Hepatic lipase 유전자 promoter의 G-250A 다형성과 대사증후군간의 관련성

Background and Objectives: The -250G to A polymorphism of the hepatic lipase gene (LIPC) has been associated with lowered hepatic lipase activity, dyslipidemia, and diabetes. The aims of this study were to elucidate the relationship of the G-250A polymorphism of LIPC with metabolic syndrome in Koreans. Methods: A total of 943 health screen examinees were enrolled in this study who were examined in Kosin University Gospel Hospital from December 2004 to February 2006. The height, weight, body mass index, body fat mass, visceral fat mass, waist circumference, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the subjects were examined and fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride were measured by sampling in venous blood. The metabolic syndrome was defined as the presence of three or more of the following : waist circumference men≥90 cm, women≥80 cm, blood pressure≥130/85 mmHg, fasting glucose≥110 mg/dL, HDL cholesterol men<40 mg/dL, women<50 mg/dL, triglyceride≥150 mg/dL. The blood pressure, fasting glucose, HDL cholesterol, triglyceride were evaluated by using the criteria of NECP ATP Ⅲ and waist circumference was assessed by using the criteria of WHO Asia-Western Pacific. The genotype at position -250 of the hepatic lipase promoter was determined by single base extension and electrophoresis. Results: The observed frequencies of the -250G to A polymorphism of LIPC were 49.8% for the metabolic syndrome, 51.4% for the control group and 50.9% in total subjects. The frequency of the A allele was 36% in total subjects. Concentration of triglyceride was significantly higher in subjects with GA and AA genotypes in women.. Conclusion: The -250A allele frequency was 36% in Koreans and the -250G to A polymorphism of LIPC seems to significantly influence to plasma triglyceride levels in women.
Influencing Factors on the Satisfaction of Communication with the Elderly in Nurses

Aim(s): This study was performed to utilize for foundation data of research related nursing communication and developing nursing intervention by examining the relationship between nurses" perception of the elderly and communication. Method(s): This study is a descriptive research using a set of questionnaires that examines the relationship between nurses who provide care to the elderly by confirming their perception of the elderly, communication difficulties with the elderly, communication behavior, and satisfaction with communication. After IRB approval, data were collected either face-to-face survey or by online survey. A total of 292 nurses participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed as descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson"s Correlation Coefficients, Multiple Regression Analysis by using SPSS/WIN 26 program. Result(s): As a result, a significant correlation was identified between perception of the elderly and communication disorders, communication behavior, and communication satisfaction. We found that nurses who had more positive perceptions about the elderly had less communication disorders, better communication behaviors, and higher communication satisfaction with the elderly. The variables affecting the nurse"s communication satisfaction with the elderly were the perception of the elderly and the communication behavior with the elderly. Conclusion(s): From this result, we suggest that nurses caring for the elderly should receive education on communication methods with elderly to improve their perception. Furthermore, we suggest future studies to improve nurse"s perception of the elderly and communication.

<P>To use a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous generator to wind power generation systems, the wind turbine characteristics according to wind speed should be considered in the design stage and performance evaluation. Using the wind turbine characteristics provided by a manufacturer, we predict the performance of a wind power generator that uses an axial flux PM by analyzing the electromagnetic field characteristics. To avoid the long analysis time required by the three-dimensional finite element method because of the structural features of axial flux PM machines, an alternative analytical approach is presented, and its results are validated experimentally. In addition, we present an AC-DC-DC converter that is connected to the experimental setup for back-to-back tests in order to obtain constant output regardless of wind speed variations.</P>
Bogie Fault Detections by Way of Condition-Based Monitoring of a Railway Vehicle

In the modern railway industry, huge amount of money is invested for the maintenance of the railway system on yearly basis, in which failures or faults in components and systems have always been a major problem. An effective, efficient and reliable maintenance is required to ensure the efficiency, reliability and safety for the railway vehicles and give a high-quality service to the passengers. This paper presents bogie fault detection by way of the condition monitoring of the bogie in a railway vehicle, which addresses the logics for the model-based condition monitoring of suspension system using an extended Kalman filter. The presented logic has been demonstrated by simulation studies.

톳은 여러 생리활성이 알려져 있는 해조류로 본 연구에서는 톳의 활용 가능성을 확장시키기 위하여 유산균의 종류를 달리하여 발효한 톳을 시료로 하고 추출물 단계에서 항염증 효과를 비교하였다. 유산균인 Weissella sp. SH-1과 Lactobacillus casei를 접종하여 발효시킨 톳 추출물은 무접종군에 비하여 높은 NO 억제 활성을 나타내었으며, 유산균 간의 비교에서는 Weissella sp. SH-1 접종군보다 L. casei 접종군에서 NO 생성 억제 효과가 높게 나타났다. 중요 염증 유발인자인 iNOS, COX-2 및 IL-6의 발현을 비교한 결과 Weissella sp. SH-1 접종군에 의한 iNOS 억제능이 높았으며 COX-2, IL-6 발현은 L. casei 접종군에 의해 효과적으로 억제되었다. 유산균에 의한 염증 유발인자 억제능에 대한 MAPK 신호 전달 경로를 알아본 결과 ERK, p38, JNK의 인산화에 의해 항염증 활성이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 결과로부터 유산균 Weissella sp. SH-1과 L. casei를 이용한 발효는 염증 억제에 효과가 있는 유효성분의 추출을 증진시킬 수 있음을 간접적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 유산균 Weissella sp. SH-1과 L. casei를 이용한 발효방법을 활용하여 기능성 식품소재 및 제품 개발에 응용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. The anti-inflammatory effect of ethanol extracts from Hizikia fusiformis fermented with and without lactic acid bacteria was compared in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 mouse macrophages. The fermentation was done using Weissella sp. SH-1 and Lactobacillus casei in a mixture of glucose and lactate source at 30°C for 30 days. As a result, we confirmed that the fermentation of H. fusiformis with lactic acid bacteria inhibited LPS-stimulated nitric oxide (NO) production and the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase (COX)-2, interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor α, and IL-1β as important inflammatory factors. During a comparison analysis, we found that L. casei fermented groups significantly suppressed NO production by regulating iNOS and COX-2 expression. Also, the effective suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokine and LPS-induced activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase indicated that the fermentation using Weissella sp. SH-1 and L. casei may provide an increment towards the extraction of active components, which are effective anti-inflammatory agents.

The overall incidence of malignancy in a renal transplanted patient is 3 to 5 times higher compared with general population. We report a very rare case of multiple leiomyoma originated from lung after renal transplantation. 33-year-old male underwent renal transplantation in November, 1989. A 5 mm sized pulmonary nodule was found in the left lower lobe incidentally in March, 2001. The size of pulmonary nodule increased and same lesion was found on the opposite side of the lung on chest roentgenogram after one year, so we proceeded with computed tomography of the chest. Variable sized multiple nodules in the whole lung field were noted, which were thought be metastatic lesions, and for detection of the primary site of malignancy, further study including esophagogastroduodenoscope, colon study, abdominal ultrasound, abdominal CT, bone scan and tumor marker were checked, but there was no evidence of primary cancer. After open lung biopsy low malignant potential smooth muscle tumor was noted, and Epstein-barr virus (EBV) DNA was detected. The patient had been maintained on immunosuppressive therapy with cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), and after the diagnosis of leiomyoma administration of MMF was stoped, and cyclosporine dosage was reduced. With the reduction of immunosuppressants, intravenous immunoglobulin trial was done for the first cycle, but the efficacy of treatment is not clear. (Korean J Nephrol 2003;22(6):767-772)
