Simple sequence repeat marker development from Codonopsis lanceolata and genetic relation analysis

        Kim, Serim,Jeong, Ji Hee,Chung, Hee,Kim, Ji Hyeon,Gil, Jinsu,Yoo, Jemin,Um, Yurry,Kim, Ok Tae,Kim, Tae Dong,Kim, Yong-Yul,Lee, Dong Hoon,Kim, Ho Bang,Lee, Yi The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2016 식물생명공학회지 Vol.43 No.2

In this study, we developed 15 novel polymorphic simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers by SSR-enriched genomic library construction from Codonopsis lanceolata. We obtained a total of 226 non-redundant contig sequences from the assembly process and designed primer sets. These markers were applied to 53 accessions representing the cultivated C. lanceolata in South Korea. Fifteen markers were sufficiently polymorphic, and were used to analyze the genetic relationships between the cultivated C. lanceolata. One hundred three alleles of the 15 SSR markers ranged from 3 to 19 alleles at each locus, with an average of 6.87. By cluster analysis, we detected clear genetic differences in most of the accessions, with genetic distance varying from 0.73 to 0.93. Phylogenic analysis indicated that the accessions that were collected from the same area were distributed evenly in the phylogenetic tree. These results indicate that there is no correlative genetic relationship between geographic areas. These markers will be useful in differentiating C. lanceolata genetic resources and in selecting suitable lines for a systemic breeding program.

Vol.73 No.6

The purpose of this study was to identify the kinematic sequence of the “grand jete en tournant motion”, which refers to working on the ballet dancers`` body motions. Nineteen skilled female collegiate and high school ballet dancers performed the grand jete en tournant (1st arms position with left leg derrire-plie-chasse-jumping-arabesque pose; five successful trials for each participants). For the kinematic sequence, the graph lines showed a start inclination (increase acceleration) and declination (decrease acceleration) pattern of proximal and distal segments. The pelvis showed a peak angular velocity value during the grand jete en tournant motion.

      • Efficacy and safety of oral tranilast for keloid scar: A single-center, retrospective observational study

( Jemin Kim ),( Tunyaporn Jongudomsombat ),( Young In Lee ),( Jihee Kim ),( Ju Hee Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2020 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.72 No.1

Background: Tranilast, N-(3′,4′-dimethoxycinnamoyl) anthranilic acid (N-5′), which was initially identified as an anti-allergic agent, is also known to have anti-fibrotic potential by inhibiting the proliferation of fibroblasts and collagen deposition. Previous clinical studies on the efficacy and safety of systemic treatment of tranilast on fibrotic skin diseases, such as keloid or hypertrophic scar, are limited. Objectives: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of oral tranilast in treatment of keloid scars Methods: We performed a retrospective observational study of patients with keloids who had been prescribed oral tranilast for more than 3 months. Scar improvement and patient satisfaction were assessed using the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) score and the 5-point patient self-assessment score. Any side effects including abnormality in routine lab tests during the treatment period were noted. Results: Of the 42 patients, 27 (64.3%) were female. The mean duration of prescription was 115 days. Significant improvement of total VSS (9.50 vs. 5.62, p<0.001) was noted, along with the subjective improvement of patient-reported symptoms. There was no specific drug-related side effect, and the laboratory tests revealed no significant change. Conclusion: Our study showed that oral tranilast is and effective and well-tolerated treatment for keloid scar. Optimization of treatment with other therapeutic modalities is necessary to develop a more standardized treatment protocol.

Treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Associated Facial Lipoatrophy With Hyaluronic Acid Filler Mixed With Micronized Cross-Linked Acellular Dermal Matrix

        Jemin Kim,송승용,Sang Gyu Lee,Sooyeon Choi,Young In Lee,최준용,이주희 대한의학회 2022 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.37 No.5

Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated facial lipoatrophy (FLA) is a stigmatizing side effect associated with the use of highly active antiretroviral therapy. We sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the hyaluronic acid filler mixed with micronized cross-linked acellular dermal matrix (HA/MADM) in HIV-associated FLA. Methods: We conducted an open-label safety and efficacy study in patients with HIVassociated FLA. Fourteen patients received single injection of the HA/MADM, and 13 patients completed the 24-week follow-up evaluation. Treatment efficacy, safety, and patient and physician satisfaction were evaluated. Repeated measure analysis of variance with post-hoc analysis with the Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed to compare and incorporate parameters at each time point. Results: All 13 patients maintained a significant improvement of the Carruthers Lipoatrophy Severity Scale grade throughout the study period, along with improvement of the depressed volume due to lipoatrophy measured using a three-dimensional camera system. More than 80% of patients and physicians were satisfied with the treatment, and no treatment-related adverse events were reported, except for one case of transient subcutaneous nodule formation. Conclusion: Our study findings suggest that injectable HA/MADM is a potentially effective and safe treatment option for treating HIV-positive patients with FLA.

      • Taint Analysis Scheme using Concolic Execution to Find XSS Flaws in Legacy Java Web Applications

        Jemin Kim,Joonseok Park 한국차세대컴퓨팅학회 2022 한국차세대컴퓨팅학회 학술대회 Vol.2022 No.10

Cross-site scripting(XSS) is one of the major threats in web services. Many legacy web applications, which are prevalent in industry, are vulnerable to XSS. This paper proposes dynamic taint analysis scheme by using concolic execution to prevent XSS. Our proposed scheme has no false alarm, at the same time, minimizes required dynamic taint analysis time to cover all execution path. In this manner we can find the exact input data set, which causes the XSS threat. We defined instrumentation scheme for taint analysis and concolic executions. The instrumentation phase for the Java servlet code is automated. The experimental results on test set of SecuriBench Micro, demonstrated the validity of proposed scheme. It detects 90.63% of XSS threats while showing 0% of false positive.

Treatment of Linear Morphea (en Coup de Sabre) with Micronized Acellular Dermal Matrix Filler: A Case Report

( Jemin Kim ),( Jihee Kim ),( Young In Lee ),( Ju Hee Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2021 Annals of Dermatology Vol.33 No.4

En coup de sabre variant of linear morphea (LM) is a rare sclerotic skin disorder characterized by disfiguring linear depression of the frontal or frontoparietal forehead. Current attempts for cosmetic correction of atrophic lesions must be preceded by an evaluation of disease activity of LM, either by a sufficient clinical assessment or histologic evidence. Corrective procedures including corrective surgery, autologous fat grafting, hyaluronic acid filler injections were performed with varying degrees of success; still, there is a need for treatment options with non-invasive and long-term maintenance effects. Herein we report the use of micronized acellular dermal matrix filler as a novel and successful treatment for the atrophic defect of LM in a 24-year-old female. Molecular characteristics of the micronized acellular dermal matrix filler give enhanced durability and prolonged volume consistency, which results in a long-term extracellular matrix remodeling effect. • Multifocal aplasia cutis congenita

        ( Jemin Kim ),( Jihee Kim ),( Sang Ho Oh ) 대한피부과학회 2018 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.70 No.1

Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is an uncommon congenital skin disorder which described as focal, localized absence or defects of the skin in neonates. Clinical presentation of ACC is heterogenous, but most cases of ACC are known to solitary lesion involving scalp. We report a rare presentation of ACC with multifocal, symmetric, discrete lesions on whole body. A male infant born in the 39th week of gestation was referred for multiple skin lesions right after delivery. There were multiple, symmetric, round, well demarcated, coin sized full thickness of skin defects on whole body including scalp and both extremities. no blisters or vesicle like lesions were observed and did not involve mucosa or dystrophic nails. Further investigations in search of possible anomalies showed normal results. Since there were no newly formed lesions in first few days and the lesions showed signs of spontaneous healing, we started conservative treatment with occlusive dressing. At 1 month of age, most of the lesions were healed with cicatrization. During the observation period there was no sign of infection or aggravation of the lesions and lesions remained intact up to 9 months. There have scarcely been reported that ACCs with extensive, symmetrical involvement. In addition, our case has unique clinical features showing multifocal lesions. Herein, we present the clinical presentation of atypical ACC and its clinical course.

      • Treatment of adverse granulomatous reactions due to paraffin injection performed by non-professionals

( Jemin Kim ),( Jihee Kim ),( Young In Lee ),( Ju Hee Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2018 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.70 No.1

Injection of paraffin causes granulomatous foreign body reaction commonly known as paraffinoma. Two middle aged women visited the clinic with history of asymptomatic, irregular contoured plaque on the forehead. Both had history of paraffin injections to the forehead more than 5 years before the visit. The injections were performed by non-medical personnel. Physical examination revealed a partially erythematous, indurated, firm nodule on the glabella and sclerotic textural changes over the malar aspect of the cheeks. The formation of a foreign body granuloma is common complication of paraffin or silicone injection on the skin. When possible, surgical removal is the most effective modality to prevent relapse or exacerbation of the lesion. However, complete surgical removal is not possible especially in patients with long standing history who presents with dispersed nodular lesions. Both patients underwent serial treatments with non-ablative and ablative fractional laser along with intralesional triamcinolone injection for the deep seated nodules. After 3 and 5 sessions of treatment, respectively, irregular contour and skin texture were much improved. No patient develops adverse side effects after the laser treatment. Based on the successful treatment outcome observed in the patients, we suggest that fractional laser can be an effective modality for the treatment of foreign body granuloma induced by paraffin.

      • Treatment of venous malformations with an 805-nm long-pulsed diode laser

( Jemin Kim ),( Young In Lee ),( Jihee Kim ),( Ju Hee Lee ) 대한피부과학회 2018 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.70 No.2

Background: Venous malformations manifest with soft, vascular masses that can induce pain, swelling, and cosmetic disfigurement. Even though the long-pulsed diode laser is known to have the ability to spare the epidermis and penetrate vascular structures, data on the effectiveness and safety of the laser in the treatment of venous malformations are scarce. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 805-nm long-pulsed diode laser for the treatment of venous malformations. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of eleven patients with venous malformations who were treated by the long-pulsed diode laser at the scar laser and plastic surgery center of Yonsei cancer hospital and Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center. Results: A blinded assessment of the clinical efficacy showed good to excellent results in 73% of patients and poor to fair results in 27%. All patients denied any adverse effects such as bleeding or blistering during follow-up periods. Conclusion: We have shown that the 805 nm long-pulsed diode laser was effective for venous malformations, and that the treatment was without noticeable adverse effects.
