Background/Aims: The adoption of colonoscopy as a primary colorectal cancer (CRC) screening technique has been argued for in Korea, without evidence of patient preferences. This study aimed to investigate patients’ preferences for the primary CRC screening test for the National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP). Methods: Between June and August 2016, 414 individuals aged ≥50 years who participated in the NCSP were prospectively invited to complete a questionnaire regarding their preferences for the primary CRC screening test and the reasons for their selection. Results: Among the 396 respondents who completed the questionnaire, 124 individuals (31.3%) preferred the fecal immunochemical test (FIT), whereas 272 individuals (68.7%) preferred colonoscopy. Elderly participants preferred the FIT (p<0.001), whereas participants with a higher education level (p=0.030), a higher income level (p=0.009), or individuals with a family member (p=0.028) or acquaintance (p=0.013) with a history of CRC preferred colonoscopy. Only 12.9% of participants had a bad experience with a previous FIT; however, 39.3% of participants had a bad experience with a previous colonoscopy. Conclusions: Colonoscopy was preferred to FIT in a 2.2:1 ratio as the primary CRC screening test for the NCSP. Patients’ preference for colonoscopy should be considered for the NCSP in Korea. Low-temperature photoluminescence of WO3 nanoparticles
Cho, Hak Dong,Yoon, Im Taek,Chung, Kwun Bum,Kim, Deuk Young,Kang, Tae Won,Yuldashev, Sh.U. Elsevier 2018 Journal of luminescence Vol.195 No.-
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper we report the results on the study of the low-temperature photoluminescence of WO3 nanoparticles uncoated and coated by carbon. The photoluminescence spectra of WO3 nanoparticles at T = 15K demonstrate the two sharp emission bands at 369nm and 374nm, respectively. The energy position, the small full width at half maximum (FWHM) of these bands and the strong quenching of the intensity with increasing temperature allowed us to attribute these emission bands to the radiative recombination of bound excitons. These excitons are localized on the donor states in the conduction band of WO3. The difference in the relative intensities of the bound exciton emission bands in the uncoated and the carbon coated WO3 nanoparticles is explained by the charge (electrons) transfer from the WO3 nanoparticles to the carbon coating layer.</P>
Differential gene expression profiles in salicylate ototoxicity of the mouse
Im, Gi Jung,Jung, Hak Hyun,Chae, Sung Won,Cho, Woo Sung,Kim, Seo Jin Scandinavian University Press 2007 Acta oto-laryngologica Vol.127 No.5
<P> Conclusion. This study demonstrated differential gene expression profiles in salicylate ototoxicity with oligonucleotide microarray. This study may also provide basic information on candidate genes associated with hearing loss and/or tinnitus or recovery after salicylate-induced cochlear dysfunction. Objectives: Salicylate ototoxicity is accompanied by temporary hearing loss and tinnitus. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the gene expression profiles in the mouse cochlea with salicylate ototoxicity using DNA microarray. Materials and methods: The subject mice were injected intraperitoneally with 400 mg/kg of sodium salicylate; an approximate 30 dB threshold shift that was observed by auditory brainstem response was achieved 3 h after an injection of sodium salicylate and the hearing threshold returned to within normal range at 3 days. Differential gene expression profiles at 3 h after salicylate injection in comparison to the normal cochlea were analyzed with DNA microarray technology. Results: No ultrastructural changes in the mice cochlea were observed by TEM at 3 h after salicylate injection. Microarray revealed that 87 genes were up-regulated twofold or more in the mouse cochlea with salicylate ototoxicity in comparison to the normal cochlea. Among these genes, increased expression levels of 30 functional genes were confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.</P>

In this paper, we judge whether the singularity occurs among the path of dual 6 DoF manipulator using manipulability, and analyze the characteristics in the velocity space of the straight path and alternative path what avoids the singularity using manipulability elipsoid. This allows better path to be determined in advance before following it. Experiments has confirmed that singularity occurs in straight path and eigenvalue in the direction of yaw is zero. In addition, the alternative path is identified as an improved path due to the large eigen value in the direction of pitch and yaw.
