한반도 서해상으로 장거리 이동하는 SO₂의 농도 및 연직분포 특징

This study was carried out to understand long-range transport of SO₂ using aircraft measurements for the identification of it's horizontal and vertical concentration and distribution pattern. Thirteen missions of aircraft measurements have been done around 37˚00′/124˚30′ from October 1997 to November 2001. Concentrations of SO₂ was 1.5~2.0 ppb in the below mixing layer, 0.6~1.1 ppb in the above mixing layer. SO₂was found to be relatively higher than marine background level, 0.08~0.2ppb, indicating the western coast being influenced by long-range transport except for the summer season. The vertical distribution of SO₂was classified into 3 groups using its vertical sounding and meteorology pattern; the first is linear decay pattern, the second is exponential decay pattern, and the last is gaussian distribution pattern in the below mixing layer, 2 patterns of linear decay and gaussian distribution patterns in the upper layer. It is founded that vertical distribution pattern is strongly dependent on meteorological condition, for example atmospheric stability and predominant air flow.

<P>The clinical characteristics of postoperative delirium are similar to core features of α-synuclein-related cognitive disorders, such as dementia with Lewy bodies or Parkinson disease dementia. We therefore investigated the α-synuclein pathology in patients who experienced postoperative delirium after gastrectomy for stomach cancer.</P>

<P>Huntington's disease (HD) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease caused by cytosine-adenine-guanine trinucleotide repeat expansion in the huntingtin gene. Growing evidence supports the regulatory functions of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the disease process, but little is known about the association between lncRNAs and neuronal death in HD. Here, we evaluated the altered expression profiles of lncRNA in HD by using microarrays. Among dysregulated lncRNAs, we focused on the upregulation of nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1). Quantitative PCR analysis validated increased NEAT1 levels in the R6/2 mouse brain as well as the human HD postmortem brain. To determine the biological effects of NEAT1 on neuronal survival, neuro2A cells were transfected with the NEAT1 short isoform vector and were subjected to H2O2-induced injury. Subsequently, NEAT1-transfected cells showed increased viability under oxidative stress. Our observations support the notion that NEAT1 upregulation in HD contributes to the neuroprotective mechanism against neuronal injury rather than the pathological process underlying neurodegeneration in HD.</P>

Software-In-the-Loop Simulation (SILS) and Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) are proposed as an integrated development environment to support the development process from system design to implementation. SILS is an environment used to simulate control systems with temporal behavior. RCP offers seamless phase shift from design to implementation based on automatic code generation. There are several toolsets that support control system design and analysis. A few of these tools generate the control software automatically. However, most of these design toolsets do not cover temporal behavior which appears after implementation. In earlier toolsets, the design and the implementation of a control system are considered as two separate processes which mean the conventional development process is not connected strictly. SILS/RCP environments work under an identical platform and use the same representation for system modeling. An integrated SILS/RCP environment makes it possible to design controllers under conditions similar to real execution during off-line simulation and to realize controllers in the early design phase. SILS/RCP environments integrate the design and implementation phases which reduce the time-to-market and provide greater performance-assured design. The establishment of SILS/RCP and the practical design approaches are presented.

<P>A bioreductant-resistant 'turn-on' chemodosimetric fluorescent probe Mito-1 has been developed for the detection of mitochondrial HNO in live cells. Mito-1 enables the detection of HNO as low as similar to 18 nM. It has the capability to detect both exogenous and endogenous mitochondrial HNO formations in cellular milieus by providing fluorescence images. Its two-photon imaging ability fosters its use as a non-invasive imaging tool for the detection of mitochondrial nitroxyl.</P>
