부산광역시의 균형발전을 위한 행정구역별 생활ㆍ환경의 질 격차 분석

지역격차는 선진지역과 낙후지역 간의 사회적 대립과 갈등, 그리고 지역 주민들에게 미치는 악영향, 불평등 발전 등 생활ㆍ환경의 심각한 문제를 수반한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 중요한 것은 미리 지역 간의 격차를 분석하여 균형적인 발전을 도모하는 일이다. 본 연구에서는 시간적 범위를 1995년에서 2005년으로 정하였고, 공간적 범위를 부산광역시의 16개 구ㆍ군으로 정하였다. 그리고 표준화점수(Z-score)에 가중치를 부여하여 행정구역별 격차를 공간적 분포로 분석하였다. 또한 년도별 변화추이를 분석함으로써 점차 발전 또는 낙후되는 지역을 알아보았다.
Google Maps를 이용한 지진발생 자료의 지리적 시각화

본 연구에서는 과거 지진발생 자료의 공간분포 특성을 시각화하여 웹서비스 함으로써 지진발생에 대한 전지구적 시계열 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 현재 미국의 National Geophysical Data Center에서는 제공하는 지진발생 정보를 보다 이해하기 쉽고 효율적으로 제공하기 위하여 Web 2.0 기반의 Google Maps를 이용하여 지진 발생지 정보와 지진피해 정보를 지리적으로 시각화하였다.

Cryptotympana atrata belongs to the family Cicadidae, has long been recognized as a damaging plant-sucking pest, and is distributed in East Asian countries. In addition, their cries cause direct harm to us through noise pollution and also reported twig damage in the forest environments. In this study, we isolated strains of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium that occurred from C. atrata collected this year. Here, we provide the morphological character and molecular phylogenetic relationship of this species. This is the first record of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium viridulum isolated from C. atrata in Korea and provides a candidate strain with potential use for biological agents.

Three types of green compacts were formed by using applied loads of 1, 2, and 3 ton, respectively, and were sintered at 980 C. The sintered ceramics with an applied load of 1 ton had the highest volume shrinkage, but the density was almost similar for all ceramics. There was no change in the crystal structure for all ceramics. The piezoelectric and the ferroelectric properties of the ceramics showed that the ceramic with an applied load of 1 ton had the best direct piezoelectric coefficient (d33) and the largest remnant polarization. The microstructure indicated that the ceramics with an applied load of 1 ton had an average grain size of 6 μm. The results suggest that the piezoelectric property could be directly related to the grain size.
A case of Spontaneous Uterine Rupture caused by Uterine Sarcoma in a Bicornuate Uterus

Spontaneous uterine rupture is presented most commonly with labor and delivery. When it does occur, the most common cause of rupture is dehiscence of a previous transmyometrial surgical incision, such as that from a cesarean section scar. Therefore spontaneous rupture of a uterus without a surgical scar is very uncommon and significantly less known. A 47-year-old nulliparous, virginal woman presented to the emergency department with a 2-day fever and acute abdominal pain. She also complained of a 2-month history of foul-smelling vaginal bleeding. The dynamic liver CT scan showed greater than 16-cm sized uterine mass and increased free fluid in the pelvic cavity, including both paracolic gutters, the perihepatic space, and the perisplenic space. Pelvic MRI revealed underlying uterus didelphys with an approximately 15-x9-x17-cm mass with mixed signal intensity in the lower abdominal area and an approximately 6-x2.7-x3-cm mass of the left cervix and lower uterine body on T2-weighted imaging. These MRI findings suggested the possibility of hemoperitoneum or cancer peritonei due to rupture of endometrial cancer, uterine sarcoma, or large myoma with degeneration. Under these impression, an exploratory laparotomy was performed. At surgical exploration, a ruptured bicornuate uterus with a large mass within the left uterine horn was seen. The mesentery of the small bowel and appendix were partially adhered to the uterine mass. Total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy was performed, and invasive cancer implants within the bowel were removed. Pathologic analysis confirmed an undifferentiated uterine sarcoma and she was diagnosed with FIGO Stage IIIA. She received 3 cycles of palliative chemotherapy using etoposide+ifosfamide regimen and has been followed up without disease recurrence.
Real-time monitoring of adipocyte differentiation using a capacitance sensor array.

<P>As obesity and its associated metabolic diseases become a worldwide epidemic, the demand for novel anti-obesity agents is increasing. We report a label-free and real-time monitoring method that uses a capacitance sensor array to screen anti-obesity agents. The results for the real-time capacitance of 3T3-L1 cells treated with 12 different chemicals extracted from natural products were consistent with the biochemical indicators of adipogenesis such as the expression of perilipin, the major protein coating the surface of lipid droplets in adipocytes. The data demonstrate that a capacitance change during adipocyte differentiation is closely associated with lipid accumulation in the cells, suggesting that adipocyte differentiation can be monitored in real time. This capacitance sensor might be used for label-free and real-time monitoring of adipocyte differentiation, and may facilitate the development of high throughput screening methods for anti-obesity drugs.</P>
EphB/ephrinB Signaling in Cell Adhesion and Migration

Eph receptors and their ligands, ephrins, represent the largest group of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family, and they mediate numerous developmental processes in a variety of organisms. Ephrins are membrane-bound proteins that are mainly divided into two classes: A class ephrins, which are linked to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage, and B class ephrins, which are transmembrane ligands. Based on their domain structures and affinities for ligand binding, the Eph receptors are also divided into two groups. Trans-dimerization of Eph receptors with their membrane-tethered ligands regulates cell-cell interactions and initiates bidirectional signaling pathways. These pathways are intimately involved in regulating cytoskeleton dynamics, cell migration, and alterations in cellular dynamics and shapes. The EphBs and ephrinBs are specifically localized and modified to promote higher-order clustering and initiate of bidirectional signaling. In this review, we present an in-depth overview of the structure, mechanisms, cell signaling, and functions of EphB/ephrinB in cell adhesion and migration.
유럽과 북미 RCAR 대응을 위한 Bumper system 최적설계

The RCAR has been estimating the damageability and reparability of motor vehicle to calculate insurance rate. For this, the override/underride tests and 40% offset 10dgree rigid wall test are performed to simulate real crash collision. Because customers can pay lower insurance in accordance with results of tests, car manufacturers need to develop efficient bumper system that can protect the vehicle from damage in low speed crash. In this paper, we have conducted case study using FEM analysis method and present improved design concept for RCAR.
