Acinetobacter baumannii is a gram-negative organism reported worldwide as a cause of health-care associated infections. Due to its increasing drug resistance, several studies on coproduction of armA and carbapenemase in South Korea and other parts of the world were reported, which can pose significant therapeutic threat. The aim of this study was to investigate genetic characteristics of multidrug-resistant A. baumannii coproducing armA and carbapenemase and its epidemiological relatedness. Forty-five multidrug resistant (MDR) A. baumannii clinical isolates were collected. Antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by agar dilution, Etest and VITEK 2 system. The presence of 16S rRNA methylase and carbapenemase were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing. Repetitive element palindromic (REP)-PCR was also performed for epidemiologic investigation. All of A. baumannii isolates harbored $bla_{OXA-51}$-like gene and 10 isolates showed an upstream ISAba1. 36 isolates (80%) showed amplification of OXA-23, all of which except one had an upstream ISAba1. 16S rRNA methylase armA was found in 44 isolates with high level resistance to aminoglycosides. The rate of coproduction was found in 36 isolates (80%). All isolates showed dominant two patterns in REP-PCR profile. The prevalence of MDR A. baumannii coproducing OXA-23 and armA was high, which the rate of $bla_{OXA-23}$ coproduction was also high.

In the 2018 and 2019 glucose analysis by point-of-care testing, an external quality assessment was performed in two sessions. Quality control (QC) materials available on the market were used in these programs, and three levels of concentration were used during each session. Based on the data and results of the test items reported by each institution, statistical analyses were conducted by the manufacturers and with a test analyzer. From the analysis results, each institution was provided with an overall report and an institution-tailored report. The average response rate was 98.8%. After the number of instruments that could be registered by an institution increased to 30 in 2017, the number of participating institutions spiked to 3,808 during the second round in 2019. The coefficients of variation (CVs) differed among the manufacturers and among different instruments from the same manufacturer, and such differences were comparatively greater than the CV of glucose of the routine chemistry program. Due to the fact that the commutability of the QC materials used for this program is not secured between different instruments as well as between test strips with different lot numbers within the same instrument, it is deemed necessary to obtain lot numbers when inputting institution results.

인공지능의 급속한 발전에 따라 학생들 역시 인공지능에 관한 소양과 역량을 갖추어야 하는 것이 시대적인 과제가 되었다. 이에 따라 전세계적으로 초·중등 교육에서의 인공지능 교육 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 새롭게 등장한 인공지능의 개념과 내용이 초중등 학생의 수준에 맞게 해석되지 않았고, 인공지능 교육에 관한 체계적인 교육과정이나 내용체계도 아직 정립되어 있지 않아 교육현장에서는 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 상태이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 의사결정트리, 이미지 인식, 강화 학습, 규칙 기반 전문가 시스템, 튜링 테스트, 그리고 비지도 학습이라는 인공지능의 여섯 가지의 개념을 주제로 국내·외의 AI 언플러그드 내용을 비교·분석하고 개선 방향을 제시함으로써 학생들이 인공지능의 개념과 원리를 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 효과적인 인공지능 교육 방안을 모색하고자 한다.
Status of Pre-analytical Quality Management of Laboratory Tests at Primary Clinics in Korea

Background: The quality of laboratory test results is crucial for accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment. Pre-analytical errors account for approximately 60%–70% of all laboratory test errors. Laboratory test results may be largely impacted by pre-analytical phase management. However, primary care clinics currently do not have pre-analytical quality management audit systems. We aimed to understand the current status of pre-analytical quality management in laboratory medicine in Korean primary care clinics. Methods: Questionnaires were designed to focus on essential components of the pre-analytical process of primary care clinics. An online survey platform was used to administer the survey to internal medicine or family medicine physicians in primary care clinics. Results: A total of 141 physicians provided a complete response to the questionnaire. In 65.2% of the clinics, patient information was hand-labeled rather than barcoded on the specimen bottles; 14.2% of clinics displayed only one piece of patient information (name or identification number), and 19.9% of clinics displayed two pieces of information. Centrifuges were not available in 29.1% of the clinics. Institutions carrying out the National Health Screening Program (NHSP) used more barcode system and had more centrifuges than institutions that did not carrying out the NHSP. Conclusions: Pre-analytical quality management is inadequate in many primary clinics. We suggest implementation of a mandatory management system, allowing for a pre-analytical quality management to be carried out in primary care clinics.
