Objective: Hyperketonemia remains a major metabolic issue of serious milk production and a major health concern in early lactation cows. Oral supplementation of glucose precursors (GP) can be used to prevent hyperketonemia in dairy cows. The objective of this study was to compare the beneficial effects of orally supplementing a mixture of GP on metabolic health indicators and milk production status of primiparous (PP) and multiparous (MP) dairy cows. Methods: Twenty-eight Holstein cows were blocked by expected date of parturition, previous lactation yield, and parity. The cows were randomly allocated to one of the four treatment groups (n = 7 cows/group) based on their parity and GP supplementation: i) PP cows fed basal diet only (PP-CON), ii) PP cows with oral supplementation of GP (PP-GP), iii) MP cows fed basal diet only (MP-CON), and iv) MP cows with oral supplementation of GP (MP-GP). Glucose precursor (glycoline liquid) was orally drenched (300 mL/d) in GP cows from 7 days prepartum through 7 days postpartum. Other than GP supplementation, all cows were fed similar pre- and postpartum basal diets. Results: In both pre- and postpartum periods, serum glucose concentration was increased, whereas β-hydroxybutyrate and free fatty acids were decreased in GP cows compared with the CON cows. Milk yield and milk components were statistically not different between GP and CON cows over the first 9 week of lactation. The yield of actual milk, energycorrected milk, 63-days cumulative milk, colostrum yield, and calf birth weight remained higher in MP cows compared with PP cows. Conclusion: Oral drenching of GP around calving can be recommended to successfully improve the metabolic health and reduce the negative effects of hyperketonemia not only in MP but also in PP dairy cows.

( Muhammad Zakria ),( Nauman Muzafar ),( Suhail Iftikhar ),( Faisal Tasleem ),( Muhammad Ashraf ) 대한간학회 2017 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2017 No.1
Aims: Common bile duct exploration (CBDE) is one of the available options in the management of choledocholithiasis. Most of the time we come across a single stone in common Bile Duct, rarely multiple stones and very rarely whole of the biliary system is loaded with stones. Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreaticography (ERCP) is a gold standard for the stone retrieval in most of cases. In our case report whole of the common bile duct, common hepatic duct, Right and left hepatic duct were loaded with multiple large size stones. Patient came to the hospital very late her biliary tract was very much thickened. ERCP was failed. So we had left only option of open common bile duct exploration. In case of multiple stones in whole of biliary duct system, open technique is the best option and may be the treatment of choice. Methods: A 37 years old lady came in surgical outdoor with pain right side of abdomen. She was diagnosed as obstructed jaundice due to multiple gall bladder and whole of biliary tract stones. Obstruction was relieved by a stent by gastroenterologist. Unfortunately she visited the surgical outdoor clinic after one year due to various reasons. She underwent choledochotomy and all stones from biliary channels were removed. Because of delayed intervention, wall of the biliary channels were very much thick. Hypertrophic mucosa was very much appreciable. Wound was closed over a T-tube were for 2 weeks. Results: Check cholangiogram was normal. Patient was discharge safely with regular follow up advice. Conclusions: Management of stones in Hepatobiliary system is always a test case for the Hepatobiliary surgeon. It is straightforward if single but very much complex if they are multiple and extremely difficult if they involve entire Hepatobiliary channels. Open technique is best option in these cases right from the beginning.

A disaster prevention and mitigation cycle seem to be generally well-known tool in dealing with disasters as well as their consequences. Furthermore, use of this cycle in urban areas is still into doubt. As a result, this study takes a practical strategy to identify problems within its traditional disaster risk management cycle as well as its stages in the scenario of increasing urban floods throughout Pakistan. Semi-structured queries were used to examine flood risk management organizations. Three focus group talks were also undertaken to have a better understanding of the perspectives of various populations. Under each step, thematic analysis was utilized to classify opinions and responses. The results showed that climate change adaptation has become a critical component of long-term disaster risk reduction.

Diclofenac sodium (DLF) salt loaded polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were successfully prepared by electrospinning. The inclusion of DLF in PAN nanofibers increased the nanofiber diameter from ~200 nm to ~500 nm, proportional to the amount of DLF loaded into it. FTIR spectra confirm the entrapment of the DLF into the PAN nanofibers. X-ray diffraction pattern showed that PAN nanofibers had caused the misalignment in the polymeric chains of the PAN, thus resulting in a decrease of the peak intensity at 2θ = 17°. The DLF loaded PAN nanofibers were efficient against the gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and gram-negative Escherichia coli. DLF loaded PAN nanofiber showed good cell viability ~95% for L929 cells in more extended incubation periods. The release profile indicates that the DLF release from the PAN nanofibers was slow and is beneficial as PAN nanofiber will retain the bioactive agent throughout their useful life. Cell adhesion micrographs show that cell-cell interaction is stronger than the cell-material interaction. This type of weak cell interaction with the wound dressing is particularly advantageous, as this will not disturb the wound surface during the nursing of the wound.
In-plane magnetic anisotropy in strontium iridate Sr2IrO4
Nauman, Muhammad,Hong, Yunjeong,Hussain, Tayyaba,Seo, M. S.,Park, S. Y.,Lee, N.,Choi, Y. J.,Kang, Woun,Jo, Younjung American Physical Society 2017 Physical review. B Vol.96 No.15

Magnetic anisotropy in strontium iridate (Sr2IrO4) is found to be large because of the strong spin-orbit interactions. In our work, we studied the in-plane magnetic anisotropy of Sr2IrO4 and traced the anisotropic exchange interactions between the isospins in the crystal. The magnetic-field-dependent torque t (H) showed a prominent transition from the canted antiferromagnetic state to the weak ferromagnetic (WFM) state. A comprehensive analysis was conducted to examine the isotropic and anisotropic regimes and probe the easy magnetization axis along the ab plane. The angle-dependent torque tau(theta) revealed a deviation from the sinusoidal behavior, and small differences in hysteresis were observed around 0 degrees and 90 degrees in the low-magnetic-field regime. This indicates that the orientation of the easy axis of the FM component is along the b axis, where the antiferromagnetic toWFMspin-flop transition occurs. We compared the coefficients of the magnetic susceptibility tensors and captured the anisotropy of the material. The in-plane tau(theta) revealed a tendency toward isotropic behavior for fields with values above the field value of the WFM transition.

This trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of overwrap, vacuum, and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on poultry breast fillets' microbiological, biochemical shelf life and sensory attributes. The fillets were divided into 4 groups, and each of the treatments was replicated 3 times with 60 breast fillets. The first group was a control group with overwrap packaging; the second group was vacuum packed (VP); the third and fourth groups were MAP-1: 0% O2, 40% CO2, 60% N2, and MAP-2: 20% O2, 40% CO2, 40% N2. The microbiological and biochemical analyses were performed for the total viable count, coliform count, Pseudomonas count, Salmonella count, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N), pH, cooking loss, color, lipid oxidation, tenderness, and sensory analysis. The data were analysed through two-way ANOVA by Minitab (Minitab 17.3.1). Meat treated with understudy MAP compositions and vacuum packaging reduced total viable count, Pseudomonas count, and total coliform count than control (p<0.05). TVB-N remained below the recommended limit throughout storage except aerobic packaging (p<0.05). Cooking loss (%) was lowered and showed non-significant results (p>0.05) between vacuum packaging and both MAP concentrations. The meat stored in MAP-2 was characterised by higher (p<0.05) visual scores. Whilst MAP-1 showed higher (p<0.05) L* values and overall acceptability. Sample packaged under aerobic packaging showed significant (p<0.05) results for b* and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). Meat stored in aerobic packaging showed higher (p<0.05) shear force values. The outcome of this trial may help to promote the application of understudy MAP compositions and rapid detection of microbes by biochemical analysis under local conditions.
