This paper describes the development of a system which monitors photovoltaic (PV) power generation in real-time using LabVIEW. The system is designed to continuously acquire both electrical parameters and atmospheric weather data for analysis of PV power generation. This system allows users to continuously check the output of generated solar power, store parameter data and view weather conditions in a friendly manner.
Distributed Control of the Arago’s Disc System with Gain Scheduler

Arago's disk system consists of a speed controller of the DC motor (inner loop controller) and a position controller of the magnetic bar angle (main controller), which are implemented by the design of the PI and PID controller, respectively. First, we analyzed the nonlinear characteristics of the Arago disk system and found the operating point range of three locations as a result. In this paper, a gain scheduler method was applied to guarantee a constant control performance in the range of 0 ~ 130 °, and a structure to change the controller according to the control reference value based on the previously obtained operating points was experimentally implemented. The Distributed Control Systems (DCS) configuration using the Controller Area Network (CAN) was used to verify the proposed method by improving the operational efficiency of the entire experimental system. So, simplicity of the circuit and easy diagnosis were achieved through a single CAN bus communication.

A new, sensitive, and reliable flow injection methodology was investigated for the determination of lead ion (II) in vegetables’ samples using a laboratory-prepared reagent 2-[(6-methoxy-2-benzothiazoly)azo]- 4-methoxy phenol (6-MBTAMP). Infrared spectroscopy, UV-visible spectrophotometry, Energy dispersive Xray spectroscopy (EDX), Elemental Analysis (CHN), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy 1HNMR, and 13CNMR techniques were used to characterize the reagent and lead (II) complex. The method is based on lead ion (II) reacting with the reagent (6-MBTAMP) in a neutral solution to produce a green-red complex with a maximum absorbance at 670 nm. The optimum conditions, such as flow rate, lead ion (II) volume, reagent volume, medium pH, reagent concentration, and reaction coil length were thoroughly examined. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were determined to be 0.621 mg·L−1 and 2.069 mg·L−1, respectively, while Sandell's sensitivity was determined to be 0.345 μg·cm−2.

Five species of pteromalid wasps (Cheiropachus quadrum [Fabricius, 1787], Macromesus harithus Narendran, 2001, Metacolus sinicus Yang, 1996, M. parasinicus sp. nov., and Roptrocerus mirus [Walker, 1834]) reared from branch cuttings of Pinus wallichiana A. B. Jackson (Pinaceae) infested with three species of bark beetles (Ips stebbingi Strohmeyer, 1908, Polygraphus major Stebbing, 1902, and Pityogenes scitus Blandford, 1893) are reported from Kashmir, India. A new species of Metacolus from Kashmir is described and illustrated. A key for the identification of the six known species of Metacolus Förster, 1856 is given. Roptrocerus mirus and M. sinicus are reported for the first time from the Indian subcontinent. New host–parasite associations are reported for three species of pteromalid wasps.

Since the effects of cinnamon supplementation on lipid profiles are still controversial, this study conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials to assess the effect of cinnamon supplementation on lipid profiles. The study was designed and conducted according to the guidelines of the 2020 preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) statements. A systematic and comprehensive search was performed in several databases from inception up to 11 November 2023. The meta-analysis on the impact of Cinnamon on lipid profiles indicates a non-significant overall effect on low-density lipoprotein (weighted mean differences [WMD], −2.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], −9.70, 4.72). However, significant reductions are seen with doses < 500 mg/day (−10.26), and non-significant increases with doses ≥ 500 mg/day (1.18). The overall effect on highdensity lipoprotein is non-significant (WMD, 3.97; 95% CI, −7.877, 15.831), showing varying responses at different doses. Triglycerides exhibit a significant overall reduction (WMD, −6.88; 95% CI, −12.62, −1.15), particularly in the < 500 mg/day group. The overall effect on cholesterol is non-significant (WMD, −4.314; 95% CI, −15.011, 6.384), with diverse responses at different doses. High heterogeneity underlines the importance of standardized study designs and further exploration of dosage-specific effects. Findings from this study suggest that cinnamon supplements might be beneficial to modulate the blood lipid profile.

In this paper, we study some fixed point properties of n-generalized Bregman nonspreading mappings in reflexive Banach space. We introduce a hybrid iterative scheme for finding a common solution for a countable family of equilibrium problems and fixed point problems in reflexive Banach space. Further, we give some applications and numerical example to show the importance and demonstrate the performance of our algorithm. The results in this paper extend and generalize many related results in the literature.

Vitamin D participates in the biological function of the innate and adaptive immune system and inflammation. We aim to specify the effectiveness of the vitamin D supplementation on the side effects BioNTech, Pfizer vaccination, and immunoglobulin G response against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in subjects tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this multi-center randomized clinical trial, 498 people tested positive for COVID-19 were divided into 2 groups, receiving vitamin D capsules or a placebo (1 capsule daily, each containing 600 IU of vitamin D) over 14–16 weeks. Anthropometric indices and biochemical parameters were measured before and after the second dose of vaccination. Fourteen to 16 weeks after supplementation, the intervention group had an immunoglobulin G (IgG) increase of 10.89 ± 1.2 g/L, while the control group had 8.89 ± 1.3 g/L, and the difference was significant between both groups (p = 0.001). After the second dose of vaccination, the supplement group significantly increased their 25-hydroxy vitamin D from initially 28.73 ± 15.6 ng/mL and increased to 46.48 ± 27.2 ng/mL, and the difference between them was significant. Those with a higher body mass index (BMI) had the most of symptoms, and the difference of side effects according to BMI level was significantly different. In 8 weeks after supplementation obese participants had the lowest IgG levels than overweight or normal subjects. The proportion of all types of side effects on the second dose was significantly diminished compared with the first dose in the intervention group. Supplementation of 600 IU of vitamin D3 can reduce post-vaccination side effects and increase IgG levels in participants who received BioNTech, Pfizer vaccine.

The bark beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) are widely recognized as one of the most damaging groups of forest pests. The present article documents the insect predators associated with bark beetles infesting blue pine, Pinus wallichiana A. B. Jacks (Pinaceae), in Kashmir Himalaya. Three species of bark beetles, such as Ips stebbingi Strohmeyer, 1908, Polygraphus major Stebbing, 1903, and Pityogenes scitus Blandford, 1893, are here reported as preyed upon by the following four species of predatory beetles: Thanasimus himalayensis Stebbing, 1914 (Cleridae), Niponius canalicollis Lewis, 1901 (Histeridae), Platysoma rimarium Erichson, 1834 (Histeridae), and Corticeus flavipennis Motschulsky, 1859 (Tenebrionidae). Brief diagnoses with photographs of all the pests and their predators have been provided. P. rimarium is also redescribed. A significant number of predators observed in the galleries of bark beetles and on the infested host material support that predators play a major role in the regulation of bark beetle populations and, therefore, has great relevance to ecological pest management strategies in the forests.
Iraq since 2003: Reflections on 20 Years of Political Change

Twenty years ago, U.S. forces invaded Iraq in March 2003, under claims that Saddam Hussain owned weapons of mass destruction. The fall of the Baath regime had been a distant hope for many in Iraq, who believed the regime would survive for many more years. The invasion produced winners and losers, and Iraq was unprepared for what would unfold in the following years. This paper investigates the aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, considering how and why U.S. forces changed Iraq's political fabric and the whole region. The article explores the different factions within Iraq and their attitude toward the U.S. occupation. It mainly compares how events played out differently in the north and southern regions of the country, arguing that the different outcomes resulted from Iraq's previous political culture, including past systems of government, grievances, a politics of mistrust, and a suppressed identity crisis.
