        The enlightenment by means of the dental health education is important in the prevention and control of the dental disease, and it is directly related to the prolonged dental health that the dental health education and effective dental hygiene control in the period of dental caries and periodicities are progressing. So, To offer the frame of education course and goal setting in the make-up of planning school dental health project, the knowledge and attitude to the dental health in the middle and high school student, male and female, 600, are surveyed. The result is as following. 1. The 71.8% students of the participants have toothbrush in a day, two times, and the female to male, the high school students to middle school students have many. 2. The periodicities factor(30.3%) is first problem in the chief complaints and following dental caries (16.0%) is trauma(7.3%). The 76.5% of all participants had experienced dental caries, especially female high school students as first(82.7%). Also, the 16.0% of all participants have experienced dental caries. 3. The ratio of periodical dental examination is higher, middle school student than high school student, and the ratio of dental caries and periodicities, vice versa. Middle school students have more dental health education in school, and high school students have more insight the education necessity from the school dental health specialist. 4. The chief purpose of sustaining dental hygiene is preventing dental caries and periodicities, the next is preventing foul breath and saving expense. And have statistical significant difference between male and female in high school students. 5. Middle school students think that the best important factor to sustaining dental health is tooth brushing, but high school students think that the periodical dental examination is first. 6. They have the correct knowledge that to preventing dental caries, periodical dental examination and proper tooth brushing. But the less than half of them did not know fact that the use of fluorine is effective in preventing dental caries, and have statistical significant difference between male and female in middle school studnets. 7. The 70.0% of the participants have the insight that scaling is effective to preventing periodicities, but the 84.2% of the participants have the wrong knowledge that the side effect of scaling is problematic. 8. All of the participants have no information that the use of floss is helpful to preventing periodicities. 9. The more than half have low dental health score, statistical difference and interaction effect is appeared in the degree between degree and sex.

        The effects of polyols, isocyanates. surfactants and water on the physical properties of the polyurethane foam were investigated. The resin used in this study was prepared from a variety of polyol mixtures by adding catalyst, surfactant and cross-linker. The polyurethane was foamed from the resin by adding an equivalent amount of isocyanate and was used in property measurements. The physical properties were more affected by the type of isocyanates and the amount of water than the sound absorption coefficient. The sound absorption coefficient of the polyurethane foam was superior for the polyol mixture of KE-810(40%)FA-733(40%)/FA-703(20%). The sound absorption coefficient was increased with the amount of surfactant L-5309 up to 3000Hz, but was decreased above that frequency.

        Computational Drug Discovery Approach Based on Nuclear Factor-κB Pathway Dynamics

        The NF-${\kappa}B$ system of transcription factors plays a crucial role in inflammatory diseases, making it an important drug target. We combined quantitative structure activity relationships for predicting the activity of new compounds and quantitative dynamic models for the NF-${\kappa}B$ network with intracellular concentration models. GFA-MLR QSAR analysis was employed to determine the optimal QSAR equation. To validate the predictability of the $IKK{\beta}$ QSAR model for an external set of inhibitors, a set of ordinary differential equations and mass action kinetics were used for modeling the NF-${\kappa}B$ dynamic system. The reaction parameters were obtained from previously reported research. In the IKKb QSAR model, good cross-validated $q^2$ (0.782) and conventional $r^2$ (0.808) values demonstrated the correlation between the descriptors and each of their activities and reliably predicted the $IKK{\beta}$ activities. Using a developed simulation model of the NF-${\kappa}B$ signaling pathway, we demonstrated differences in $I{\kappa}B$ mRNA expression between normal and different inhibitory states. When the inhibition efficiency increased, inhibitor 1 (PS-1145) led to long-term oscillations. The combined computational modeling and NF-${\kappa}B$ dynamic simulations can be used to understand the inhibition mechanisms and thereby result in the design of mechanism-based inhibitors.

        Small Heterodimer Partner Blocks Cardiac Hypertrophy by Interfering With GATA6 Signaling

        <P><B><U>Rationale</U>:</B></P><P>Small heterodimer partner (SHP; NR0B2) is an atypical orphan nuclear receptor that lacks a conventional DNA-binding domain. Through interactions with other transcription factors, SHP regulates diverse biological events, including glucose metabolism in liver. However, the role of SHP in adult heart diseases has not yet been demonstrated.</P><P><B><U>Objective</U>:</B></P><P>We aimed to investigate the role of SHP in adult heart in association with cardiac hypertrophy.</P><P><B><U>Methods and Results</U>:</B></P><P>The roles of SHP in cardiac hypertrophy were tested in primary cultured cardiomyocytes and in animal models. SHP-null mice showed a hypertrophic phenotype. Hypertrophic stresses repressed the expression of SHP, whereas forced expression of SHP blocked the development of hypertrophy in cardiomyocytes. SHP reduced the protein amount of Gata6 and, by direct physical interaction with Gata6, interfered with the binding of Gata6 to GATA-binding elements in the promoter regions of natriuretic peptide precursor type A. Metformin, an antidiabetic agent, induced SHP and suppressed cardiac hypertrophy. The metformin-induced antihypertrophic effect was attenuated either by SHP small interfering RNA in cardiomyocytes or in SHP-null mice.</P><P><B><U>Conclusions</U>:</B></P><P>These results establish SHP as a novel antihypertrophic regulator that acts by interfering with GATA6 signaling. SHP may participate in the metformin-induced antihypertrophic response.</P>

        Treatment Option for High Grade Spleen Injury and Predictive Factors for Non-operative Management

        Purpose: Purpose: The prognostic factors of non-operative management (NOM) in high-grade spleen injuries have been extensively studied, but factors that would help treatment decisions are lacking. We compared the characteristics of the patients to identify the factors affecting treatment choices. Methods: This is a review of 207 blunt spleen injury patients from January 2004 to December 2013. We compared clinical features and mortality between surgery and NOM, and used multivariate regression analysis to find the factor most strongly associated with prognosis. Results: Of the 207 patients, 107 had high-grade spleen injury patents (grade III or above). Of these, 42 patients underwent surgery and 65 patients underwent NOM. The mortality was 7% following surgery, 3% with NOM. The amount of packed red blood cells transfused in the first 24 hours and spleen injury grade were associated with management type, and mortality was highly associated with activated par tial thromboplas-tin time (aPTT) and spleen injury grade. Conclusions: The grade of spleen injury was associated with management and mortality, so correctly assessing the spleen injury grade is important.

      • Analysis of Whole Crop Barley Silage for Forage Quality Contest in Korea

        Although whole crop barley are now widely grown as a silage crop in Korea, but silage quality of the whole crop barley produced from farmer's fields have not been published. Therefore, this experiment was conducted to evaluate forage quality of whole crop barley which was participated in Korean quality contest in 2008. These data were classified by region, forage production, added inoculants, planting date and harvest date. Difference on lactic acid of barley silage was detected in the region (p<0.05), however, there no significant differences in other chemical composition. The moisture and lactic acid were significant differences in dry matter yield of barley silage. There is all the difference between silage added inoculants and control. Differences between planting dates in ash and crude protein (CP) were detected in barley silage (p<0.05). From comparison within harvest date, lactic acid ㏊d significant differences among barley silage. Differences in forage quality were observed among whole crop barley for silage. Therefore, nutritional quality as well as lactic acid is important in silage quality contest of whole crop barley.

        최근에 청보리 사일리지는 국내에서 가장 많이 이용하는 조사료이지만 농가에서 제조한 사일리지의 품질에 관한 분석은 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 2008년 사일리지 품질경연대회에 출품한 농가의 청보리 사일리지 33점의 품질을 평가하고자 실시하였다. 품질평가는 생산지역, 생산량, 첨가제 사용유무, 파종시기 및 수확시기에 따라 비교하였다. 청보리 사일리지 생산지역별 품질의 비교에서는 젖산 함량은 생산지역, 건물수량, 첨가제사용유무, 수확시기에서 처리간의 유의적인 차이가 있었으나, 다른 성분은 부분적으로 처리 간에 유의적인 차이가 있었다. 즉, 수분 함량은 농가의 건물수량에서, pH는 첨가제 사용유무에서, 조회분 함량은 첨가제와 파종시기에서 처리 간에 유의적인 차이가 있었다. 또한 조단백질은 생산지역, 조지방은 생산지역, 건물수량 및 수확시기에서 유의적인 차이가 있었으나, 비섬유성탄수화물은 파종시기에서 처리간에 차이가 있었다. 한편 조사료 평가의 중요한 요인인 NDF, ADF 및 RFV는 청보리 생산지역에서만 처리간에 차이가 있었다. 따라서 청보리 사일지리의 품질에서는 수분과 pH 뿐만아니라 화학성분과 유기산 평가도 중요한 요인으로 평가되었다. 특히 유기산 중에서 젖산 함량은 청보리 사일리지의 품질 평가에 중요한 요인으로 평가되었다. The barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is now widely grown as a whole crop silage in Korea, but the quality of that silage does not examined from farms. Therefore, this experiment was conducted to evaluate the forage quality of whole crop barley that was participated in Silage Quality Contest in 2008. These data were classified by region, dry matter (DM) yield, with or not additive, planting and harvest date. Difference on the lactic acid content of barley silage was detected in the region, DM yield, additive and harvest date (p<0.05), however, there were partially significant differences in chemical composition. There were significant differences among moisture content in DM yield, pH in additive, and crude ash content in additive and planting date of barley silage. Crude protein content was significant difference in the region, and ether extract content was in region, DM yield and harvest date, however, non-fiber carbohydrate was significant difference in planting date of barley silage. Neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and relative feed value were significant difference only in the cultivation region of whole crop barley. According to this experiment, differences in the silage quality were observed among whole crop barley silages. Therefore, nutritive value as well as moisture and pH are important in silage quality evaluation of whole crop barley. Especially, lactic acid is an important factor for the evaluation of whole crop barley silage.

      • Effects of Composted Cattle Manure Application on the Productivity of Forages Under Rye and Whole Crop Rice Double Cropping System in Asan, Korea

        The experimental work was conducted to investigate the effects of the application level of composted cattle manure (CCM) on forage productivity using rye-whole crop rice (WCR) double cropping system for 3 years. Main plot was consisted of application level of CCM such as 150%, 200% and control plot. The total DMY of of rye-WCR in treatment of CCM 150% significantly decreased as compared with that of treatment of CF and CCM 200%. However, NDF, ADF and CP content of rye and WCR were hardly influenced by CCM application.
