      • An Introduction to Immigration Laws of Vietnam

        베트남이 통일된 지 36년이 지났다. 통일 당시 해외로 도피했던 교민들이 이제는 해외에서 형성한 부를 모국 베트남의 국가건설 에 투자하면서 자신의 정체성을 찾고자 한다. 2010년 현재 베트남 의 해외교민 4백30만 명 중 약 3백만 명 이상이 북미에 거주하고 있다. 이들은 베트남 전쟁 후 이주한 세대와 그 자손들이 대부분 인데, 베트남 정부는 해외교민을 ‘과거에 집착해서 큰 것을 놓치 면 안 된다’는 철저한 실용주의 원칙으로 대하고 있다. 베트남 부 는 민족이라는 기치아래 국가발전을 위한 베트남인의 대단결을 호소하고 있으며 해외교민의 국내 투자와 국내귀국을 독려하고 있다. 베트남정부는 베트남을 출입국 및 통과하는 외국인들에게 최상 의 환경을 제공하며; 베트남 법률과 베트남이 국제조약에 맺은 규 정에 의하여 베트남에 거주하는 외국인의 생명, 재산, 권리 및 기 타의 이익을 보호하도록 규정하고 있다. 베트남에 출입국, 통과, 거주하는 외국인은 베트남의 전통, 풍습, 습관 및 베트남의 법을 준수하고 존중해야 한다. 베트남의 출입국, 통과, 거주가 법률위반 을 위한 목적으로 이용되는 것을 엄격히 금하고 있으며 외국인 출입국, 통과, 거 주에 관하여 베트남이 국제조약에서 맺은 규정과 이 법령 규정사이에 차이가 있다면 국제협정규정이 우선하도록 하고 있다. 외국인은 신고한 입국목적과 맞게 외국인 왕래금지 구역을 제 외하고 베트남 영토 내에 자유스럽게 다닐 수 있다. 금지구역에 출입하려면 금지구역을 관리하는 정부심사기관의 허가를 받아야 한다. 또한 장기체류 외국인은 공안부 출입국관리기관에서 장기체 류증을 발급 받는다. 이 장기체류증을 소지한 자는 베트남 출입국 시 비자가 면제된다.

        The Influence of Organizational Culture on Employees’ Satisfaction and Commitment in SMEs: A Case Study in Vietnam

        The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of organizational culture on job satisfaction and organizational commitment among employees in small and medium-sized enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The study hypothesized that organizational culture has a significant influence on employees’ satisfaction and that satisfaction also significantly impactsorganizational commitment among employees. The data are collected from a sample of 240 office employees. Structural Equation Modeling is used to determine the influence of organizational culture dimensions,including open working environment, salary, and rewards, empowerment, management style, corporate values, on employees’ satisfaction and organizational commitment. The findings showed that the five dimensions of organizational culture positively impact employees’ satisfaction and that job satisfaction significantly influences organizational commitment. Thus, job satisfaction serves as the bridge between organizational culture and commitment. The current study contributes to providing a practical insight into the relationships between organizational culture, employees’ job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Based on that, managers can develop suitable personnel policies for their organizations to simultaneously enhance employees’ performance and satisfaction, which makes them stay with the company.

        The Role of Non-Governmental Organizations in the Climate Change Response Policies in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

        NGOs play a crucial role in climate change response strategies in Vietnam through their involvement in policymaking. This study reviews the areas of NGO engagement in climate change policies in the context of Ho Chi Minh City, and presents suggestions for improving their participation. Based on the theory of climate services, it employed a content analysis technique using NVivo 11 software to examine the participation of 30 registered NGOs. The results indicate that engagement in climate change response policies is comparable to that reported in other studies on the same topic. NGO participation in the implementation of climate change response policies focuses primarily on policy lobbying, community capacity building, research and consultation, and livelihood development. NGOs have played a crucial role in assisting and supporting the most severely affected communities by helping people consolidate and enhance their capacity to adjust to the effects of climate change through adaptation measures, disaster preparedness, and capacity building.

        <P>In this study, a novel method has been proposed for synthesizing amorphous GeO2/C composites. The amorphous GeO2/C composite without carbon black as an electrode for Li-ion batteries exhibited a high specific capacity of 914 mA h g(-1) at the rate of C/2 and enhanced rate capability. The amorphous GeO2/C electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical stability with a 95.3% charge capacity retention after 400 charge-discharge cycles, even at a high current charge-discharge of C/2. Furthermore, a full cell employing the GeO2/C anode and the LiCoO2 cathode displayed outstanding cycling performance. The superior performance of the GeO2/C electrode enables the amorphous GeO2/C to be a potential anode material for secondary Li-ion batteries.</P>

      • Structure-activity relationship investigation of Phe-Arg mimetic region of human glutaminyl cyclase inhibitors

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Glutamyl cyclase (QC) is a promising therapeutic target because of its involvement in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. In this study, we developed novel QC inhibitors that contain 3-aminoalkyloxy-4-methoxyphenyl and 4-aminoalkyloxyphenyl groups to replace the previously developed pharmacophore. Several potent inhibitors were identified, showing IC<SUB>50</SUB> values in a low nanomolar range, and were further studied for <I>in vitro</I> toxicity and <I>in vivo</I> activity. Among these, inhibitors <B>51</B> and <B>53</B> displayed the most potent Aβ<SUB>N3pE−40</SUB>-lowering effects in <I>in vivo</I> acute model with reasonable BBB penetration, without showing cytotoxicity and <I>h</I>ERG inhibition. The molecular modeling analysis of <B>53</B> indicated that the salt bridge interaction and the hydrogen bonding in the active site provided a high potency. Given the potent activity and favorable BBB penetration with low cytotoxicity, we believe that compound <B>53</B> may serve as a potential candidate for anti-Alzheimer’s agents.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Two-Wheeled Welding Mobile Robot for Tracking a Smooth Curved Welding Path Using Adaptive Sliding-Mode Control Technique

        In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive sliding-mode method which has a sliding surface vector including new boundizing function is proposed and applied to a two-wheeled welding mobile robot (WMR). This controller makes the welding point of WMR achieve tracking a reference point which is moving on a smooth curved welding path with a desired constant velocity. The mobile robot is considered in view of a kinematic model and a dynamic model in Cartesian coordinates. The proposed controller can overcome uncertainties and external disturbances by adaptive sliding-mode technique. To design the controller, the tracking error vector is defined, and then the sliding surface vector including new boundizing function and the adaptation laws are chosen to guarantee that the error vector converges to zero asymptotically. The stability of the dynamic system is shown through the Lyapunov method. In addition, a simple way of measuring the enol'S by potentiometers is introduced. The simulations and experimental results are shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

      • CMOS 28 nm Fully On-Chip wideband Circulator IC

        Herein, we verify the CMOS non-magnetic non-reciprocal passive circulator based on 4-path staggered commutation network that can break Lorentz reciprocity and replace ferrite-based circulator used for decades in history of wireless communication. The circulator prototype is designed in Samsung 28nm RF process, operated at 2.16 GHz, which exhibits 5 dB of loss in the transmitter-antenna (TX-ANT), 6.6 dB in the antenna-receiver (ANT-RX) path and has high isolation (TX-RX) up to 40 dB at single frequency of 2.16 GHz. To extend bandwidth of operation, we propose 3 on-chip branches of negative capacitor circuit (NCAP) delay lines instead of passive LC network counterparts. Besides, the clock generator is integrated on chip to guarantee a very compacted design. The measured results shows that the proposed circulator can work in the bandwidth of 65 MHz from 1.985 GHz to and 2.05 GHz and suffers 6 dB, 9dB maximum in-band loss for TX-ANT, ANT-RX path respectively while the TX-RX path achieves 40.5 dB of minimum isolation. The circulator IC costs a die area of only 1.1 x 1 mm². The IC consumes 7.2 mW for clock generator part, 14.4 mW for clock divider part and 54 mW for NCAP delay lines.

      • A novel correlation for predicting the thermal conductivity of heterogeneous nanofiller polymer composites under effects of thermal contact resistance

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Heterogeneous nanofillers have been regarded as a promising candidate for enhancing the thermal conductivity (TC) of pure polymers. In this study, the effective thermal conductivity (ETC) of polymer composites containing heterogeneous nanofiller is investigated by numerical approach. Many effects of effective parameters are examined, which are the TC ratios between the nanofillers and the matrix (<I>κ</I> <SUB>1</SUB> and <I>κ</I> <SUB>2</SUB>), the volume fractions (<I>ϕ</I> <SUB>1</SUB> and <I>ϕ</I> <SUB>2</SUB>), and the thermal contact resistance (<I>R</I> <SUB>c1</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> and <I>R</I> <SUB>c2</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP>). Consequently, the ETC depends significantly on a ratio <I>R</I> <SUB>c1</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP>/<I>R</I> <SUB>c2</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> and becomes asymmetrical when their sum <I>R</I> <SUB>c1</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> + <I>R</I> <SUB>c2</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> is large, suggesting that to gain higher ETC, <I>R</I> <SUB>c1</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> should be less than <I>R</I> <SUB>c2</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP> when <I>ϕ</I> <SUB>1</SUB> is greater than <I>ϕ</I> <SUB>2</SUB> and vice versa. Based on the numerical results, a novel correlation for predicting the ETC is proposed as a function of five non-dimensional parameters: <I>ϕ</I> <SUB>1</SUB>, <I>ϕ</I> <SUB>2</SUB>, <I>κ</I> <SUB>1</SUB>, <I>κ</I> <SUB>2</SUB>, and <I>R</I> <SUB>c</SUB> <SUP>∗</SUP>. This correlation can be widely utilized for predicting the TC of heterogeneous-nanofiller polymer composites accurately and effectively.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Effective thermal conductivity (ETC) decreases as the thermal contact resistance (TCR) of both nanoparticles increases, and its variation depends significantly on the relation between the TCRs. </LI> <LI> A novel correlation for predicting the ETC of hybrid-nanofiller polymer composites is proposed as a function of five non-dimensional parameters. </LI> <LI> Many good guidance are provided for enhancing the ETC of hybrid-nanofiller polymer composites under the effects of TCR. </LI> </UL> </P>
