Readout electronics for the scintillation bar tracking detector (SciBar) in the K2K neutrino oscillation experiment has been developed. SciBar has 14 336 scintillator bars in total. The deposited energy and timing of particles from neutrino interactions in the scintillator bars are measured by 64-channel multianode photo-multiplier tubes (MAPMTs). Compact custom-designed electronics to record the MAPMT signals were developed, consisting of front-end circuit boards attached to each MAPMT and back-end electronics modules sitting in a VME crate. The front-end circuit board multiplexes pulse-height information from all 64 anodes and generates a fast triggering signal. Two sets of ASICs (IDEAS VA32HDR11 and TA32CG) are employed for these functions. The bias voltages and relay of control signals are also handled on the board. The back-end electronics module controls the front-end board by providing the control, timing, and low-voltage signals. The board also digitizes the multiplexed signal from the front-end. The electronics achieves low noise of less than 0.3 photo-electrons and good linearity up to 300 (150) photo-electrons for MAPMTs at the gain of 5×10<SUP>5</SUP> (10<SUP>6</SUP>).

<P>We report a measurement of time-dependent CP violation parameters in B-0 -> K-S(0)eta gamma decays. The study is based on a data sample, containing 772 x 10(6)B(B)over-bar pairs, that was collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We obtain the CP violation parameters of S = -1.32 +/- 0.77(stat) +/- 0.36(syst) and A = -0.48 +/- 0.41(stat) f 0.07(syst) for the invariant mass of the K-S(0)eta system up to 2.1 GeV/c(2).</P>

In this paper,vector control of per-aanent-magnet ac servo motor with surface-mounted maagnets is discussed. A current conrol system is the Host important element for a high-performance adjustable-speed control system. It is important to consider how fast current control-both magnitude and phase-can be achieved. One of the current control systems that are used now is control method with average value. The equations of propotional-integral control circuit are converted to those of the synchronously rotating frame, to adapt the fundamental equ. of a permanent-magnet ac servo motor. A method of exact numerical analysis by the state variable method is proposed. Norminal induced emf(e0) is compensated for a change for the worse of the current control that is problem in high speed operation. The experimental results of the nominal induced emf compensation are confirmed, and the experimental results are compared with those of analysis. Moreover, compensation of internal emf(ea) is analyzed, and the results of the analysis are compared with those of analysis that a case of only nominal induced emf compensation.<br/>

It is necessary for lower grade students to study the correct usage of tools as a base of the technical education for dismantling and assembling various machines. However, enough understanding has not been obtained though the usage ofthese tools when training first grade students. So, we started to develop a teaching text and materials within the students'practice curriculum based on the dismantling and assembly of all-terrain vehicle [ATV]'s, which is a very motivating forlower grade students. This practice makes the student learn both how to use the tools and the steering mechanism of carsthrough the dismantling and assembling of the ATV. It ispossible to not only have the student learn about the knowledgeobtained through the practice, but also they also acquire wider and deeper knowledge through making the text and teachingmaterials for the practice. The textbook and secondary educational materials of this practice curriculum were created in cooperation with a fifth grade student as part of their graduation research. As a result, an effective teaching and learningtext and secondary educational material regarding manufacturing practice could be developed from the student's point ofview. Making a teaching text and materials is effective for promoting the study and experience of engineering
Particle Capture Reaction using Extended Core Plus Valence Nucleon Model

We investigate the ^(17)O(n,γ)^(18)O capture reaction cross section at the astrophysical energy using a microscopic ^(16)O+n+n model. The data of this reaction cross section for the s-process nucleosynthesis becomes important. The ^(17)O(n,γ)^(18)O reaction cross section is not measured by the experiment, because the natural abundance of <sup>17</sup>O is the 0.038%. We consider that it is necessary to estimate the ^(17)O(n,γ)^(18)O reaction cross section by a theoretical approach. In this paper, we apply the available wave function obtained by the microscopic ^(16)O+n+n model to the estimation of the ^(17)O(n,γ)^(18)O reaction cross section.
PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC ANISOTROPY OF Au/(Fe-Co) METALLIC MULTILAYER44S

First-principles calcualtions of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy have been performed and it is predicted that the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy of a Au(Fe-Co)(111) multilayer will be larger than that of a Au/Co multilayer. Then we have actually synthesized the Au/(Fe-Co) multilayers by MBE method and found that theses multilayers show the predicted properites. The surface magnetic anisotropy energy is $0.64mj/m^2$, which is larger than the value reported previously for the Au/Co multilayer by 10%. Ther result indicated the possibility to control the magnetic anisortopy by changing the number of valence electrons.
