<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This work reports on the in-situ chemical synthesis and their properties of the core (active material)/shell (conductive material) type Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/graphene quantum dots (QDs). The stable oxygen bridge bonds between the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> core and the oxygen-related functional groups on the graphene shells facilitate the efficient charge/discharge performance. The efficient electron transfer process between the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> core and the graphene shell lead to an improvement in the electrochemical activity. The specific capacitances of Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/graphene QDs electrode, without conductive additives, exhibit high values of 2435 F g<SUP>−1</SUP> at current densities of 1 A g<SUP>−1</SUP>. It breaks through 126% of the initial capacitance after 500 cycles and show above 112% even after 4500 cycles. The excellent performance of the Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>/G QDs electrode is attributed to the significant improvement of the electrochemical activity, without conductive additives, due to the presence of metal oxide QD covered by graphene shells which leads to the good electrical properties.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This work reports on the in-situ chemical synthesis and their properties of multilayer graphene (MLG) shells, made by unzipping single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), on the surface of Zinc oxide (ZnO) core nanoparticles (NPs). The stable oxygen bridge bonds between the ZnO core and the oxygen-related functional groups on the MLG shells facilitate the efficient photoinduced charge separation. This charge separation mechanism is confirmed experimentally using time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) measurements. The calculated average carrier lifetimes of the ZnO@MLG NPs are approximately 10<SUP>2</SUP> times faster than those for the bare ZnO NPs. The efficient electron transfer between the ZnO core and the MLG shell resulted in the significant improvement of the photocatalytic activity and the photoelectrochemical response. Simultaneously, the photocorrosion of ZnO was prevented by having the oxygen bridge bonds between the ZnO and MLG which suppressed the photo-generated holes oxidizing the surface oxygen atoms on ZnO, and in turn the holes are consumed by photocatalytic reaction. The 4.3 times enhanced photocurrent density at 0.2V vs. Ag/AgCl (pH 6.9) and around 10 times higher rate constant value of photodegradation of rhodamine B were achieved by ZnO@MLG NPs in comparison with those of bare ZnO NPs.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A simple and facile technique for synthesis of ZnO@MLG NPs from SWCNTs. </LI> <LI> Strong bonds between a ZnO core and a multilayer graphene shells enhance charge separation properties and the long-term stability. </LI> <LI> The quenching ratio and FRET efficiency are significantly increased by more than 98%. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Two Shih-Tzu dogs with atopic dermatitis presented with delayed periocular dermatitis (PD) following the instillation of dorzolamide and dorzolamide/timolol combination eyedrops; the development of dermatologic signs took 94 and 104 d in cases 1 and 2, respectively. Hypersensitivity to anti-glaucoma eyedrops was highly suspected, and treatment was discontinued. Delayed PD was significantly relieved in cases 1 and 2, at days 155 and 64 after discontinuation, respectively. In this study, the clinical characteristics and progression of delayed PD were described to inform clinicians who may encounter this rare side effect.

We demonstrated the thermally robust reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/boron nitride nanotube (BNNT) papers and theirapplication in electromagnetic interference shielding. In order to overcome the thermal durability shortcomings of electromagneticwave shielding paper based on rGO nanomaterial, rGO/BNNT electromagnetic interference (EMI) shieldingpaper having excellent thermal durability could be manufactured using BNNT nanomaterials having excellent chemical andthermal stability at high temperature. With the addition of a little BNNT, the durability against temperature can be increasedby more than two times while there is little reduction in EMI performance.
Measurement of Illusion Effect When Putting with Eyes Foveating on the Hole vs. Ball

Goodale & Milner(1992)의 연구에 따르면 골프 퍼팅과 같이 느린 자조과제(self-paced task)에서도 빠른 공을 가로챌 때 요구되는 것과 동일한 캡슐화 시각운동성 시스템(encapsulated visuomotor systems)이 사용된다. 성공적인골프 퍼팅을 위해서는 정확한 방향과 거리 판단이 선행되어야 하는데 이때 수행자는 착시의 영향을 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 퍼팅 수행이 입력된 감각정보를 다르게 변형시키는 피질 경로를 통해 이뤄지는지 알아보는것이었다. 실험 1에서는 퍼팅 과제 수행 시 숙련자와 초급자 모두 Muller-Lyer 착시효과의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 실험 2에서는 퍼팅 수행 시 시선을 공 대신 홀컵에 고정시키도록 하였다. 초급자 집단은 착시의 영향을 받은 것으로 나타난 반면 숙련자 집단은 익숙하지 않은 시선 고정 위치에도 불구하고 착시의 영향을 받지 않았다. 수행을 하는 데 있어서 시선이 고정되는 위치는 매우 중요하다. 표적(홀컵)이 주변시야에 위치하면 숙련자이더라도 퍼팅 시 착시를 유도하는 환경중심적인 맥락의존 정보(context-dependent information)에 의존하는 점에 대해 논의하였다. Goodale and Milner (1992) proposed that the same encapsulated visuomotor systems required in interceptinga fast ball will be used in slower, self-paced tasks such as putting. The purpose of the study was todetermine if putting is mediated by distinct cortical pathways that transform sensory inputs differently. InExperiment 1, both expert and novice players were unable to resist Muller-Lyer illusion when putting. InExperiment 2, when expert and novice players foveated their eyes on the hole instead, only experts resistedillusion despite the unfamiliarity and awkwardness of gazing on the hole rather than the usual ball. We argue that foveal vision plays a critical role in action and that when the target is observed in peripheralvision, regardless of expertise, the putting relies on allocentric, context-dependent information that leadsto illusion.

<B>Abstract</B><P>A rapid method for the simultaneous determination of flavonol aglycones in food using ultra-high-performance LC (u-HPLC) coupled with a heating-block acidic hydrolysis method was validated in terms of precision, accuracy, and linearity. The u-HPLC separation was performed on an RP C18 column (particle size 2 μm id, 2 mm, length 100 mm) with a photodiode array detector. The LOD and LOQ of the u-HPLC analyses were 0.15 and 0.47 mg/kg for myricetin, 0.09 and 0.28 mg/kg for quercetin, 0.16 and 0.49 mg/kg for kaempferol, and 0.08 and 0.25 mg/kg for isorhamnetin. The intraday and interday precisions of the individual flavonol aglycones were less than 9.31%. All calibration curves exhibited good linearity (r2 = 0.99) within the tested ranges. Total run time of u-HPLC was 13 min. The rapid u-HPLC method presented herein significantly improved the speed, sensitivity, and resolution of the analyses of myricetin, quercetin, kaempferol, and isorhamnetin in food.</P>
Simultaneous Determination of Free Capsorubin and Capsanthin in Red Pepper Powder Using u-HPLC

<B>Abstract</B><P>A simultaneous ultra-HPLC (u-HPLC) method for the determination of free capsorubin and capsanthin in red pepper powder was validated in terms of its precision, accuracy, and linearity. The u-HPLC separation was performed on an RP C18 column (particle size 2 μm, id 2 mm length 100 mm) and with a photodiode-array detector. The recoveries of capsorubin were greater than 83.8 ± 1.7%; the LOD and LOQ of the u-HPLC analyses were 0.043 and 0.129 mg/kg, respectively. The intraday and interday precisions for capsorubin were less than 9.01%. The recoveries of capsanthin were greater than 87.7 ± 1.5%, and the LOD and LOQ were 0.101 and 0.306 mg/kg, respectively. The intraday and interday precisions for capsanthin were less than 12.66%. All calibration curves for capsorubin and capsanthin exhibited good linearity (r2 = 0.99) within the tested ranges.</P>

<B>Abstract</B><P>A rapid and novel ultra-HPLC (u-HPLC) method for the determination of vitamins A (retinol) and E (α-, γ-, and δ-tocopherol) in foods was validated in terms of its precision, accuracy, and linearity. The u-HPLC separation was performed on an RP C18 column (particle size 2 μm, id 2 mm, and length 75 mm), followed by fluorescence detection. The recovery of retinol was more than 84.58%; the LOD and LOQ of the u-HPLC analysis were 0.015 and 0.045 mg/kg, respectively. The intraday and interday precision was less than 9.12%. The recoveries of α-, γ-, and δ-tocopherol were more than 81.37%; the LOD and the LOQ were 0.014, 0.002, and 0.001 mg/kg and 0.042, 0.005, and 0.004 mg/kg, respectively. All calibration curves had good linearity (r2 = 0.99) within the test ranges. The novel, rapid method coupled to u-HPLC can provide significant improvements in the speed, sensitivity, and resolution compared with a conventional HPLC method.</P>
