<P>Hybrid concepts are often used to improve existing methods in many fields. We developed a hybrid optical system that consists of multiple color cameras and one depth camera to make up the concavity problem of the visual hull construction. The heterogeneous data from the color cameras and the depth camera is fused in an effective way. The experimental results show that the proposed hybrid system can reconstruct concave objects successfully by combining the visual hull and the depth data.</P>

<P>The emergence of a triple phase point in a two-dimensional parameter space (such as pressure and temperature) can offer unforeseen opportunities for the coupling of two seemingly independent order parameters. On the basis of this, we demonstrate the electric control of magnetic order by manipulating chemical pressure: lanthanum substitution in the antiferromagnetic ferroelectric BiFeO3. Our demonstration relies on the finding that a multiferroic triple phase point of a single spin-disordered phase and two spin-ordered phases emerges near room temperature in Bi0.9La0.1FeO3 ferroelectric thin films. By using spatially resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy, we provide direct evidence that the electric poling of a particular region of the compound near the triple phase point results in an antiferromagnetic phase while adjacent unpoled regions remain magnetically disordered, opening a promising avenue for magnetoelectric applications at room temperature.</P>
HCV core protein promotes liver fibrogenesis via up-regulation of CTGF with TGF-b1

Liver cirhosis is one of the major complications of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, but the me-chanisms underlying HCV-related fibrogenesis are stil not clear. Although the roles of HCV core protein remain poorly understood, it is supposed to play an important role in the regulation of celular growth and hepatocarcinogenesis. The aim of this study was to examine the role of HCV established an in vitro co-culture system with primary hepatic stellate cel (HSC) isolated from rats, and a stable HepG2-HCV core cell line which had been transfected with HCV core gene. The expressions of fibrosis-related molecules trans-forming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), transforming growth factor β receptor II (TGFβRII), α-smoth muscle actin (α-SMA) and conective tisue growth factor (CTGF) were analyzed via histo-pression levels of matrix metaloprotinase-2 (MP- 2) and colagen type I (Col I) from the co-cultured media were measured by zymogram and ELISA, respectively. The expresions of α-SMA, TGF-β1, Col I, TGFβRII and MP-2 were significantly in-creased in the co-culture of stable HepG2-HCV core with HSC. Moreover, the significant increases of CTGF and TGF-β1 in the HCV core- expresing cels were observed by either Northern or Wes-tern blot analysis. These results sugest that HCV core protein may contribute to the hepatic fibro-via up-regulation of CTGF and TGF-β1.

FTA를 비롯하여 급속하게 진행된 산업 및 경영환경의 세계화는 국내 중소기업들의 글로벌 기술사업화를 위한 좋은 기회이지만 국내 중소기업의 기술 사업화 노력들이 성과로 이어지고 있는지 불투명하다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업의 글로벌 기술 사업화를 위해 글로벌 기술 사업화에 대한 개념 정리하고 해외 권역별(중국, 일본, 동남아, 유럽)로 현재 진출 하거나 진출을 희망하는 기업들을 대상으로 설문조사와 요인분석을 통해 중요요인을 실증적으로 도출하고 해당 기업들을 클러스터링 기법을 이용하여 구분하였다. 이를 기반으로 하여 경영자의 글로벌 마인드 고취 관련 전략, 기업역량·희망진출 권역별 맞춤형 지원전략 및 중소기업의 글로벌 생태계 역량강화전략을 제안한다. The rapidity at which industrial and business management environment has become globalized, including the FTA, has provided valuable opportunities for domestic small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to obtain global technological business. However, it is unclear whether or not the SMEs` attempt to advance global technological business is producing fruitful results. This study begins with defining global technological business and the efforts of SMEs to develop them and proceeds to discuss survey results that asked the reasoning behind SMEs that entered or wish to enter foreign spheres (China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe) of businesses, and also perform factorial analysis to obtain substantiation. The study classified the relevant SMEs using clustering method. Based on the results, the study makes recommendations to executives in instilling global-minded strategies, on customized support strategies depending on the SME`s capability and its intended foreign entry sphere, and on strengthening the SME`s competence on the global scale.

FPSO model tests of mooring line failure were carried out in the ocean basin at KRISO. The characteristics of the motions and mooring lines were investigated. The FPSO ship was moored using an internal turret and catenary mooring. The test model was 1/60 scale. The mooring lines were designed to satisfy the characteristics of the original mooring lines using the truncation method. The experiments were conducted under various environments: a safe wave, current and wind condition; single broken mooring line condition; and transient mode condition. The moment of the break was determined based on experimental test results. The results showed that the FPSO behavior and mooring line tensions were acceptable under the failure condition.

<P>Generation of a 3D model has been actively researched in computer vision area. Especially, modeling of a realistic human is a topic of great interest due to its use in many application areas such as animation and 3DTV. In this paper, a novel method is presented to generate a 3D human model using a sequence of depth images from a monocular TOF (time-of-flight) camera. Mainly, we solve a 'self-occlusion' problem which occurs in the depth data where a human model is partially occluded by other parts of a human body. This becomes very critical when we want to develop a human model for various applications. We demonstrate the capability of our method by showing experimental results that resolves a multiple occlusion problem.</P>

Purpose: Determination of the importance values of quality attributes is very important to integrate the Kano model with QFD. A new method to determine the importance values of quality attributes is proposed. Methods: ASC(Average Satisfaction Coefficient) is proposed in order to determine the importance values of quality attributes. To evaluate the effectiveness of ASC a case study of modern TV sets is conducted and the performance of ASC is compared with direct importance evaluation and AHP pairwise comparisons. Results: The result of ASC application is similar with those of direct importance evaluation and AHP pairwise comparison. Conclusion: ASC is an effective instrument to determine the importance values of quality attributes. It doesn``t need a cumbersome process like AHP pairwise comparison and can be calculated using the data for the conventional Kano model.
