        The Estimated Evacuation Time for the Emergency Planning Zone of the Kori Nuclear Site, with a Focus on the Precautionary Action Zone

        Background: The emergency planning zone (EPZ) of the city of Busan is divided into the precautionary actions zone (PAZ) and the urgent protective action planning zone; which have a 5-km radius and a 20-km to 21-km radius from the nuclear power plant site, respectively. In this study, we assumed that a severe accident occurred at Shin-Kori nuclear unit 3 and evaluated the dispersion speed of radiological material at each distance at various wind speeds, and estimated the effective dose equivalent and the evacuation time of PAZ residents with the goal of supporting off-site emergency action planning for the nuclear site. Materials and Methods: The total effective dose equivalent, which shows the effect of released radioactive materials on the residents, was evaluated using the RASCAL 4.2 program. In addition, a survey of 1,036 residents was performed using a standardized questionnaire, and the resident evacuation time according to road and distance was analyzed using the VISSIM 6.0 program. Results and Discussion: According to the results obtained using the VISSIM and RASCAL programs, it would take approximately 80 to 252.2 minutes for permanent residents to move out of the PAZ boundary, 40 to 197.2 minutes for students, 60 to 232.2 minutes for the infirm, such as elderly people and those in a nursing home or hospital, and 30 to 182.2 minutes for those temporarily within the area. Consequently, in the event of any delay in the evacuation, it is estimated that the residents would be exposed to up to $10mSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ of radiation at the Exclusion Area Boundaries (EAB) boundary and $4-6mSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ at the PAZ boundary. Conclusion: It was shown that the evacuation time for the residents is adequate in light of the time lapse from the initial moment of a severe accident to the radiation release. However, in order to minimize the evacuation time, it is necessary to maintain a system of close collaboration to avoid traffic congestion and spontaneous evacuation attempts.

        In this paper, we propose a new architecture of the PN code acquisition system which has some shared hardware blocks in order to reduce the hardware complexity. The proposed system has an energy calculation block which is shared by two active correlators. Our system is designed suitable for IS-95 based CDMA PCS. The new architecture was designed and simulated using VHDL. The gate count is about 7,500. Our proposed architecture is also useful for multi-carrier system which uses the multiple searcher.

      • A Research on the Automated Synthesis of Avatars using Interactive Evolutionary Computation

        본 연구는 사람의 얼굴이 포함된 2D 이미지로부터 자동으로 특징점을 추출한 다음, IEC((Interactive Evolutionary Computation)을 이용해서 사용자의 아바타를 자동으로 생성하는 것이 목적이다. RGB 컬러 모델에 비해 조명의 영향을 덜 받는 HSI 컬러 모델을 이용하여 사람의 얼굴과 배경을 분리해 내었다. 분리된 이미지로부터 윤곽선 추출을 한 다음 윤곽선 이미지의 세로축 히스토그램을 이용하여 얼굴의 각 요소를 분리해 내었다. 윤곽선을 추출할 때에 소벨 필터를 이용하여 얻어낸 이미지는 일반적으로 거칠고 많은 노이즈를 포함하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 변형된5*5 Laplaician of Gaussian 필터(Mexican hat)를 사용하여 그러한 문제점들을 극복하였다. 이렇게 찾아낸 얼굴의 특징점들을 이용하여 사용자와 닮은 아바타를 생성하였다. 그런 다음 IEC를 사용하여 사용자와 상호작용에 의해 사용자의 외모만이 아닌 사용자의 감정까지도 표현하는 아바타를 생성하였다. This paper is focused on creating avatars from a 2D Image which contains a human face and utilizing IEC(Interactive Evolutionary Computation). We separate the background from a human face by using color information which is done based on the HSI color model, not on the RGB color model. Then, we detect the edges from that image and draw a histogram about y-axis so that we may divide each area of face's elements (eyebrows, eyes, nose, lip). In general cases, the image features can be extracted with Sobel edge filter. But this 5 by 5 Laplacian of Gaussian filter, a Mexican hat, which easily eliminates noise and finds feature points of eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lip from a face. By referring to these points, we created an avatar that resembles a user. Our application, then, interacts with user, and executes evolutionary computation (IEC). Thus, the created avatar has the user's appearance as well as the user's sensitivity.

        A Study on the Change of Capital Market Using the Fundamental Analysis Variables

        본 연구는 기본적 분석 변수를 활용하여 비이익 재무제표 정보의 유용성이 외환위기 전후기간에 차이가 있는지를 검증하였으며, 이에 더해 외환위기 이후 중요성이 높아진 비이익 재무제표정보에 해당하는 기본적 분석 변수에 대해 분석하였다. 외환위기 전후기간을 집단으로 나누어 연구한 결과에 의하면 회계정보의 가치관련성은 외환위기 이후 기간에서 더욱 높았고, 외환위기 이후 기간이 기본적 분석 변수의 추가적인 설명능력도 높게 나타났으며, 외환위기를 전후하여 유의하게 나타난 기본적 분석 변수에도 차이가 있었다. 이에 더해, 외환위기 전후 dummy변수인 POST를 사용하여 회귀분석을 한 결과 매출총이익(POST*⊿GMSAL), 매출(POST*⊿SALA), 매출원가(POST*⊿CGSA), 매출채권(POST*⊿SALAR), 인건비(POST*⊿ASLR)의 경우에는 (+)를 나타내었으며, 설비투자(POST*⊿CAPEX), 자산(POST*⊿ASA)은 (-)를 나타내었다. 이는 수익성을 나타내는 기본적 분석 변수인 매출총이익(ΔGMSAL), 매출원가(⊿CGSA), 인건비(⊿ASLR)는 외환위기 이후에 주식시장에서 더욱 유의해진 것을 의미한다. 반면, 기업규모의 성장을 의미하는 설비투자(⊿CAPEXA), 자산(⊿ASA)의 경우에는 외환위기를 거치면서 오히려 (-) 효과를 내는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 외환위기 이후 기업이 구조조정을 하면 주식시장에서 호신호로 받아들였던 것과 일치하는 결과이다. 이러한 결과를 종합하면 외환위기를 거치면서 우리나라 주식시장에서는 자산이나 설비투자와 같은 규모의 성장보다는 수익성을 중요하게 반영하게 된 것을 의미한다. In this study’s analysis pre and post the Financial Crisis, the value correlations of the accounting information and the additional explanation ability of the fundamental variables were found to be very high after the Financial Crisis. The significant fundamental variables varied pre and post the crisis. Inventory (SALINV) was found to be significant before the Financial Crisis but was found insignificant after. On the other hand, Accounts Receivable (⊿SALAR) and Personnel Expenses (⊿ASLR) were not significant before the Financial Crisis but significant after the crisis, and the signs also changed from negative (-) to positive (+). Meanwhile, Gross Profits (⊿GMSAL) showed negative (-) coefficients before the crisis, but showed positive (+) coefficients after. Also, the results from conducting regression analysis using POST, which is the dummy variable representing the periods pre and post the Financial Crisis, show that Gross Profits (POST*⊿GMS AL), S ales ( POS T*⊿SALA), Cost of Sales (POST*⊿CGSA), Accounts Receivable (POST*⊿SALAR) and Personnel Expenses (POST*⊿ASLR) showed positive (+) signs, but Equipment Investment (POST*⊿CAPEX) and Assets (POST*⊿ASA) showed negative (-) signs. Such changes mean that while undergoing the crisis, companies that continued to focus on gross sales-oriented growth underwent many difficulties, so that investors gave greater weight on profitability when investing in the stock market.

        Profiles in the Work Values of College Graduates and Their Relation to Person-Job Fit and Job Satisfaction

        This study identified the work value profiles of Korean college graduates and verified the differences in job satisfaction and person-job (P-J) fit. It used 9,287 participants’ data from the 2019 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey. The latent profile analysis indicated four work value profiles of college graduates. Chi-square statistics for pairwise differences between the identified profiles on P-J fit and job satisfaction showed that the highly balanced group had the highest mean scores on P-J fit and job satisfaction, followed by the average balanced, self-oriented, and passive groups. This study provides theoretical and practical implications, emphasizing intrinsic and balanced values.

        Local and Nonlocal Fraunhofer-like Pattern from an Edge-Stepped Topological Surface Josephson Current Distribution

        <P>We report a surface-dominant Josephson effect in superconductor–topological insulator–superconductor (S–TI–S) devices, where a Bi<SUB>1.5</SUB>Sb<SUB>0.5</SUB>Te<SUB>1.7</SUB>Se<SUB>1.3</SUB> (BSTS) crystal flake was adopted as an intervening TI between Al superconducting electrodes. We observed a Fraunhofer-type critical current modulation in a perpendicular magnetic field in an Al–TI–Al junction for both local and nonlocal current biasing. Fraunhofer-type modulation of the differential resistance was also observed in a neighboring Au–TI–Au normal junction when it was nonlocally biased by the Al–TI–Al junction. In all cases, the Fraunhofer-like signal was highly robust to the magnetic field up to the critical field of the Al electrodes, corresponding to the edge-stepped nonuniform supercurrent density arising from the top and rough side surfaces of the BSTS flake, which strongly suggests that the Josephson coupling in a TI is established through the surface conducting channels that are topologically protected.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2014/nalefd.2014.14.issue-9/nl501481b/production/images/medium/nl-2014-01481b_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl501481b'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

        Hydrogenated Nanocrystalline Silicon Thin Films Deposited by Rf-Magnetron Sputtering

        Nanocrystals are formed in hydrogenated, metal-catalyzed, and recrystallized silicon thin lms deposited by rf-magnetron sputtering. The nanocrystals grow in dierent environments and show various sizes and distributions : L = 3 8 nm for the hydrogenated silicon, L = 30 70 nm for the metal-catalyzed silicon, and undetermined for the recrystallized silicon (i.e., due to the extremely limited line width compared to instrumental line width). Their sizes are scaled below 20 nm by Raman spectra but extend above 20 nm by X-ray diraction lines. The size of nanocrystals in the hydrogenated silicon is also conrmed by measurements by transmission electron microscopy.
