      • Search for light tetraquark states in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) decays

        Jia, S.,Shen, C. P.,Yuan, C. Z.,Adachi, I.,Ahn, J. K.,Aihara, H.,Al Said, S.,Asner, D. M.,Atmacan, H.,Aushev, T.,Ayad, R.,Babu, V.,Badhrees, I.,Bahinipati, S.,Bakich, A. M.,Bansal, V.,Behera, P.,Berge American Physical Society 2017 Physical review. D Vol.96 No.11

        <P>We search for the J(PC) = 0(--) and 1(+-) light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46 GeV/c(2) in gamma(1S) and gamma(2S) decays with data samples of (102 +/- 2) million and (158 +/- 4) million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90% credibility level (C. L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays into final states with f(1)(1285) are measured to be B(Upsilon(1S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (46 +/- 28(stat) +/- 13(syst)) x 10(-4) and B(Upsilon(2S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (22 +/- 15(stat) +/- 6.3(syst)) x 10(-4). The measured chi(b2) -> J/Psi + anything branching fraction is measured to be (1.50 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.22(syst)) x 10(-3), and 90% C. L. upper limits for the chi(b0;b1) -> J/Psi + anything branching fractions are found to be 2.3 x 10(-3) and 1.1 x 10(-3), respectively. For B(chi(b1) -> omega + anything), the branching fraction is measured to be (4.9 +/- 1.3(stat) +/- 0.6(syst) x 10(-2). All results reported here are the first measurements for these modes.</P>

Evaluation for fracture resistance curves of nuclear real pipes using curved equivalent stress gradient (curved ESG) specimens

        Shen, T.,Park, K.t.,Choi, J.g.,Moon, B.W.,Koo, J.M.,Seok, C.S. Pergamon Press 2017 Engineering fracture mechanics Vol.169 No.-

<P>The leak-before-break (LBB) concept was usually applied to design and estimate the piping system in nuclear power plant, which is based on the fracture resistance (J-R) curves of nuclear real pipe. However, the real pipe test is costly and difficult. Instead of the real pipe test, the J-R curves of standard specimens suggested in the ASTM El 820 were used. Nonetheless, the J-R curves obtained from the standard specimens are too conservative, owing to the differences in specimen geometries and loading configurations (constraint effect). Thus, in this study the equivalent stress gradient (curved ESG) specimens were developed to evaluate the J-R curves of nuclear real pipes (SA-312 TP304L) precisely. The curved ESG specimens were designed to show the same crack-opening stress gradients as those of the real pipes at the driving force J = J(Ic). The J(Ic) for stainless steel SA-312 TP304L was obtained by the J-R tests on standard compact tension (CT) specimens. Comparison of the J-R curves obtained from the curved ESG specimens and those obtained from the real pipes show that the curved ESG specimen can be used in the LBB concept to design and estimate the piping systems. Transformation of fracture resistance curves by using bending modified Q (Qm) factor

        Shen, T.,Park, K.,Choi, J.,Moon, B.,Koo, J. M.,Seok, C. S. Springer Science + Business Media 2017 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.18 No.1

<P>The application of the leak-before-break (LBB) concept to design and assess piping systems for nuclear power plants requires fracture resistance curves (J-R curves) of cracked full scale pipes. However, it is expensive and difficult to perform full scale pipe tests. Laboratory test specimens with smaller geometry size were used to obtain the J-R curves for full scale pipes, but as both the specimen geometry and loading configuration have a strong effect on J-R curves, it is difficult to predict the J-R curves of full scale pipes accurately from laboratory test specimens. In this study, based on the bending modified Q (Q(m)) factor, and the J-R curves of compact tension (CT) specimens and curved wide plate (CWP) specimens, constraint corrected J-R curves of the stainless steel SA-312 TP304L were obtained, which were used to predict the J-R curves of full scale pipes. The predictions show good agreement with full scale pipe test results within the specific crack growth range.</P>

DNA 분석을 통한 한우 , 연변황우 및 화우의 유전적 특성

        신원집,여정수,김재우,신수길,정진우,이지홍 한국축산학회 1999 한국축산학회지 Vol.41 No.4

This study was conducted to identify the genetic parameters and genetic relationships among 3 cattle breeds of Hanwoo (Korea), Yanbian yellow cattle (China), and Wagyu (Japan). DNA fingerprinting was prepared using M13 probe and Pst 1 enzyme. Genetic homogencities of Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle were comparatively lower than that of Wagyu, suggesting genetic improvement by active breeding program for Wagyu compared to Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle and possibility of improvement capacity for Hanwoo and Yanbian yellow cattle. Genetic similarities between breeds were not significantly different among them, suggesting that these 3 breeds have been raised independently without any inflow or outflow of gene source for a while.

Tokamak plasma disruption precursor onset time study based on semi-supervised anomaly detection

        X.K. Ai,W. Zheng,M. Zhang,D.L. Chen,C.S. Shen,B.H. Guo,B.J. Xiao,Y. Zhong,N.C. Wang,Z.J. Yang,Z.P. Chen,Z.Y. Chen,Y.H. Ding,Y. Pan Korean Nuclear Society 2024 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.56 No.4

Plasma disruption in tokamak experiments is a challenging issue that causes damage to the device. Reliable prediction methods are needed, but the lack of full understanding of plasma disruption limits the effectiveness of physics-driven methods. Data-driven methods based on supervised learning are commonly used, and they rely on labelled training data. However, manual labelling of disruption precursors is a time-consuming and challenging task, as some precursors are difficult to accurately identify. The mainstream labelling methods assume that the precursor onset occurs at a fixed time before disruption, which leads to mislabeled samples and suboptimal prediction performance. In this paper, we present disruption prediction methods based on anomaly detection to address these issues, demonstrating good prediction performance on J-TEXT and EAST. By evaluating precursor onset times using different anomaly detection algorithms, it is found that labelling methods can be improved since the onset times of different shots are not necessarily the same. The study optimizes precursor labelling using the onset times inferred by the anomaly detection predictor and test the optimized labels on supervised learning disruption predictors. The results on J-TEXT and EAST show that the models trained on the optimized labels outperform those trained on fixed onset time labels.

Improving mechanical and magnetocaloric responses of amorphous melt-extracted Gd-based microwires via nanocrystallization

        Belliveau, H.F.,Yu, Y.Y.,Luo, Y.,Qin, F.X.,Wang, H.,Shen, H.X.,Sun, J.F.,Yu, S.C.,Srikanth, H.,Phan, M.H. Elsevier 2017 JOURNAL OF ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS Vol.692 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report on the structural, mechanical, and magnetocaloric properties of annealed melt-extracted Gd53Al24Co20Zr3 amorphous microwires of ∼70 μm diameter. During heat treatment small islands of nanocrystallities are generated and isolated in the amorphous region for the wires. The size of the nanocrystallities ranges from 5 nm to 10 nm. The observed lattice distortion from the nanocrystallities causes changes in the magnetic properties of the wires. The annealing temperature of 100 °C has the largest strength (1845 MPa) as compared to wires annealed at other temperatures. This is likely to trigger nanophase transformation in the amorphous region and these nanocrystals have been preserved through the increase of annealing temperature. The formulation of the nanocrystalline islands is also verified by the selected-area electron diffraction (SAED). The microwires exhibit a large and reversible magnetocaloric effect (MCE), with the maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change (−Δ<I>S</I> M) and refrigerant capacity (<I>RC</I>) values of 9.5 J/kg K and 689 J/kg respectively for the microwire annealed at 100 °C. This <I>RC</I> is about 35%, 67%, and 91% larger than those of bulk Gd53Al24Co20Zr3 (∼509 J/kg), Gd (∼410 J/kg), and Gd5Si2Ge1.9Fe0.1 (∼360 J/kg) regardless of their ordering temperatures. These results demonstrate the ability to tune the mechanical and magnetic properties of the microwires by thermal annealing.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The impact of nanocrystallization in Gd53Al24Co20Zr3 microwires. </LI> <LI> Enhanced mechanical strength. </LI> <LI> Enhanced magnetocaloric response. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • MiR-145 functions as a tumor suppressor by directly targeting histone deacetylase 2 in liver cancer

        Noh, J.H.,Chang, Y.G.,Kim, M.G.,Jung, K.H.,Kim, J.K.,Bae, H.J.,Eun, J.W.,Shen, Q.,Kim, S.J.,Kwon, S.H.,Park, W.S.,Lee, J.Y.,Nam, S.W. Elsevier Science Ireland 2013 Cancer letters Vol.335 No.2

Aberrant regulation of histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) plays a pivotal role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but, the underlying mechanism leading to HDAC2 overexpression is not well understood. We performed microRNA (miRNA) profiling analysis in a subset of HCCs, and identified four down-regulated miRNAs that may target HDAC2 in HCC. Ectopic expression of miRNA mimics evidenced that miR-145 suppresses HDAC2 expression in HCC cells. This treatment repressed cancer cell growth and recapitulated HDAC2 knockdown effects on HCC cells. In conclusion, we suggest that loss or suppression of miR-145 may cause aberrant overexpression of HDAC2 and promote HCC tumorigenesis.

Effects of Corn and Soybean Meal Types on Rumen Fermentation, Nitrogen Metabolism and Productivity in Dairy Cows

        Shen, J.S.,Song, L.J.,Sun, H.Z.,Wang, B.,Chai, Z.,Chacher, B.,Liu, J.X. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2015 Animal Bioscience Vol.28 No.3

Twelve multiparous Holstein dairy cows in mid-lactation were selected for a replicated $4{\times}4$ Latin square design with a $2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement to investigate the effects of corn and soybean meal (SBM) types on rumen fermentation, N metabolism and lactation performance in dairy cows. Two types of corn (dry ground [DGC] and steam-flaked corn [SFC]) and two types of SBM (solvent-extracted and heat-treated SBM) with different ruminal degradation rates and extents were used to formulate four diets with the same basal ingredients. Each period lasted for 21 days, including 14 d for adaptation and 7 d for sample collection. Cows receiving SFC had a lower dry matter (DM) and total N intake than those fed DGC. However, the milk yield and milk protein yield were not influenced by the corn type, resulting in higher feed and N utilization efficiency in SFC-fed cows than those receiving DGC. Ruminal acetate concentrations was greater and total volatile fatty acids concentrations tended to be greater for cows receiving DGC relative to cows fed SFC, but milk fat content was not influenced by corn type. The SFC-fed cows had lower ruminal ammonia-N, less urea N in their blood and milk, and lower fecal N excretion than those on DGC. Compared with solvent-extracted SBM-fed cows, cows receiving heat-treated SBM had lower microbial protein yield in the rumen, but similar total tract apparent nutrient digestibility, N metabolism measurements, and productivity. Excessive supply of metabolizable protein in all diets may have caused the lack of difference in lactation performance between SBM types. Results of the present study indicated that increasing the energy degradability in the rumen could improve feed efficiency, and reduce environmental pollution.
