        This paper presented surge protective method and devices for shipboard electrical and electronics devices. Parallel type surge protective devices (SPD) for the 440 [V] and a series type SPD for the 220 [V] rated voltage were designed and fabricated. The performance were evaluated by an un-powered test which applies the 8/20 [㎲] surge current Lip to 10 [㎄]. The maximum clamping voltage of the parallel and the series type SPD were 1,032 [V] and 875 [V], respectively.

        Jageum-Jung, the herbal pharmaceuticals, inhibits the hepatic fibrogenesis as mediated with TGF-β1/smad signaling

        Background Herbal prescriptions have various effects and their efficacy is potentiated by the use of combinations of medicinal herbs. Objective Jageum-Jung (JGJ) is a traditional oriental medical prescription composed of five herbs. It has been used for detoxifi cation, and as an anti-inflammatory and antitumor agent. However, the effect of JGJ on hepatic fibrogenesis is unclear. Results We investigated the role of JGJ in TGF-β1/smad signaling, which is implicated in fibrogenesis, and its hepatoprotective effect in CCl 4 -treated mice with liver fi brosis. Treatment of LX-2 cells with TGF-β induced expression of mediators (α-SMA, PAI-1, and MMP-2) of fibrogenesis and activation of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6). However, these were downregulated by pretreatment with JGJ. In mice, oral administration of JGJ prevented liver injury induced by CCl 4 , as indicated by decreases in the ALT and AST levels. Conclusions JGJ inhibits hepatic fibrogenesis and TGF-β1/Smad signaling.

        Binocular Visual Function in Patients with Normal Tension Glaucoma

        목적 : 본 연구는 정상 안압 녹내장(NTG) 환자에서 양안시 기능을 평가하고자 한다. 방법 : 대상자 총 64명 중 안과에 내원하여 전문의에게 정상 안압 녹내장 진단을 받은 환자 정상 안압 녹내장 41명과 정상안 26명을 대상으로 하였다. 시야검사, 안압검사, 망막신경섬유층 두께 측정을 시행하였으며, 양안 시 기능 평가를 위해 사위각, 폭주근점검사, 티티무스와 TNO 입체시 검사를 시행하였다. 검사결과는 SPSS 22.0을 이용하여 분석하였으며 양안시 스크리닝과 입체시 기능을 분석하기 위해 ROC 곡선을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과 : 정상안압 녹내장군에서 망막신경섬유층 두께와 남아있는 시야가 감소하였다. 원근거리 폭주여력은 정상 안압 녹내장군에서 정상군보다 높게 나타났다. 티티무스 입체시는 정상안압 녹내장군에서 102.36±4.40"이며 정상군에서는 44.61±1.85"으로 나타났으며, TNO 입체시는 정상안압 녹내장군에서 231.97±30.96"이며 정상군에서는 89.42±12.02"으로 나타났다. ROC 곡선은 티티무스와 TNO 입체시 검사에서 각각 0.797과 0.807로 나타 났고, 민감도와 특이도는 티티무스 입체시 검사에서 각각 0.737, 0.731, TNO 입체시 검사에서는 각각 0.500, 0.115로 나타났다. 결론 : 티티무스 입체시검사는 정상 안압 녹내장 선별에 유용할 것으로 사료된다. Purpose : This study aims to describe the binocular visual function alterations in patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG). Methods : Of the patients who went to the ophthalmologist and were diagnosed, a total of 67 subjects of which 41 were classified as NTG, 26 non-glaucoma patients (control group) were participated. Standard visual field test, intra ocular pressure (IOP) measurement and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) obsevation were performed. Also examined with binocular tests consisting of the measurement of phoria angles, near point of convergence (NPC), stereo acuity according to Titmus and TNO stereo tests. All measurements among groups were statistically compared with the SPSS 22.0 and ROC curves were plotted to describe the screening ability of binocular and stereopsis values. Results : NTG subjects showed decreased RNFL and visual field index. In far and near vision, NTG subjects were worse compared to in the control group except for fusional reserve. In Titmus test, NTG subjects exhibited stereo acuity of 102.36±14.40" whereas control group exhibited 44.61±1.85". In TNO test showed 231.97±30.96" for the NTG and 89.42±12.02" for the control group. The area under ROC for Titmus and TNO stereo test were 0.797 and 0.807. The sensitivity, specificity of Titmus stereo test were 0.737 and 0.731, and those of TNO stereo test were 0.500 and 0.115. Conclusion : Titmus stereo acuity could be used as the gold standard for screening tools for NTG.

        The Change of Accommodative Functions by Difference Density and Color

        목적: 본 연구에서는 착색렌즈 농도와 색상에 따라 눈의 조절기능에 변화가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 연구대상자는 폭주값이 정상, 안위이상과 색각이상, 안질환이 없으며, 안과관련 수술 경험이 없는 20대 남녀 대학생 31명을 대상으로 무착색렌즈와 50%, 80%로 농도로 착색된 gray, blue, brown렌즈를 착용하고 조절기능을 측정하였다. 조절기능검사는 조절력, 조절효율, 양성·음성 상대조절검사 및 조절래그검사를 시행하였다. 결과: 본 연구 대상자들은 착색렌즈를 착용 하였을 때 조절력과 조절래그가증가하였으며, 음성상대조절력은 무착색렌즈 착용 시 보다 착색렌즈 착용하였을 때 양안, 단안, 좌안에서 증가하였다. 양성상대조절력은 blue 50%착용 시 크게 나타났다. 또한, 착색렌즈를 착용 하였을 때 조절용이성은 증가하였으나, 착색렌즈의 농도가 증가함에 따라 조절용이성은 감소하였다. 결론: 착색렌즈의 농도에 따라 조절기능의 변화가 나타나므로 착색렌즈 농도 및 색상 선택 시 작업거리, 착색렌즈 착용 환경 등을 고려하여 선택해야 할 것으로 사료된다. Purpose : This study was to investigate the change of accommodative functions by different color density and color of colored lenses. Methods : Participant had a normal NPC and no dyschromatopsia, phoria and eye disease, also had no histories of eye surgery in 31 students of university. Their accommodative functions were measured according to 50%, 80% density of the gray, blue, brown lens and non-colored lenses. Tests of accommodative functions performed include amplitude of accommodation, accommodative facility, relative accommodation, and accommodative lag. Results : The amplitude of accommodation and accommodation lag were increased when wearing the colored lens. Negative relative accommodation was more increased when wearing the colored lens than achromatic. Positive relative accommodation increased when wearing the blue color lens density by 50%. Also, accommodation facility increased when wearing the colored lens, but, as the density of the color increased, the accommodation facility was decreased. Conclusion : As since the accommodation function changes according to density of the colored lenses, working distance and environment of the wearing colored lens should be considered when selecting density and color of colored lenses.

        Orange phosphorescent Ir(III) complexes consisting of substituted 2-phenylbenzothiazole for solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Orange phosphorescent iridium(III) complexes, (DMBT)<SUB>2</SUB>Ir(acac) and (TBT)<SUB>2</SUB>Ir(acac), based on either 2-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)benzo[<I>d</I>]thiazole (DMBT) or 2-(4-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl)benzo[<I>d</I>]thiazole (TBT) as the cyclometalated main ligands and acetylacetone (acac) as an ancillary ligand, were synthesized for solution-processed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The Ir(III) complex, (BT)<SUB>2</SUB>Ir(acac), which consists of 2-phenylbenzo[<I>d</I>]thiazole (BT) as the main ligand and acac as the ancillary ligand, was also synthesized as a reference. The photophysical, electrochemical, and electroluminescent properties of these Ir(III) complexes were investigated. The OLED fabricated using (TBT)<SUB>2</SUB>Ir(acac) exhibited significantly improved luminance and external quantum efficiency (EQE) as self-quenching at high doping concentrations was successfully prevented by introducing bulky trimethylsilyl groups. The EL spectrum of (TBT)<SUB>2</SUB>Ir(acac) exhibited an emission maximum at 578 nm with a full-width-at-half-maximum of 74 nm and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinates of (0.55, 0.44) at 1000 cd/m<SUP>2</SUP>.         2019 Consensus Korean Diagnostic Guidelines to Define Severity Classification and Treatment Refractoriness for Atopic Dermatitis: Objective and Subjective Assessment of Severity

        Background: Systemic immunomodulatory treatment is actively recommended in the treatment for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD) patients. However, consensus criteria for the classification of AD severity or treatment refractoriness have not been established yet. Objective: To establish consensus criteria on the definition of severity classification and treatment refractoriness of AD to provide a basis for proper treatment strategy. Methods: The Korean Atopic Dermatitis Association (KADA) comprised a task force team to establish a definition of moderate to severe AD. A draft of definition of moderate to severe AD was made on the basis of evidence. The recommendation was confirmed by KADA members through a web-based survey. Results: KADA approved that AD with 16≤eczema area and severity index (EASI)<23 should be basically defined as moderate AD whereas AD with EASI score ≥23 should be considered as severe AD. They agreed that it would be reasonable to raise the severity level if patient’s daytime or nighttime pruritus numerical rating scale is equal to or higher than 7 (≥7) or dermatology life quality index score exceeds 10. AD patients who do not reach EASI 50 after appropriate treatment for three months should be considered as a non-responder. Patients with recurrence (EASI ≥16) within three months after cessation of treatment should be considered as a recurrent AD. Conclusion: KADA built a consensus of definition of moderate and severe AD and treatment-refractoriness. These guidelines are expected to help physicians determine proper treatment options in need.         Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of the methanolic extracts of $Potentilla$ $chinensis$

        $Potentilla$ $chinensis$ has been widely used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of many diseases. In macrophages, nitric oxide (NO) released as an inflammatory mediator and has been proposed an important modulator of many pathophysiological conditions. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of methanol extracts of $P.$ $chinensis$ (PCM) on NO production in mouse (C57BL/6) peritoneal macrophages. PCM suppressed IFN-${\gamma}$ and LPS-induced NO production independent of iNOS expression. Interestingly, iNOS enzyme activity was reduced by PCM treatment. On the contrary to iNOS, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression was attenuated by PCM significantly. PCM also demonstrated potent radical scavenging activity and reducing power. The present results indicate that PCM's inhibitory action on the NO production is not due to attenuation of iNOS expression but direct scavenging of NO radical. These results suggest that PCM may be beneficial in diseases which related to oxidative stress-mediated inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis.

        Quality of Life and VFQ-25 in Elderly People over 65 and Adults under 65

        목적 : 본 연구는 65세 미만 성인과 65세 이상 노인에서 삶의 질과 시각기능(VFQ-25)을 파악하기 위한 연구이다. 방법 : 복지관 방문자 79명을 대상으로 한국판 삶의 질 설문지와 시각기능 설문(NEI-VFQ-25)을 사용하여 연 령에 따른 시각기능과 삶의 질에 대한 독립표본 T-검증과 상관분석을 실시하였다. 결과 : 성인의 전체 삶의 질 점수는 3.33±0.65점이며, 노인의 전체 삶의 질 점수가3.59±0.73점으로 높게 나 타났다. 성인의 전체 시각기능의 점수는 67.56±14.46점이며, 노인의 전체 시각기능의 점수는 72.63±15.48로 노인이 성인보다 높게 나타났다. 연령과 삶의 질 간의 사회적 요인에서 유의한 차이를 보였으며 연령과 시각기능 에서는 시력과 관련된 역할의 제한에서만 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 두 요인에서 모두 노인이 성인보다 높게 나타 났다. 성인의 시각적 기능과 개인의 삶의 질의 관계는 높은 것으로 나타난 반면 노인의 시각적 기능과 개인의 삶 의 질은 관계성은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 결론 : 시각기능과 삶의 질은 연령과 긍정적인 관계가 있는 것을 확인하였다. 이는 개인의 긍정적 삶의 질을 함 양하기 위해서는 단순 개인의 특성만을 강조하는 것보다는 문화 환경적 요소와 주기적인 시각기능 검사가 고려되 어야 할 필요성이 있다. Purpose : This study is designed to identify the quality of life and visual functions (VFQ-25) in adults under and over 65. Methods : Independent sample T-test and correlation analysis of visual function and quality of life according to age were conducted with the Korean version of the quality of life questionnaire and visual function questionnaire (NEI-VFQ-25) for 79 visitors to the welfare center. Results : The overall quality of life score of adults was 3.33±0.65 and the overall quality of life score of the elderly was 3.59±0.73. The adult's overall visual function score is 67.56±14.46, and the elderly's total visual function score was 72.63±15.48, indicating that the elderly are higher than adults in the overall visual function score. There were significant differences in social factors between age and quality of life, and only significant differences in age and visual functions were found in limited roles related to vision. Both factors showed that the elderly were higher than adults. The relationship between the visual function of adults and the quality of individual life was shown high, while the visual function of the elderly and the quality of individual life were low in relationship. Conclusion : It was identified that visual function and quality of life had a positive relationship with age. In order to foster an individual's positive quality of life, it is necessary to consider cultural and environmental factors and periodic visual function tests rather than simply emphasizing individual characteristics.
