Spring network models are being developed to facilitate the analysis and design of structural concrete components and systems. Concrete is represented by rigid particles which are inter-connected by elastic springs. Spring fracture equates to discrete cracking along the particles boundaries. The network geometry is defined by the Voronoi diagram associated with a randomly generated set of points (i.e. nuclei of the Voronoi cells.) These nuclei define the computational degrees of freedom and are distributed so as to maximize isotropy with respect to potential crack direction A novel method is given for calculating stresses in th rigid-particles-spring network. Reinforcement is modeled discretely and can be positioned in the structural model irrespective of the local geometrical features of the network. Concrete-reinforcement interfacial behavior is lumped into nonlinear links positioned along the reinforcing components. Network generation, the positioning of reinforcing components and links, and the assignment of linkage properties are all highly automated. The practicality of this approach is demonstrated through analyses of reinforced concrete deep beam.
고령의 전위된 족관절 골절 환자의 술후 방사선학적 결과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 연구

목 적 : 관혈적 정복술을 시행한 60세 이상의 비개방성 족관절 골절환자에서 수술 후 방사선학적 결과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 60세 이상의 비 개방성 전위성 족관절 환자로 관혈적 정복술을 시행한 51례를 대상으로 하였다. 수술 후 평균 16개월에서 술 전 환자의 연령, 성별, 골절의 분류, 골절 전위정도, 골 취약성을 해부학적 정복 그룹과 비 해부학적 정복 그룹으로 나누어 골절의 방사선학적 검사 결과와 연관관계를 t-test을 이용한 통계학적 방법으로 검증하였다. 결 과 : 성별과 골 취약성이 방사선학적 검사 결과에서 해부학적 정복 여부와 통계적 유의성(p<0.05)이 있었다. 결론 : 고령의 족관절 골절의 수술적 치료 후 방사선학적 검사 결과에서 해부학적 정복 여부는 환자의 성별과 골 취약성에 의해서 영향을 받는다. Object : This study investigated to know the factors affecting the radiological results of the ankle fracture after open reduction and internal fixation over the age 60 years. Patients & Method : Open reduction and internal fixation on patient with closed displacement ankle fracture over 60 years were studied in 51 cases. Statistical analysis by t-test was used to assess the factors affecting to the post-operation radiological results among the age, sex, classification of fracture, the degree of fracture displacement, bone fragility between anatomical reduction group and non-anatomical reduction group in average 16 months, Results : There are statistical significance(p<0.05) of the sex and bone fragility in post-operation radiological results. Conclusion : The radiological results in old age with ankle fracture is affected by sex and bone fragility in open reduction & internal fixation.

Objective. To estimate the cardiovascular (CV) and gastrointestinal (GI) risks of etoricoxib in the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) compared to a placebo and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Methods. A systematic review of randomized, controlled trials (RCTs) of etoricoxib were performed. Bayesian network meta-analysis was used over a duration of 12 weeks. The incidence of CV and GI events for a duration ≥26 weeks were also tabulated and presented using descriptive statistics. Results. From this search, 10 studies were identified. Of these, 6 and 5 RCTs that measured the CV and GI events at 12 weeks were included in meta-analysis. They showed that etoricoxib did not increase the CV events compared to the placebo or NSAIDs during the 12 week period (odds ratio [OR]=0.59 compared to celecoxib, OR=0.89 with ibuprofen, OR=0.70 with placebo, and OR=2.16 with naproxen). The risk of GI events was comparable to that of most comparators, with the exception of naproxen, which had a significantly lower risk of GI events (OR=0.18) during the 12 week period. For a duration ≥26 weeks, the incidence of CV and GI events with etoricoxib increased with increasing duration. Conclusion. Etoricoxib is an alternative short-term treatment option for OA, showing comparable CV and GI complications to other NSAIDs. Nevertheless, further studies will be needed to elucidate the long-term safety of etoricoxib in the treatment of OA. (J Rheum Dis 2017;24:293-302)

First described in 1930 as a lipoid granulomatosis, Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare histiocytosis encompassing a group of disorders caused by overproduction of histiocytes, a subtype of white blood cells. This disease most commonly involves the bones and can affect organs in the abdomen; however, biliary involvement is rarely reported. We report a case of ECD with biliary involvement, which rendered it difficult to radiologically distinguish ECD from immunoglobulin G4-related disease.

Rheumatoid nodules are the most common extra-articular presentations of rheumatoid arthritis. Although rheumatoid nodules can develop anywhere in the body, they develop most commonly in the subcutaneous region, where they are easily exposed to repetitive trauma or pressure. However, an infrascapular presentation has not yet been reported. We report a case of giant bilateral rheumatoid nodules that developed in the infrascapular area, complicating its distinction from elastofibroma dorsi on radiological examination.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Multifunctional properties of nanomaterials becomes a hot topic in nano research for the development of multifunctional devices, because modern devices need multifunctional platform for the high efficient plural performance on a single device. Here, we introduce a multifunctional π-conjugated poly (3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) nanotube (NT), showing controllable optical and electrical properties through the control of doping level. P3MT NTs were electrochemically synthesized in the low temperature (−40 °C) on the nanoporous template. The change of doping level by post cyclic voltammetry (CV) treatment on the P3MT lead the variance of polaron/bipolaron band, resulting into the drastic change of ultraviolet-visible absorption and photoluminescence properties. While P3MT NTs before CV treatment show an ohmic behavior in the current-voltage characteristics, those after CV treatment show high photocurrent. From the field emission experiment, the P3MT NTs before CV treatment have a relatively low turn-on electric field and stable electron emission property compared to the P3MT NTs after CV treatment. This shows that the π-conjugated polymers should be shed new light on their multifunctionality for the potential application to the multifunctional platform of opto-electronic nanodevices.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Poly (3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) nanotubes (NTs) are successfully fabricated. </LI> <LI> Photoluminescence and photocurrent of the P3MT NTs are controlled in terms of doping level. </LI> <LI> Doped P3MT NTs exhibit superb and stable field emission properties. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-1 (KOMPSAT-1) has been developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) with the aid of TRW and will be launched on the December 21, 1999 at the Vandenberg Air Base in CA, U.S. Now, the satellite application group in KARI is preparing for the service with the KOMPSAT-1 satellite data. For the purpose of supplying good service to the users, data application planning has to be established before launching satellite. To use satellite data effectively, KARI makes a plan for data policy, data price, mission planning, and commercializing strategy. This study was carried out with the purpose of effective use of satellite data. For this purpose, KARI, first, made 60 user groups to use KOMPSAT-1 data for public welfare and research sectors. These user groups include government, public corporations, institutes, and universities. KARI will offer the service to users through online using Internet. Secondly, KARI made a policy for the priority of KOMPSAT-1 missions. These are classified by the mission priority, payloads, and operational states etc. Thirdly, KARI will make data policy and data price of KOMPSAT-1 based on the basic master plan. Especially, data price will be determined at the KOMPSAT-1 committee including Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). KARI is also trying to commercialize the data with the domestic and foreign companies to expand the use of KOMPSAT-1 data in the industries sector. Afterward in this study, KARI will continue the improvement for the effective distribution of KOMPSAT-1 data for all users.
