We developed an evolutional wideband (3 to 26㎒) short-wave transmitter with an output of 1㎾ using PSM (Pulse Step Modulation) that digital (DRM: Digital Radio Mondiale) and analog AM modulation are possible. This equipment employs digital processed PSM method that high sound quality can be easily achieved in the modulation section and Class-E amplification for obtaining higher efficiency in the PA section composed of eight 125W PA. In addition, new output circuit for phase compensation of the load impedance. As a result, in the 125W PA, a drain efficiency of 95% at 3.925㎒ and 86% at 25.885㎒ was obtained. As analog AM characteristics, S/N of 54㏈ and above, distortion factor of 4% and under were obtained ranging from 3M to 26㎒. In digital modulation (DRM), S/N of about 24.5㏈ (at 25.885㎒ at 16QAM) that satisfies target performance sufficiently was obtained.

To investigate the difference in the disinfectant efficiency of ozone microbubbles (O3MB) and ozone millibubbles (O3MMB), the morphological change of the treated Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was observed with scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM and TEM). The disinfectant efficiency of O3MB on F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was greater than that of O3MMB. On observation with SEM, it was revealed that morphological change of F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores was caused by O3MB and O3MMB, and damage to the spore surfaces by O3MB occurred sooner than that by O3MMB. On observation with TEM, it was furthermore confirmed that F. oxysporum f. sp. melonis spores treated with O3MB induced wavy deformation of cell membrane and the intracellular change different from that with O3MMB. Therefore, the greater disinfection efficiency of O3MB was suggested to be caused due to the function of the MB in addition to the oxidative power of O3.
Self-Alignment and Bonding of Microparts Using Adhesive Droplets

This paper describes the self-alignment and bonding of microparts using adhesive surface tension to assemble microsystems in air. The alignment and bonding were tested experimentally using adhesive droplets, and the resulting performance was evaluated. The adhesive, which was inorganic and water-soluble before hardening, was diluted with water to a ratio of 10:1 so that its surface tension generated a sufficient restoring force for self-alignment. The experimental results showed that the average of the alignment errors obtained using the adhesive on $1.0\times1.0\times0.15-mm$ microparts was less than $2{\mu}m$ in the X and Y directions and 0.2 degrees in the e direction. These alignment errors were almost the same as those obtained using water. The use of a suitable adhesive had no negative effects on the alignment accuracy. The average tensile strength of the adhesive bond after self-alignment was $0.61N/mm^2$.

Rotaxanes comprise a class of interlocked moleculescontaining a wheel threaded onto an axle with blockinggroups on the ends to keep thewheel fromsliding off.Here,weshow that [2][bis(2-(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbonyloxy)ethyl)ammoniumtrifluoromethanesulfonate]-[dibenzo-24-crown-8]rotaxane (TRO-A0001), a rotaxane compound, exerted agrowth inhibitory effect on several human cancer cell lines.AnMTT assay revealed an IC50 of 14-830 nMfor TRO-A0001 inthese cells. Neither the wheel nor the axle part alone inhibitedtumor cell growth, suggesting that the complete rotaxanemolecule with its unique ‘‘intramolecular mobility’’ is requiredto inhibit cell growth. Annexin-V/PI staining provided evidenceof the induction of apoptosis, which was further confirmedby the observation of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerasecleavage. Furthermore, a cell cycle analysis using flowcytometry showed that TRO-A0001 treatment resulted in G1arrest in glioblastoma T98G and melanoma G361 cells. Animmunoblot analysis revealed that in both cell lines, TROA0001treatment caused the induction of p21/Cip1, therebydown-regulating Cdks 2, 4 and 6 and reducing Cyclins D1 andE. The results presented in this study demonstrate cytotoxicityof the rotaxane compound and its potential as a lead compoundfor the development of a chemotherapeutic agent againstcancer.
