KCNQ2 Encephalopathy Showing a Distinct Ictal Amplitude- Integrated Electroencephalographic Pattern

KCNQ2 mutations induce a neonatal-onset epileptic encephalopathy of widely varying severity, ranging from benign familial neonatal epilepsy to severe refractory epileptic encephalopathy. Refractory seizures with KCNQ2 mutations have a positive response to sodium-channel blockers. Recently, a distinctive ictal pattern has been reported during amplitude-integrated electroencephalographic (aEEG) monitoring in infants with KCNQ2 encephalopathy. Herein, we describe a case of KCNQ2 encephalopathy with this distinctive ictal aEEG pattern, which was confirmed using conventional electroencephalography (EEG). A 3-day-old female infant presented with neonatal seizures accompanied by cyanosis and desaturation. Her seizure semiology was tonic and focal clonic. Her ictal aEEG demonstrated a sudden rise in amplitude followed by a suppressed background pattern. This pattern was also confirmed on conventional EEG. Her seizures were refractory despite the administration of multiple conventional antiepileptic drugs. Finally, c.794C>T; p. (Ala265Val) mutation was observed in the KCNQ2 gene on genetic testing, and she was diagnosed with KCNQ2 encephalopathy. Identifying this distinctive ictal pattern on aEEG monitoring facilitates the early detection of KCNQ2 encephalopathy and timely targeted treatment in patients with refractory seizures.
Comparison of sensorless dimming control based on building modeling and solar power generation

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Artificial lighting in office buildings accounts for about 30% of the total building energy consumption. Lighting energy is important to reduce building energy consumption since artificial lighting typically has a relatively large energy conversion factor. Therefore, previous studies have proposed a dimming control using daylight. When applied dimming control, method based on building modeling does not need illuminance sensors. Thus, it can be applied to existing buildings that do not have illuminance sensors. However, this method does not accurately reflect real-time weather conditions. On the other hand, solar power generation from a PV (photovoltaic) panel reflects real-time weather conditions. The PV panel as the sensor improves the accuracy of dimming control by reflecting disturbance. Therefore, we compared and analyzed two types of sensorless dimming controls: those based on the building modeling and those that based on solar power generation using PV panels.</P> <P>In terms of energy savings, we found that a dimming control based on building modeling is more effective than that based on solar power generation by about 6%. However, dimming control based on solar power generation minimizes the inconvenience to occupants and can also react to changes in solar radiation entering the building caused by dirty window.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We conducted sensorless dimming control based on solar power generation. </LI> <LI> Dimming controls using building modeling and solar power generation were compared. </LI> <LI> The real time weather conditions can be considered by using solar power generation. </LI> <LI> Dimming control using solar power generation minimizes inconvenience to occupants. </LI> </UL> </P>
컴퓨터 기반 매개 커뮤니케이션 내 준 언어적 신호에 대한 탐색적 연구

다양한 온라인 커뮤니케이션 플랫폼의 발달로 인해 사람들의 일상 생활에서 컴퓨터 매개 커뮤니케이션(CMC) 은 큰 일부가 되었다. 언어적, 그리고 비언어적으로 소통하는 대면 커뮤니케이션과 달리, 텍스트 베이스인 CMC 환경에서 사용자들은 어떻게 효과적으로 감정표현과 의사전달을 하고 있는지에 대한 연구는 다양한 방법으로 접근되어 왔다. 사용자는 새로운 환경 안에서 준 언어적 신호를 사용하여 적응하며 끊임 없이 새로운 방법을 모색하고 있다는 연구가 대부분이다. 하지만 텍스트 안에 내포된 다양한 준 언어적 요소의 범주는 모든 연구 마다 상이하며, 중요시 여겨지는 요소와 관점 또한 일치되지 않는다. 본 연구는 CMC 환경에서 나타나는 준 언어적 신호를 메타 분석을 통해 체계적으로 분류하려 한다.

본고에서는 영산강유역의 대형석실묘에서 출토되는 관고리와 관정의 두부 형태, 목질흔, 석실 내 출토현황 등을 통해 개별 고분의 목관부속구 조합 양상을 살펴본 후 이를 비교하여 목관부속구에 따른 단계를 설정하였다. 그리고 이를 공주 왕릉원, 금학동고분군 등 웅진기 왕도 자료와 비교하면서 목관부속구의 변천 의미를 파악해 보았다. 영산강유역 대형석실묘에서 출토된 목관부속구를 검토하고 목관부속구 조합 양상을 파악한 결과, 크게 무두정이 소수 사용되는 1단계, 관고리를 사용하지 않거나 무받침쇠관고리와 함께 주로 방두정계 관정이 사용되는 2단계, 원형관고리와 함께 원두정계 관정이 사용되는 3단계, 그리고 일부 지역에 한정되지만 방형관고리가 추가되며 원두정계 관정이 이어지는 4단계로 나누었다. 각 단계의 시기는 1단계 5세기 후엽, 2단계 6세기 전후~6세기 전엽, 3단계 6세기 중엽의 이른시기(웅진기말~사비기초), 4단계 6세기 중엽의 늦은시기로 추정된다. 영산강유역은 웅진기에 지역과 시기에 따라 목관부속구 양상이 차이를 보이는데, 웅진기 전반에는 나주 다시면일대에서 관정이 사용되어 이 지역세력이 일찍부터 백제와 관계가 있었던 것으로 추정된다. 특히, 웅진기 후반에 영산강유역의 북부지역을 중심으로 왕릉급고분의 목관(부속구) 조합 양상이 장고분 등의 고분에서 나타나고 그 이후에도 중앙과 비슷한 변화를 보이며 영산강유역 내에서도 위계 차이가 나타난 점에서 이 지역의 고분 조영세력들은 백제 중앙과 긴밀한 관계를 가지면서 왜와의 교류 등 다양한 역할을 했던 것으로 추정된다. 그리고 사비기를 전후하여 나주세지면일대에서 백제 중앙의 목관부속구가 나타나는 것도 주목된다. 목관 사용은 고분 매장의례에서 중요한 부분을 차지하는 것으로, 영산강유역에서 백제 왕릉급고분 등 중앙과 동일한 목관(부속구)를 사용했다는 것은 백제 중앙과 거의 동일한 매장의례를 행했음을 알려주는 단적인 자료로 추정된다. This paper presents the stages of the wooden coffin accessories of the large stone chamber tombs in the Yeongsan River Basin based on an examination and comparison of those wooden coffin accessories. In addition, through a comparison with examples from of the Baekje capital during the Ungjin period, the way in which the meaning of the wooden coffin accessories changed was observed. In the Ungjin period tombs of the Yeongsan River basin, wooden coffin accessories of different types were excavated, and it is believed that two to three coffins were generally used. The combination of wooden coffin accessories can be divided into four stages: the first stage is when headless nails were used; the second stage is when square-headed nails were used; the third stage is when circular coffin rings and round-headed nails were used; the fourth stage is when square coffin rings were added and round-headed nails continued to be used. It is estimated that the first stage is at the late of the 5th century, the second stage is early of the 6th century, the third and fourth stage is at the mid-6th century. The wooden coffin accessories excavated from Ungjin tombs in the Yeongsan River Basin differ in distribution pattern, and in the first half of the Ungjin period, such artifacts were identified in Dasi, Naju, and it is estimated that this area was related to Baekje from early on. In the late Ungjin period, the wooden coffins of the Baekje royal class tombs appear in the northern tombs of the Yeongsan River Basin and subsequently change in a similar manner. It is estimated that the groups that constructed the tombs in this region emerged through various roles, while maintaining a close relationship with the capital of Baekje. In addition, it is noteworthy that in the southwestern region of Naju in the early Sabi period, a pattern of wooden accessory combinations similar to that of the Baekje capital appeared. The use of wooden coffins was an important part of the burial ritual of ancient tombs, and it can be estimated, through the wooden coffin accessories, that almost the same burial rituals as that of the capital of Baekje were performed.
