Background: Hydroxychloroquine(HQ) is widely used to treat for rheumatoid arthritis( RA) and connectice tissue disorders. Due to the potential of ocular toxicity, routine ophtalmological assessment(ROA) is essential for sight safety. Methods: In our outpatient clinic, patients with RA and connective tissue disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), sjogren syndorme (SS) and overlap were assessed consecutively for drug status of HQ by a standard questionnaire between December 2013 and January 2014. Patients who used HQ less than 1 year (13. 6%) were excluded from study. Ocular toxicity was taken from patients` reported. If ophthalmologist advised to cease HQ due to ocular toxicity,we accepted as ocular side effect. Patients with ocular toxicity were not reevaluated by an ophthalmologist. Cumulative HQ dosage and risk factors for ocular toxicity were assessed by using Mann-Whitney U test. Results: A total of 266 patients(90. 6% female) were enrolled. Mean age was 50±13. 5 years and median disease duration was 8 years(1-50). Median duration of HQ treatment was 6 years(1-28) and median dose was 400 mg/day. Of 46(17. 3%) patients were ceased HQ. The reasons of cease of HQ were ocular toxicity 22(47. 8%), patient non-adherence 9(19. 6%),dermatological side effect 3(6. 5%),others 12(26. 1%). 22 of all 266(%8. 3) patients developed ocular toxicity. Ocular toxicity was found more frequently in male 5/20(20%) vs 17/241(7%),p=0. 025). Median cumulative HQ dosage in patients with ocular toxicity was 864 gram (108-2160) in other words 12. 9 gr per kilogram( 1. 2-40). Older age (58±10 vs 50±13,p=0. 008),longer disease duration (14. 8±11. 5 vs 9. 2±7. 1 years,p=0. 013), and longer HQ duration (10±6. 3 vs 7. 1±5. 6 years,p=0. 023)were associated with ocular toxicity. Conclusions: Among regularly follow-up patients, ocular toxicity of HQ was not rare in a rheumatology outpatient clinic. Cumulative toxicity for ocular toxicity was 13 gram/kilogram;however, certain patients developed toxicity in 1 gram/kg/day. Although, important part of our patients was female, ocular toxicity was seen more frequently in male patients. Other risk factors such as longer disease duration, longer HQ usage and older age were also demonstrated in our patients.
Traffic Emission Modelling Using LiDAR Derived Parameters and Integrated Geospatial Model
Omer Saud Azeez,Biswajeet Pradhan,Ratiranjan Jena,정형섭,Ahmed Abdulkareem Ahmed 대한원격탐사학회 2019 大韓遠隔探査學會誌 Vol.35 No.1
Traffic emissions are the main cause of environmental pollution in cities and respiratory problems amongst people. This study developed a model based on an integration of support vector regression (SVR) algorithm and geographic information system (GIS) to map traffic carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations and produce prediction maps from micro level to macro level at a particular time gap in a day in a very densely populated area (Utara–Selatan Expressway–NKVE, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). The proposed model comprised two models: the first model was implemented to estimate traffic CO concentrations using the SVR model, and the second model was applied to create prediction maps at different times a day using the GIS approach. The parameters for analysis were collected from field survey and remote sensing data sources such as very-high-resolution aerial photos and light detection and ranging point clouds. The correlation coefficient was 0.97, the mean absolute error was 1.401 ppm and the root mean square error was 2.45 ppm. The proposed models can be effectively implemented as decisionmaking tools to find a suitable solution for mitigating traffic jams near tollgates, highways and road networks.
Can a Periodic VER Raise Importing Country Welfare?
( Omer Gokcekus ),( Edward Tower ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 1997 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.12 No.4
Several authors have argued that if exporting firms anticipate a voluntary export restriction in a future period, and they expect VERs to be allocated in proportion to past exports, then they have an incentive to dump in the earlier period. In this paper we ask: How does a regime characterized by periodic VERs affect aggregate welfare, consumer welfare and import-competing producer welfare in the importing country? We discover paradoxically, that the answers are all uncertain. However, such a regime always shrinks worldwide efficiency, and normally, for the importer it shrinks aggregate welfare and consumer welfare and raises producer welfare. (JEL Classification: F13)
On deferred Cesaro summability and statistical convergence for the sets of triple sequences
Omer Kisi,Mehmet Gurdal 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2022 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.24 No.2
In this paper, we investigate the concept of deferred Cesaro mean in the Wijsman sense for triple sequences. We present the concepts of strongly deferred Cesaro summability and deferred statistical convergence in the Wijsman sense for triple sequences of sets. Also, we examine the relationships between these notions and then we prove various theorems associated with the deferred statistical convergence in the Wijsman sense for triple sequences of sets.
Fiber reinforced concrete L-beams under combined loading
Omer Farouk Ibraheem,B.H. Abu Bakar,I. Joharib 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2014 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.14 No.1
The addition of steel fibers in concrete mixture is recognized as a non-conventional mass reinforcement scheme that improves the torsional, flexural, and shear behavior of structural members. However, the analysis of fiber reinforcedconcrete beams under combined torsion, bending, and shear is limited because of the complicated nature of the problem. Therefore, nonlinear 3D finite element analysis was conducted using the “ANSYS CivilFEM” program to investigate the behavior of fiber reinforced concrete L-beams. These beams were tested at different reinforcement schemes and loading conditions. The reinforcement case parameters were set as follows: reinforced with longitudinal reinforcement only and reinforced with steel bars and stirrups. All beams were tested under two different combined loading conditions, namely, torsion-to-shear ratio (T/V) = 545 mm (high eccentricity) and T/V = 145 mm (low eccentricity). Eight intermediate L-beams were constructed and tested in a laboratory under combined torsion, bending, and shear to validate the finite element model. Comparisons with the experimental data reveal that the program can accurately predict the behavior of L-beams under different reinforcement cases and combined loading ratios. The ANSYS model accurately predicted the loads and deformations for various types of reinforcements in L-beams and captured the concrete strains of these beams.
Fibonacci lacunary statistical convergence in intuitionistic fuzzy $n$-normed linear spaces
Omer Kisi,Ibrahim Tuzcuoglu 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2020 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.20 No.3
In the current paper, we investigate the concept of Fibonacci lacunary statistical convergence in intuitionistic fuzzy $n$-normed linear spaces which removes any ambiguity that could arise from the previously defined notion of the same. Some inclusion relations between the sets of Fibonacci statistically convergent and Fibonacci lacunary statistically convergent sequences are examined in an intuitionistic fuzzy $n$-normed linear space. We also define Fibonacci lacunary statistical Cauchy sequence in an intuitionistic fuzzy $n$-normed linear space and prove that it is equivalent to Fibonacci lacunary statistically convergent sequence.
Squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in a virgin patient with Turner syndrome
Omer Lutfi Tapisiz,Onur Topcu,Tayfun Gungor,Bulent Ozdal,Levent Sirvan,Ahmet Yesilyurt 대한부인종양학회 2011 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.22 No.3
Two types of gynecologic tumors are commonly described in the Turner syndrome, the first one is gonadoblastoma, which occurs in patients with Y chromosome abnormalities, and the second one is endometrial carcinoma which is mostly related with exogenous estrogen usage. Here, we describe an extremely rare case of squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in a virgin woman with Turner syndrome. A 35-years old single, virgin woman referred to our Oncology Department with warty, necrotized, exophytic 6-7 cm vulvar mass. She had a history of primary amenorrhea and mosaic Turner syndrome was determined in her karyotype analysis. Biopsy specimen of the vulvar mass revealed squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva, and total vulvectomy with inguinal femoral lymphadenectomy was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful and there has been no recurrence of the disease up to date. Women with Turner syndrome have streak ovaries that produce very low estrogen and the squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva may have developed at an early age with Turner syndrome because of this low estrogen value similar to postmenopausal women. The current case is a special case due to its age of occurrence, virgin and Turner syndrome status.
Intraperitoneally Placed Foley Catheter via Verumontanum Initially Presenting as a Bladder Rupture
Omer A Raheem,정영범 대한의학회 2011 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.26 No.9
Since urethral Foley catheterization is usually easy and safe, serious complications related to this procedure have been rarely reported. Herein, we describe a case of intraperitoneally placed urethral catheter via verumontanum presenting as intraperitoneal bladder perforation in a chronically debilitated elderly patient. A 82-yr-old male patient was admitted with symptoms of hematuria, lower abdominal pain after traumatic Foley catheterization. The retrograde cystography showed findings of intraperitoneal bladder perforation, but emergency laparotomy with intraoperative urethrocystoscopy revealed a tunnel-like false passage extending from the verumontanum into the rectovesical pouch between the posterior wall of the bladder and the anterior wall of the rectum with no bladder injury. The patient was treated with simple closure of the perforated rectovesical pouch and a placement of suprapubic cystostomy tube.
