      • Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of EFGR Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Monotherapy with Standard Second-line Chemotherapy in Previously Treated Advanced Non-small-cell Lung Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

        Qi, Wei-Xiang,Shen, Zan,Lin, Feng,Sun, Yuan-Jue,Min, Da-Liu,Tang, Li-Na,He, Ai-Na,Yao, Yang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.10

Purpose: To compare the efficacy and safety of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitormonotherapy (EFGR-TKIs: gefitinib or erlotinib) with standard second-line chemotherapy (single agent docetaxel or pemetrexed) in previously treated advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: We systematically searched for randomized clinical trials that compared EGFR-TKI monotherapy with standard second-line chemotherapy in previously treated advanced NSCLC. The end points were overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), overall response rate (ORR), 1-year survival rate (1-year SR) and grade 3 or 4 toxicities. The pooled hazard ratio (HR) or risk ratio (RR), with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated employing fixed- or random-effects models depending on the heterogeneity of the included trials. Results: Eight randomized controlled trials (totally 3218 patients) were eligible. Our meta-analysis results showed that EGFR-TKIs were comparable to standard second-line chemotherapy for advanced NSCLC in terms of overall survival (HR 1.00, 95%CI 0.92-1.10; p=0.943), progression-free survival (HR 0.90, 95%CI 0.75-1.08, P=0.258) and 1-year-survival rate (RR 0.97, 95%CI 0.87-1.08, P=0.619), and the overall response rate was higher in patients who receiving EGFR-TKIs(RR 1.50, 95%CI 1.22-1.83, P=0.000). Sub-group analysis demonstrated that EGFR-TKI monotherapy significantly improved PFS (HR 0.73, 95%CI: 0.55-0.97, p=0.03) and ORR (RR 1.96, 95%CI: 1.46-2.63, p=0.000) in East Asian patients, but it did not translate into increase in OS and 1-year SR. Furthermore, there were fewer incidences of grade 3 or 4 neutropenia, febrile neutropenia and neutrotoxicity in EGFR-TKI monotherapy group, excluding grade 3 or 4 rash. Conclusion: Both interventions had comparable efficacy as second-line treatments for patients with advanced NSCLC, and EGFR-TKI monotherapy was associated with less toxicity and better tolerability. Moreover, our data also demonstrated that EGFR-TKImonotherapy tended to be more effective in East Asian patients in terms of PFS and ORR compared with standard second-line chemotherapy. These results should help inform decisions about patient management and design of future trials.

Beneficial effects of andrographolide in a rat model of autoimmune myocarditis and its effects on PI3K/Akt pathway

        Qi Zhang,Li-qun Hu,Hong-qi Li,Jun Wu,Na-na-Bian,Guang Yan 대한약리학회 2019 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.23 No.2

The study is to investigate effects of andrographolide on experimental autoimmune myocarditis (EAM). Lewis rats were immunized on day 0 with porcine cardiac myosin to establish EAM. The EAM rats were treated with either andrographolide (25, 50, 100 mg/kg/day) or vehicle for 21 days. An antigen-specific splenocytes proliferation assay was performed by using the cells from control rats immunized with cardiac myosin. Survival rates, myocardial pathology and myocardial functional parameters (left ventricle end-diastolic pressure, ± dP/dt and left ventricular internal dimension) of EAM rats received andrographolide were significantly improved. Andrographolide treatment caused an decrease in the infiltration of CD3+ and CD14+ positive cells in myocardial tissue. Moreover, andrographolide treatment caused a reduction in the plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-17 (IL-17) and myosin-antibody, and an increase in the level of IL-10 in EAM rats. Oral administration of andrographolide resulted in the decreased expression of p-PI3K, p-Akt without any change of PI3K and Akt. Further results indicate andrographolide significantly inhibited myosin-induced proliferation in splenocytes, and this effect was inhibited by co-treatment of SC79 (Akt activator). Our data indicate andrographolide inhibits development of EAM, and this beneficial effect may be due to powerful anti-inflammatory activity and inhibitory effect on PI3K/Akt pathway.

Effect of Laser Power on Tensile Performance of TA15 Laser-Welded Lock Bottom Joint

        Na Qi,Xiaohong Zhan,Shuai Chen,Dan Chen,Shi He 대한금속·재료학회 2021 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.27 No.11

Taking TA15 titanium alloy as the research object, laser welding experiments of are performed on the lock-bottom joints, and the microstructure and tensile performance of the joints are analyzed. The laser welding speed is constant and the laserpower is 1000 w, 1300 kw, 1600 kw respectively. The bottom weld width and the width of high temperature heat-affectedzone (HT-HAZ) increase significantly as laser power increase. The microstructure of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) is relativelycomplicated, mainly composed of secondary α, acicular α structure and β. The microstructure at the weld metal iscomprised of the martensite α′ and acicular α. The tensile strength, fracture morphology and chemical composition of thewelded joint are studied by tensile test, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS)analysis techniques. The results show that all the specimens fractured near the heat-affected zone, and the fracture is a ductilefracture in the shape of a dimple. The tensile strength of welded joint decreases with the increase of laser power. Whenthe laser power is 1.0 kw, 1.3 kw and 1.6 kw, the tensile strength is 723 MPa, 705 MPa and 695 MPa respectively, which is64.55%, 62.95% and 62.05% of the base material strength. EDS results show that Mo and V elements are the strengtheningelements, while the burning loss of Mo and V reduce the strength of the joint.

      • Two Species of Phycitinae (Lepidoptera, Pyralidae) new to Korea

        Mu-Jie Qi,Bayarsaikhan Ulziijargal,Bo-Sun Park,Sol-Moon Na,Jae-Won Kim,Yang-Seop Bae 한국응용곤충학회 2014 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

The subfamily of Phycitinae is one of the largest groups in family Pyralidae, as Solis and Mitter (1992) estimated, about 4000 species in the world. The Phycitinae are characterized by the following characteristics: forewings long and narrow, with 11 veins or less, R3 and R4 stalked at base or fused completely, both male and female with only one frenulum; gnathos usually rod-shaped or coniform; valva usually hairy, with well-developed costa, sacculus well-sclerotized, shorter than valva, transtilla free or connected at top, juxta and vinculum U-shaped; most of male with culcita; ductus bursae usually from corpus bursae. The larvae of phycitinae are leaf rollers, leaf bores and leaf miners, also they are predators and products pests. Their distribution is throughout the world (Munroe and Solis, 1999). Leech and South (1901) first reported 3 species of Phycitini from the Korean Peninsula; after that, several researchers respectively made contributions to the fauna of Korean Phycitinae. Until 2008, Bae et al. recorded 79 species from South Korea. Currently, Qi and Bae (2014) added two more phycitinae species for Korea. In the present study, we identified two more Phycitinae species which are newly recorded from Korea. The morphology of adults and genitalia are redescribed and illustrated, the specimens examined are deposited in Incheon National University, Korea.

      • Redescription of Spilarctia robusta (Leech) in South Korea (Lepidoptera, Erebidae, Arctiinae)

        Bayarsaikhan Ulziijargal,Sol-Moon Na,Mu jie Qi,Yang-Seop Bae 한국응용곤충학회 2014 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

Taxonomic history of Korean Arctiidae was recently revised by Park (2000), comprising a total of 59 species, 31 genera from South Korea. Subsequently, Choi (2004, 2010) added two more arctiine species, and Bae et al. (2013) enumerated 63 species, 31 genera including one unrecorded species, and Lee et al. (2014) reported one more lithosiine species from South Korea. In the present study, we report and confirmone rare species, Spilarctia robusta (Leech, 1899), which has been reported by Nam (1985) from Jeju Is., but it has been omitted from the Check List of Insects from Korea (1994), due to that no specieman has been collected after Nam (1985). We found this species from the collection of the Korea National Arboretum (2012), and redescribed with illustrations of genitalic structure. Therefore 65 species of Arctiinae are known to the fauna of Arctiinae from South Korea.

Ginseng polysaccharides: A potential neuroprotective agent

        Na Wang,Xianlei Wang,Mengjiao He,Wenxiu Zheng,Dongmei Qi,Yongqing Zhang,Chun-chao Han 고려인삼학회 2021 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.45 No.2

The treatments of nervous system diseases (NSDs) have long been difficult issues for researchers because of their complexity of pathogenesis. With the advent of aging society, searching for effective treatments of NSDs has become a hot topic. Ginseng polysaccharides (GP), as the main biologically active substance in ginseng, has various biological properties in immune-regulation, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammation and etc. Considering the association between the effects of GP and the pathogenesis of neurological disorders, many related experiments have been conducted in recent years. In this paper, we reviewed previous studies about the effects and mechanisms of GP on diseases related to nervous system. We found GP play an ameliorative role on NSDs through the regulation of immune system, inflammatory response, oxidative damage and signaling pathway. Structure-activity relationship was also discussed and summarized. In addition, we provided new insights into GP as promising neuroprotective agent for its further development and utilization.
