        A Comparative Study on the Efficacy of Zea mays L. Extracts as a Natural Ingredient in Cosmetics

        In this study, Zea mays L., which were discarded after harvesting in Korea, were collected and used for experiment. The Zea mays L. were dried in the shade and ground before being extracted using two solvents. Subsequently, DPPH, ABTS, the total flavonoid content and the total polyphenol content were measured to analyze antioxidant activity. The diameter of clear zone was measured by using the paper disc diffusion method. The results showed that the ethanol extract had a slightly higher antioxidant and antibacterial activity. The total polyphenol content was measured using gallic acid as standard, and CE(ethanol extract) was found to contain $31.2{\pm}5.2mg\;GAE/g$ of polyphenols, indicating a considerably high activity. When DPPH radical scavenging ability was measured, CE was found to have $4.6{\pm}0.9%$, $6.4{\pm}0.5%$, $22.9{\pm}0.6%$ and $83.2{\pm}0.2%$ at different concentrations of $1{\mu}g/mL$, $10{\mu}g/mL$, $100{\mu}g/mL$, and $1,000{\mu}g/mL$, respectively, with a dependent tendency at the concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$ and a considerably high activity at the concentration of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$. This study is expected to be used as preliminary data to develop new natural antioxidant, antibacteria raw materials, as only little research has been undertaken on Zea mays L., which are mostly discarded after harvesting, while many studies have been so far conducted on corn and corn silks. 국내에서 재배되는 옥수수의 수확 후 버려지는 잎을 수거하여 음건하고 분쇄 한 후 실험에 사용하였다. 두 가지 용매로 추출 후 DPPH, ABTS, 총 플라보노이드 함량, 총 폴리페놀 함량을 측정하여 항산화 활성을 분석하고, Paper disc diffusion method 로 clear zone의 직경을 측정 하였다. 그 결과 에탄올 추출물이 모든 항산화활성과 항균활성에서 다소 높은 결과를 나타내었다. Gallic acid를 표준물질로 하여 총 polyphenol 함량을 측정한 결과 CE는 $31.2{\pm}5.2mg\;GAE/g$로 높은 활성을 보였고, DPPH radical 소거능 측정 결과 CE는 1, 10, 100, 1,000 (${\mu}g/mL$) 농도에서 각각 $4.6{\pm}0.9%$, $6.4{\pm}0.5%$, $22.9{\pm}0.6%$, $83.2{\pm}0.2%$로 나타나 농도 의존적 경향을 보였으며 1,000 (${\mu}g/mL$)에서는 매우 높은 활성을 보였다. 지금까지 옥수수와 옥수수 수염에 대한 연구는 많지만 페기 되는 잎에 대한 연구는 없어 본 연구가 새로운 천연 항산화, 항균 효능을 가진 원료개발의 기초 자료가 될 것으로 판단된다.

        감광성 CNT 페이스트를 이용한 IED 폭발물 제거로봇 탐지전극 형성에 관한 연구

        In this study, two important requirements for the home production of a robot to detect and remove improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are presented in terms of the total cost for robot system development and the performance improvement of the mine detection technology. Firstly, cost analyses were performed in order to provide a reasonable solution following an engineering estimate method. As a result, the total cost for a mass production system without the mine detection system was estimated to be approximately 396 million won. For the case including the mine detection system, the total cost was estimated to be approximately 411 million won, in which labor costs and overhead charges were slightly increased and the material costs for the mine detection system were negligible. Secondly, a method for fabricating the carbon nanotube (CNT) based gas detection sensor was studied. The detection electrodes were formed by a photolithography process using a photosensitive CNT paste. As a result, this method was shown to be a scalable and expandable technology for producing excellent mine detection sensors. In particular, it was found that surface treatments by using adhesive taping or ion beam bombardment methods are effective for exposing the CNTs to the ambient air environment. Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) plots were obtained from the electron-emission characteristics of the surface treated CNT paste. The F-N plot suggests that sufficient electrons are available for transport between CNT surfaces and chemical molecules, which will make an effective chemiresistive sensor for the advanced IED detection system.

        경로당 시설에 대한 체크리스트 개발과 평가

        This research tried identifying the current status of Gyongrodangs to find solutions to the problems of the oldest old through revitalization of the existing senior centers. With 31 national and public Gyungrodangs in Seocho-gu, Seoul as research subjects, the research contents include a survey of the facilities including main exit doors, living rooms and lounges, kitchens, and rest rooms in the Gyungrodangs by the checklist, and as the research tool a laser finder, measuring tapes and cameras were used. The checklist was used as the research method to investigate main exit doors, living rooms and lounges, kitchens, and rest rooms. Based on the research result, the following conclusions are presented. The safety-related items of the public Gyungrodang facilities were reaching a critical level. They need to equip emergency exit routes, install exit lights and alarm bells, and teach how to use them. After that, the issue of rest room would be raised; the oldest old had difficulty in using the rest room with no consideration of universal design(UD), so installation of grab bars is needed around toilets, washstands and urinals. Besides them, although absence of the western style furniture without consideration of users` ages caused inconvenience of using, there are no solutions due to the limited space. Unnecessary equipment such as treadmills which only occupy spaces without users should be thrown away and replaced with the furniture people would use like tables with supplement of furnitures to lie down and rest. Overall, the current Gyongrodang Facilities lack systems and need standardized management, in which the checklist this researcher developed and used in evaluating the present conditions could be recommended. It is expected that the evaluation system of senior centers would be arranged through this checklist, so that systematic service supply could be possible in the better facility environment.

        Specialized fashion shopping centers started having their own differentiated features by being compared with home shopping and online companies in keen competition. Because of their merit in the side of price, as ‘+α’, specialized fashion shopping centers made a huge fashion town differing from Myeongdong, the entrance of Ewha Womans University and Apgujeongdong. Social demand for sale facilities by an increase in leisure and cultural activities has been expanded and, also in commercial space, changes are being demanded. With ‘FUN’ and ‘UNIQUE’ which are elements to attract young people, specialized fashion shopping centers such as ‘Shimo-Kitazawa’is being changed to a multicultural space where young generations can visit at all times. As you can see in changes of fashion distribution environment, examining consumers’changes in purchase environment, consumers after 2000 are polarized and have diverse desire for goods purchase by combining online with offline, reasonable consumption with emotional consumption and luxury with pragmatism. However, currently clothes stores of more than 90% within specialized fashion shopping centers still form their stores in a way of emphasizing only simple display. In modern society, consumption plays a role as a kind of symbol as well as of buying goods simple. Space has an effect on all senses including sight. Therefore, when space experience is completed, we are moved by space through synthesized images. By communicating with customers and inducing total experience from customers, formation of sympathy makes a foundation to be connected with customers’desire for purchase. Namely, stores making customers use physical elements the most easily and conveniently and satisfying customers with them when customers visit the stores will be chosen from customers by making goods stood out among stores selling similar goods. Kang Sung-Joong and Kwon Young-Geol argued that interaction design in space depended on, first, how much use and function of space had an effect on users efficiently, second, how much information required to customers’use of space was delivered to customers efficiently and, finally, not causing problems in use of physical elements forming space. Therefore, I will design two stores planned to be an interactionspace design to satisfy an increase in sale and facilitation of consumption in the side of sellers and emotion and shopping convenience in the side of consumers.

        개인, 교육기관, 사회적 변인이 사이버대 재학생의 중도탈락의도 결정에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 사이버대학생의 개인적 변인, 교육기관 변인, 사회적 변인이 중도탈락의도 결정에 미치는 영향을 알아봄으로 사이버대학생의 중도탈락동기를 낮추고 학업 지속 환경을 조성하는데 기초 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 A사이버대학에 재학생을 대상으로 편의 표집법(convenience sampling)을 이용하여 2009년 4월 1일부터 5월 31일까지 500명에게 설문을 의뢰하였다. 수집된 336명의 자료 중 응답내용이 불성실하다고 판단되거나 중다반응으로 유효하지 않은 자료 총 32명 응답분량을 제외하여 본 연구에서는 총 304부를 분석에 사용하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS for Winow 15.0을 활용하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 개인의 흥미변인이 중도탈락 의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 교육기관 환경적 변인이 중도탈락 의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회적 환경변인이 중도탈락 의도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 개인, 교육기관, 사회적 변인이 사이버 대학생의 중도탈락 의도에 미치는 영향 중 개인 변인만이 통계적으로 유의미하게 중도탈락 의도를 결정하지 않게 하는 데유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data for lowering cyber university students' dropout rate and fostering continuous learning environment through understanding that cyber university student's private variance, an education institute variance and social variance have the impact on a student's determining dropout. For this, we selected students in A cyber university and carried out surveys for 500 students from April first to May 31st, 2009 using convenience sampling. We excluded answers whose results are considered to be insufficient or overlapped among answers of 336 students and used 304 answers in this study. We carried out logistics regression analysis using SPSS for Winow 15.0 for data analysis. First, it proved that individual interest variance affects the dropout. Second, it turned out that educational institute's environment variance has impact on the dropout. Third, it proved that social environment factor affects the dropout. Fourth, only individual variance among individual, an educational institute and social variance has meaningful impact on the dropout in terms of statistics
