differences. There was no difference in survival rate between non-transfused and 1 to 3 units group (log rank=0.031, P=0.860). The difference between different blood transfusion volume in transfused patients was found (78.77% vs 63.83%, P=0.006). Meanwhile, the significant difference of survival rate was existed between non-transfused group and more than 3 units group (84.83% vs 63.83%, P=0.002 ). Univariate analysis showed the following 3 variables to be associated with an increased risk of allogeneic blood transfusions: preoperative CEA level (P<0.05), location of tumor (P<0.01) and diameter of tumor (P<0.01). Multivariate analysis revealed that location of tumor and diameter of tumor are two independent factors for requirement of perioperative transfusions. Therefore, allogeneic transfusion increase the postoperative tumor mortality, local recurrence and distant metastasis in patients with stage II colon cancer. The postoperative tumor mortality, local recurrence and distant metastasis were not associated with the blood transfusion volume. The blood transfusion volume was associated with the survival rate. Location of tumor and diameter of tumor were the independent preoperative risk factors for blood transfusion.
