      • Robust Self-presentation: When and How Do People Present Themselves on Social Networking Sites (SNSs)?

        User of social networking sites (SNSs) often encounter boundary complexity, as users interact with multitude of people of different social groups with diverse interests and perspectives in one common space. User actions (e.g. postings, dialogs, pictures, other online materials) on SNSs are, by nature, shared with a broad audience, even contacts who have incompatible views with the focal user. To act effectively, credibly, and reliably interact with their contacts, users craft their own ways in presenting themselves on SNSs. To explore the behavioral responses to boundary complexity on SNSs, we incorporate the theory on self-presentation and robust action and argue that individuals were able to better achieve a desired presentation of the self through structural reformation of the platform or rhetorical formulation through the platform. We conduct 30 in-depth interviews from those who have used a specific platform (i.e. Instagram). With the interviews, we first specify the bases of boundary complexities into Audience, Interest, and Attention and given this, we classify two processes of boundary management: authentic self-presentation and robust self-presentation. While users of SNSs respond to boundary complexities in various ways to make their self-presentation effective, the methods are based on the ongoing interactions with the platform. SNSs provide particular functions to the users to reconcile issues of boundary complexity. This suggests that the authentic self-presentation is performatively devised through interacting with their platform as well as their contacts.

        본 론문에서는 텍스트언어학리론을 토대로 하여 조선어텍스트의 주제전개방식을 고찰하였다. 우선 현재 조선어연구에서 중심을 이루고있는 문장언어학의 한계점을 살펴본 뒤 그 한계점을 미봉하기 위한 텍스트언어학적연구의 필요성 및 텍스트언어학적연구의 방법론적특성을 제기하였다. 텍스트리론의 정보구조적견지에서 보면 조선어텍스트의 주제전개방식은 주로 복사식전개, 파생식전개, 집중식전개, 교체식전개 및 사슬식전개 동 다섯가지 방식으로 나누어진다.

      • Exploring Ways to Cope with Multivocality Encountered in Social Media

        본 연구에서는 소셜미디어 플랫폼에서 다성성(multivocality)이 개입되는 현상을 포착하고, 실제 어떻게 소셜미디어의 유저들은 플랫폼상에서 다중인격성을 인지하고 이를 해결하려고 하는지 탐구하고자 한다. 특히 소셜미디어에서는 ‘포스팅’이라는 행위로 자신을 드러내는데, 본질적으로 소셜미디어에서는 이러한 포스팅을 바라보는 대상의 범위가 제한되어 있지 않아서 관계의 복잡성이 발생하게 되고, 자신의 의견을 제시하거나 주장을 함에 있어서 청중의 반응을 기대함에 있어서 모호성이 나타나게 된다. 소셜미디어 상에서 사람들은 이러한 관계의 복잡성을 해소하고 보다 강건한 방식으로 자신을 드러내는 방안을 모색하게 된다. 본 연구는 어빙 고프만의 자신 드러내기(self-presentation)에 대한 이론과 강건행위(robust action)의 개념을 통합하여 강간한 자신 드러내기 과정이 소셜미디어에서 어떻게 일어나고 있는지 고찰하고자 한다. 본 연구는 소셜미디어 플랫폼인 인스타그램을 사용하는 20-30 대 30 명을 심층인터뷰하고, 이들이 인지하고 있는 소셜미디어의 상황, 그리고 이 상황을 다루는 방식을 강건한 자신드러내기 과정으로 구체화하고자 한다. 연구의 결과는 인스타그램 유저들은 관계의 복잡성을 타개하기 위해서 스스로 다중인격성을 갖추고자 하였고, 이는 플랫폼 내에서 제공하고 있는 다양한 기능들을 활용함으로써 보다 강건하게 자신을 드러내고 있었다. 구체적으로 ‘강건한 자신드러내기’는 ‘편집(curation)’과 ‘분리(separation)’의 행동 패턴으로 나타나고 있었고, 특히 소셜미디어 플랫폼은 유저들이 자신드러내기를 보다 강건하게 할 수 있도록 다양한 기능들을 지속적으로 개발하고 있었다. This study pays attention to the situations where people in social media often encounter multivocality. Multivocality occurs when one interacts with diverse people with diverse interests and perspectives at a common space. In social media, by nature, user actions (e.g. postings, dialogs, pictures, other online materials) are widely shared with even the contacts who have incompatible views with the user’s. This requires users to deal with such multivocal situations. To act effectively in social media to credibly and reliably interact with their contacts, users craft their own ways in presenting their self in social media. To explore the behavioral responses to multivocality in social media, we incorporate the theory on self-presentation and robust action and argue that self-presentation in social media attempt to balance between robustness and flexibility. Robustness is achieved through disconnecting their contacts while flexibility enables users to incorporate all the perspectives from their contacts. To specify our argument, we conduct 30 in-depth interviews from those who have used a particular social medium (i.e. Instagram). With the interviews, we first specify the bases of multivocality into Audience, Interest, and Attention and given this, we classify two types of robust self-presentation in social media, i.e. Curation, and Separation. While users in social media respond to multivocality in various ways to make their self-presentation effective, the methods are based on the ongoing interactions with the social media themselves. Social media provide particular functions to the users to reconcile the multivocality issues. This suggests that the robust self-presentation is performatively devised through interacting with their social media as well as their contacts.

      • Alternative In Vitro Approach for Assessing AHR-Mediated CYP1A Induction by Dioxins in Wild Cormorant (<i>Phalacrocorax carbo</i>) Population

        <P>Our line of papers revealed that the common (great) cormorant (<I>Phalacrocorax carbo</I>) possesses two isoforms of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (<I>cc</I>AHR1 and <I>cc</I>AHR2). This paper addresses in vitro tests of the <I>cc</I>AHR signaling pathways to solve two questions: (1) whether there are functional differences in the two <I>cc</I>AHR isoforms, and (2) whether a molecular perturbation, cytochrome P450 1A (<I>cc</I>CYP1A) induction, in the population-level can be predicted from the in vitro tests. The transactivation potencies mediated by <I>cc</I>AHR1 and <I>cc</I>AHR2 were measured in COS-7 cells treated with 15 selected dioxins and related compounds (DRCs), where <I>cc</I>AHR1 or <I>cc</I>AHR2 expression plasmid and <I>cc</I>CYP1A5 promoter/enhancer-linked luciferase reporter plasmid were transfected. For congeners that exhibited dose-dependent luciferase activities, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-<I>p</I>-dioxin (TCDD) relative potencies (REPs) and induction equivalency factors (IEFs) were estimated. <I>cc</I>AHR1-IEF profile was similar to WHO avian TCDD toxic equivalency factor (TEF) profile except for dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls that showed lower IEFs in <I>cc</I>AHR1-driven reporter assay. <I>cc</I>AHR2-IEF profile was different from WHO TEFs and <I>cc</I>AHR1-IEFs. Notably, 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF was more potent than TCDD for <I>cc</I>AHR2-mediated response. Using <I>cc</I>AHR1- and <I>cc</I>AHR2-IEFs and hepatic DRC concentrations in the Lake Biwa cormorant population, total TCDD induction equivalents (IEQs) were calculated for each <I>cc</I>AHR-mediated response. Nonlinear regression analyses provided significant sigmoidal relationships of <I>cc</I>AHR1- and <I>cc</I>AHR2-derived IEQs with hepatic <I>cc</I>CYP1A5 mRNA levels, supporting the results of in vitro <I>cc</I>AHR-mediated TCDD dose–response curves.         섬유제품 수출입 수요의 예측에 관한 연구

        This study concerns the export-import demands for Korean textile, textile products and clothing products. The result from the practice of study is as follows; it predicts the constant increase as a result of prediction in the nation's total amount of export-import including the export-import amount of textile, textile-product, and clothing product. It is estimated that nation's textile trade balance will be about U$13 billion of trade surplus in every year from 2000 to 2003. Other hand, the trade balance of textile product is predicted about U$1.39 billion surplus, so is clothing product about U$3.29 billion surplus. Textile ratio is presumed to gradually decrease in aspect of export. Also, the portion of textile export in our national total export is predicted to reduce to 11.61% in the 2003. On the other hand, Textile import ratio will be constantly increased and the portion of textile import in out national total import is prtdected to reach to 3.92% in 2003. Textile-product ratio is also estimated to increase in the area of export & import, consequently, textile-product ratio in textile will be increased to 40.88% & 33.12% in 2003. Clothing product ratio is also estimated to increase annually. What with increasing ratio of clothing-product export in textile-product export reaching to total 0.87% within for 4 years(62.96% in 2000, 63.83% in 2003) and what with increasing ratio of clothing-product import in textile-product import reaching to total 6.42%(83.89% in 2000, 90.31% in 2003), it can be said that increase of its import will be much higher than that of export.

        액란과 생란의 난황으로 제조한 블루베리 쿠키의 품질특성과 항산화능 비교

        We evaluated the quality characteristics and antioxidative activities of cookies containing different types of egg yolk (LEY, Liquid Egg Yolk; FEY, Fresh Egg Yolk) and percentages of blueberry powder (5, 10, and 15%). As the amount of blueberry powder increased, the levels of antioxidants based on ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities increased in general. Within the 15% group, contents of polyphenols and flavonoids were higher in the FEY group, whereas content of anthocyanins was higher in the LEY group. Measurement of ABTS radical scavenging activity showed that the FEY group had a higher value within the 10% group, whereas the LEY group scored higher within the 15% group. Comparison of sensory properties showed no significant difference between the two egg yolk types. If commercialized, manufacturing cookies with FEY or LEY will not make a significant difference. Regardless, 15% blueberry powder would be the most appropriate, as it scored the highest in terms of antioxidant activity and sensory characteristics.

        In vitro transactivation potencies of black-footed albatross (Phoebastria nigripes) AHR1 and AHR2 by dioxins to predict CYP1A expression in the wild population.

        <P>Our previous studies have detected high levels of dioxins and related compounds (DRCs) including polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), furans (PCDFs), and coplanar PCBs (Co-PCBs) in the black-footed albatross (BFA), Phoebastria nigripes, from the North Pacific region. We have also cloned two aryl hydrocarbon receptors, AHR1 and AHR2, of the BFA. To evaluate the sensitivity to DRCs in the BFA and to assess the status of cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A) induction in the wild population, this study investigated the mRNA expression levels of BFA AHR1 and AHR2 and also the transactivation potencies of each AHR by 15 selected DRC congeners. Quantitative real-time PCR of BFA AHR mRNAs showed that hepatic AHR1 is more highly expressed than AHR2. Transactivation by graded concentrations of individual DRCs was measured in COS-7 cells, where BFA AHR1 or AHR2 was transiently transfected. For congeners that exhibited AHR-mediated dose-dependent activities, 50% effective concentration (EC(50)) and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) relative potencies (REPs) were estimated. Based on the estimates of the REPs, TCDD induction equivalency factors (IEFs) were determined. For BFA AHR1, PeCDF was equipotent to TCDD, but other congeners exhibited lower IEFs. For BFA AHR2, PCDD/F congeners except OCDD/F showed IEFs 1.0. Using BFA AHR1- or AHR2-IEFs and hepatic concentrations of DRCs in North Pacific BFAs, TCDD induction equivalents (IEQs) were calculated. We further constructed nonlinear regression models on the relationships between BFA AHR1- or AHR2-IEF derived total IEQ or WHO-TEF derived total TEQ and ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase activity (EROD) in the liver of wild BFAs. The results indicated that the relationships of BFA AHR1- and AHR2-based IEQs and EROD were predictable from BFA AHR1- and AHR2-mediated transactivation by TCDD, respectively. Collectively, these results suggest that the in vitro assay incorporating the AHR of species of concern would be a useful tool to predict the sensitivity to DRCs in the species and CYP1A induction in the wild population.</P>

        50·60대 여성의 라이프스타일에 따른 의복구매행동에 관한 연구 : 의복평가기준과 구매장소를 중심으로

        The purposes of this study were to analyze the lifestyle of women in their 50's and 60's to provide the basis for the efficient strategy of silver market by classifying women in their 50's and 60's according to lifestyle types and investigating the effect of consumers' lifestyle and demographic characteristics on consumers' clothing evaluation criteria and buying place. In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to women in their 50's and 60's. 226 questionnaires of 350 were used in the following analysis. The data were analyzed with the SPSS package. The results of this study were as follows. First, lifestyle were analyzed to find out the underlying factors. and then the subjects were grouped according to factor scores by the cluster analysis. Four lifestyle types were defined. They were the traditional family-oriented, the ostentatious purchase, the economical material-oriented, the active economics-oriented type. Second, a consumer's clothing evaluation criteria were classified according to three characteristics - aesthetic, practical and ostentatious. A consumer's clothing evaluation criteria were significantly different depending on the consumer's lifestyle and demographic characteristics. All lifestyle types except ostentatious purchase type considered practical characteristic like easiness of washing/care, harmony with other clothing, quality and price. The higher education, income and clothing expense, the more a customer considered ostentatious characteristic like fashionability and reputation of brand in selection of clothing.

        청국장이 난소적출 마우스의 면역 기능에 미치는 영향

        It has been reported that Chungkukjang, one of Korean traditional fermented soybean products, may improve hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. In this study, we sought to investigate the immunoenhancing effects of Chungkukjang in ovariectomized mice. For the first period, female SLC ddy mice were either sham-operated (Sham; n=27) or ovariectomized (OVX; n=27). As a basal diet, ovariectomized mice were fed low-calcium diet for faster induction of osteoporosis for six weeks, and those in the Sham group were fed AIN-76 diet. For the second period, half of the OVX group (n=9) and the Sham group (n=9) were fed a Chungkukjang-based diet (CKJ); whereas the other half (OVX; n=9/ Sham; n=9) were fed a casein-based diet (CSI) for 8 weeks. After a second period, we collected the blood via heart puncture and measured the splenocytes proliferation, T lymphocyte subsets by flowcytometry, and levels of serum cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ and TNF-α) by ELISA assay. The OVX+CKJ group showed higher splenocytes proliferation, higher ratio of CD4/CD8, and lower levels of IL-6 and TNF-α cytokines compared to the OVX+CSI group. The Sham+CKJ group showed cytokine productions, such as higher levels of IL-10 and IFN-γ, and lower levels of IL-6 and TNF-α compared to the Sham+CSI group. The result of this study suggests that Chungkukjang may lower the proinflammatory cytokine levels in both the OVX and Sham groups. In addition, Chungkukjang could make a balance of T cell subset proliferations and enhance the splenocyte proliferations in the OVX group.
