Design of cyclotron magnet with tenth harmonics for accelerator mass spectrometry
Namgoong Ho,Choi Hyojeong,Ha Donghyup,Ghergherehchi Mitra,Chai J. S.,Lee Jongchul 한국물리학회 2023 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.82 No.2
In this study, we developed a carbon-beam cyclotron for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). A cyclotron magnet for AMS was developed for particle acceleration systems using cyclotrons rather than the tandem accelerator used in conventional accelerator mass spectrometry systems. Design parameters were selected for the development of cyclotrons for AMS, and the magnetic feld design and equilibrium orbit (EO) analysis beam trajectory were analyzed using the Cyclone and CST Microwave Studio. Additionally, by measuring the magnetic feld of the manufactured cyclotron, magnetic feld optimtableization was performed through shimming, and the beam trajectory was verifed based on the measurement results. The cyclotron magnet was designed with a mass resolution of 2890, with harmonic 10 and turn number 92. The minimum turn separation was optimized at 2 mm to reduce the loss caused by the collision of the beam during acceleration. This cyclotron for AMS could accelerate the 12C−, 13C−, and 14C− particles at 40 keV to obtain a beam of 400 keV.
Two Dimensional Transfer Modes in $CH_2$ Spin System
NamGoong Hyun Korean Magnetic Resonance Society 2006 Journal of the Korean Magnetic Resonance Society Vol.10 No.1
Spin-lattice relaxation pathway of $CH_2$ spin system by two dimensional NOESY sequence has been discussed. Two-dimensional spectra governed by dipolar relaxation mechanism were simulated in term of transfer mode, the generalization of conventionally used magnetization mode in one dimension. The transfer matrix directly related to the Redfield relaxation matrix can be constructed by the multiplet of transfer mode. The observable relaxation transfer modes causes to variation of the off-diagonal signal intensity of phase sensitive NOESY spectra from which variable spectral density can be extracted with simple group theoretical calculation. The variation of the J-coupling peak intensity as a function of the mixing time in 2-D spectra for $n-Undecane-5-^{13}C$ and Bromoacetic $2-^{13}C$ acid has been theoretically traced.

In this investigation, 34 structurally different flavonoids including derivatives of chalcone, flavanone, flavan-3-ol, flavone, flavonol, and their glycosides were evaluated for in vitro suppression of mitogen-induced lymphocyte proliferation and mixed lymphocyte culture from mouse spleen. Flavonoids, mainly derivatives of flavone and flavonol, clearly demonstrated the suppressive effects on lymphocyte proliferation at higher than 10^(-6) M depending on the structures of flavonoid molecules, although their suppressive activities were less than that of cyclosporin A or prednisolone. Various glycosidic substitutions to A- and/or C-ring of the flavonoid aglycones were found to eliminate the suppressive activities of their aglycones, regardless of sugar compositions and positions of substitutions. In concanavalin A-induced lymphocyte proliferation, derivatives of flavone and flavonol having 2, 3-unsaturation and at least 1 hydroxyl group showed the suppressive activity. In lipopolysaccharide-induced lymphocyte proliferation, only myricetin was active among flavonoids tested at the concentrations up to 10^(-5) M. In mixed lymphocyte culture, some derivatives of flavone and flavonol with 2, 3-unsaturation were active and especially flavone derivatives showed the higher suppressive activities than those of the flavonol derivatives.

Congenital factor X (FX) deficiency is a rare autosomal-recessive disease that induces bleeding disorder. Herein, we present the 10-year posttransplant course of a pediatric patient who underwent liver transplantation (LT) with portal vein (PV) stenting for correction of severe congenital FX deficiency, with focus on long-term maintenance of coagulation function and patency of PV stenting. A 17-month-old infant with recurrent hemorrhagic episodes due to FX deficiency underwent split LT using a left lateral section graft. The graft-recipient weight ratio was 2.2%. The graft implantation procedures were performed by following the standard pediatric split LT procedure. Nevertheless, a wall stent was inserted due to PV anastomotic stenosis on posttransplant day 1. Graft function recovered slowly because of partial parenchyma infarct, and the patient was discharged at 46 days after LT operation. The FX activity started to increase soon after LT and gradually normalized; the coagulation profiles have been maintained well for the past 10 years. The patient has been doing well for the past 10 years after LT without any episodes of abnormal bleeding. Due to the risk of vascular complications owed to PV stenting, life-long follow-up is mandatory with special attention until attainment of complete physical growth to adolescent and adulthood.
Developing and Establishing a Wound Dressing Team: Experience and Recommendations
Namgoong Sik,Baik Seunghee,Han Seung-Kyu,Son Ji-Won,Kim Jae-Yeon 대한의학회 2023 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.38 No.21
Background: The existing literature has comprehensively examined the benefits of specialized wound-care services and multidisciplinary team care. However, information on the development and integration of wound-dressing teams for patients who do not require specialized wound care is scarce. Therefore, the present study aimed to elucidate the benefits of a wound-dressing team by reporting our experiences with the establishment of a wounddressing team. Methods: The wound-dressing team was established at Korea University Guro Hospital. Between July 2018 and June 2022, 180,872 cases were managed for wounds at the wounddressing team. The data were analyzed to assess the types of wounds and their outcomes. In addition, questionnaires assessing the satisfaction with the service were administered to patients, ward nurses, residents/internists, and team members. Results: Regarding the wound type, 80,297 (45.3%) were catheter-related, while 48,036 (27.1%), 26,056 (14.7%), and 20,739 (11.7%) were pressure ulcers, dirty wounds, and simple wounds, respectively. In the satisfaction survey, the scores of the patient, ward nurse, dressing team nurse, and physician groups were 8.9, 8.1, 8.2, and 9.1, respectively. Additionally, 136 dressing-related complications (0.08%) were reported. Conclusion: The wound dressing team can enhance satisfaction among patients and healthcare providers with low complications. Our findings may provide a potential framework for establishing similar service models.
