Reliability of Quadruplicated Serological Parameters in the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study

        양재정,양지현,Jimin Kim,Lisa Y. Cho,박보영,Seung-Hyun Ma,송상훈,Won-Ki Min,Sung Soo Kim,Man Suck Park,박수경 한국역학회 2011 Epidemiology and Health Vol.33 No.-

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether clinical test values from different laboratories in the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) can be integrated through a statistical adjustment algorithm with appropriate intra- and inter-laboratory reliability. METHODS: External quality control data were obtained from the Korean Society for Laboratory Medicine and quadruplicated standardized serological samples (N=3,200) were manufactured in order to check the intra- and inter-laboratory reliability for aspartic acid transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GTP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, uric acid (UA), fasting blood sugar (FBS), cholesterol, and triglyceride (TG). As an index of inter- and intra-rater reliability, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, intraclass correlation coefficients and kappa statistics were estimated. In addition, to detect the potential for data integration, we constructed statistical compensation models using linear regression analysis with residual analysis, and presented the R-square values. RESULTS: All correlation coefficient values indicated good intra- and inter-laboratory reliability, which ranged from 0.842 to 1.000. Kappa coefficients were greater than 0.75 (0.75-1.00). All of the regression models based on the trial results had strong R-square values and zero sums of residuals. These results were consistent in the regression models using external quality control data. CONCLUSION: The two laboratories in the KoGES have good intra- and inter-laboratory reliability for ten chemical test values, and data can be integrated through algorithmic statistical adjustment using regression equations.

      • Surface chemical structure and doping characteristics of boron-doped Si nanowires fabricated by plasma doping

        Oh, Seung-Hoon,Ma, Jin-Won,Bae, Jung Min,Kang, Yu-seon,Ahn, Jae-Pyung,Kang, Hang-Kyu,Chae, Jimin,Suh, Dongchan,Song, Woobin,Kim, Sunjung,Cho, Mann-Ho Elsevier 2017 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.419 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We investigated the conduction characteristics of plasma-doped Si nanowires (NWs) after various rapid thermal annealing (RTA) times. The plasma doping (PD) process developed a highly-deposited B layer at the NW surface. RTA process controls electrical conductivity by mediating the dopant diffusion from the surface layer. The surface chemical and substitutional states of the B plasma-doped Si NWs were analyzed by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy. To elucidate the detailed structure of the NWs, we analyzed the change in the optical phonon mode caused by the incorporated B atoms. For this purpose, we examined Fano resonance by the investigation of the asymmetry, line-width, and phonon wavenumber in Raman spectra. The changes in symmetry level of the Raman peak, phonon lifetime, and internal strain were closely related to the number of electrically activated borons, which was drastically increased with RTA time. The change in electrical and optical characterizations related to the doping characteristics of the NWs was investigated using a 4-point probe and terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz–TDS). The resistivity of the NWs was 3000 times lower after the annealing process compared to that before the annealing process, which is well consistent with the optical conductivity data. The data provide the potential utility of PD in conformal doping for three-dimensional nanodevices.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Dopant activations of plasma-doped (PD-) Si NWs are investigated with RTA time. </LI> <LI> Chemical states and Fano factor of PD-Si NWs are changed with the dopant activation. </LI> <LI> Both electrical and optical conductivity of PD-Si NWs increase greatly and coherently. </LI> <LI> Carrier generation by PD process is more effective at 1D Si NW than 2D Si substrate. </LI> </UL> </P>

A New Type of CPPM Machine with Stator Axial Magnetic Ring

        Xie, Kun,Li, Xinhua,Ma, Jimin,Wu, Xiaojiang,Yi, Hong,Hu, Gangyi The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2018 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.13 No.3

This paper proposes a new type of consequent-pole permanent-magnet (CPPM) machine with stator axial magnetic ring that increases torque capability over a wide speed range and enhances efficiency for the built-in rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine used in new energy vehicles. The excitation winding of the CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine in the stator is replaced by ferrite magnetic ring to simplify the structure and manufacturing process of the machine. The basic structure and magnetic regulation principle of the proposed machine are introduced and compared with the traditional interior rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine and CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine. Finally, experimental results of a new type of CPPM synchronous motor prototype with axial magnetic ring are introduced in the paper.

125I Seed Permanent Implantation as a Palliative Treatment for Stage III and IV Hypopharyngeal Carcinoma

        Lei Li,Jie Yang,Xiaojiang Li,Xiaoli Wang,Yanxin Ren,Jimin Fei,Yan Xi,Ruimei Sun,Jing Ma 대한이비인후과학회 2016 Clinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology Vol.9 No.3

Objectives. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and safety of percutaneous 125I seed permanent implantation for advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma from toxicity, tumor response, and short-term outcome. Methods. 125I seeds implant procedures were performed under computed tomography for 34 patients with advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma. We observed the local control rate, overall survival, and acute or late toxicity rate. Results. In the 34 patients (stage III, n=6; stage IV, n=28), the sites of origin were pyriform sinus (n=29) and postcricoid area (n=5). All patients also received one to four cycles of chemotherapy after seed implantation. The post-plan showed that the actuarial D90 of 125I seeds ranged from 90 to 158 Gy (median, 127 Gy). The mean follow-up was 12.3 months (range, 3.4 to 43.2 months). The local control was 2.1–31.0 months with a median of 17.7 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 13.4 to 22.0 months). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year local controls were 65.3%, 28.6%, and 9.5% respectively. Twelve patients (35%) died of local recurrence, fourteen patients (41%) died of distant metastases, and three patients (9%) died of recurrence and metastases at the same time. Five patients (15%) still survived to follow-up. At the time of analysis, the median survival time was 12.5 months (95% CI, 9.5 to 15.4 months). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year overall survival rates were 55.2%, 20.3%, and 10.9%, respectively. Five patients (15%) experienced grade 3 toxic events and nine patients (26%) have experienced grade 2 toxic events. Conclusion. This review shows relatively low toxicity for interstitial 125I seed implantation in the patients with advanced stage hypopharyngeal cancer. The high local control results suggest that 125I seed brachytherapy implant as a salvage or palliative treatment for advanced hypopharyngeal carcinoma merit further investigation.

A Concise Design for Irradiating U-10Zr Metallic Fuel at Very Low Burnup

        Haibing Guo,Wei Zhou,Yong Sun,Dazhi Qian,Jimin Ma,Jun Leng,Heyong Huo,Shaohua Wang 한국원자력학회 2017 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.49 No.4

In order to investigate the swelling behavior and fuelecladding interaction mechanism ofUe10Zr alloy metallic fuel at very low burnup, an irradiation experiment was conciselydesigned and conducted on the China Mianyang Research Reactor. Two types of irradiationsamples were designed for studying free swelling without restraint and the fuelecladdinginteraction mechanism. A new bonding material, namely, pure aluminum powder, wasused to fill the gap between the fuel slug and sample shell for reducing thermal resistanceand allowing the expansion of the fuel slug. In this paper, the concise irradiation rig designis introduced, and the neutronic and thermalehydraulic analyses, which were carried outmainly using MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particle) and FLUENT codes, are presented. Out-of-piletests were conducted prior to irradiation to verify the manufacturing quality and hydraulicperformance of the rig. Nondestructive postirradiation examinations using cold neutronradiography technology were conducted to check fuel cladding integrity and swellingbehavior. The results of the preliminary examinations confirmed the safety and effectivenessof the design.

      • Influence of Branched Alkyl Ester-Labeled Side Chains on Specific Chain Arrangement and Charge-Transport Properties of Diketopyrrolopyrrole-Based Conjugated Polymers

        Kim, Hyung Jong,Pei, Mingyuan,Ko, Joong Se,Ma, Min Hee,Park, Gi Eun,Baek, Jimin,Yang, Hoichang,Cho, Min Ju,Choi, Dong Hoon American Chemical Society 2018 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.10 No.47

<P>A series of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based copolymers, with DPP and bithiophene (BT) as the electron-acceptor and donor backbone units, respectively, are synthesized with branched alkyl side chains that are either directly coupled to the <I>N</I>-positions of DPP or separated by an alkyl ester group. The ester moieties in the side chains induce specific cohesive molecular interactions between these side chains, as compared to the alkyl-only side chains with weak van der Waals interactions. Structure analysis of the DPPBT-based copolymers demonstrated that the introduction of a proper alkyl ester spacer to the branched alkyl chains can shorten the π-π stacking distance between the DPPBT backbones down to 3.61 Å and promote the development of two-dimensionally extended domains. DPPBT-based copolymers, including different branched alkyl ester-labeled side chains, are spun-cast on polymer-treated SiO2 dielectrics from dilute chloroform solutions for organic thin-film transistors. A DPPBT-based copolymer with properly engineered side chains (i.e., 2-decyltetradecyl ester-labeled side chains) shows the highest hole mobility of 2.30 cm2 V-1 s-1 and an on/off current ratio of above 106.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
