N/A The crystalline structure of chitosan fiber has been investigated to become chitin type crystalline structure by the increment of the degree of N-acetylation applting acetic angydrede in aqueous methanol. The critical degree of N- acetylation to maintain chitosan type crystalline structure was shown to be about 44% of the N-acetylation and to be converted to chitin type when the degree of N-acetylation of chitosan reached to 525. The fiber of chitosan type crystalline structure was also found to solvent system for chitin, even when degree of N-acetylation was around 44%, This conversion woule suggest following morphological composition of N- acetyl glucosamine residues that there is block of N-acetylated glucosamine residues among random distribution of glucosamine residues in chitosan molecule.
Disorder in the Cubic Phase of PbHfO3 by High Energy Synchrotron Radiation Diffraction
Yoshihiro Kuroiwa,Akikatsu Sawada,Hiroshi Fujiwara,Hitoshi Kawaji,Tooru Atake 한국물리학회 2005 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.46 No.1
The electron charge density distributions of PbHfO3 in the cubic phase have been investigated in association with the antiferroelectric phase transition, by analyzing high-energy synchrotronradiation powder diraction data by the maximum entropy method (MEM)/Rietveld method. The Pb atom is found to be ionic and disordered in the h100i direction. Clear covalency is observed on the Hf-O bonding. The charge density distributions around the O atom are extremely anisotropic, and are extended in the directions perpendicular to the Hf-O covalent bond. These structural characteristics are observed both at 500 K near Tc (= 476 K) and at 700 K far above Tc.
National Health and Aging Policy Program in Brazil: Considerations for the Future
Douglas Mori,Yuki Sawada,Hiroshi Sumii,Akemi Karia,Satoshi Imaizumi 한국노인복지학회 2011 International Journal of Welfare for the Aged Vol.25 No.-
Recently, the notable increase in longevity and decrease in birthrate have changed the demographic profile of Brazilian people. Good health requires harmony coexistence condition expression between Health Care System and the Brazilian Society. In order to provide good quality of life to their citizens, the state and Federal governments of Brazil have shown some concerns for the elderly health care and are setting up some public programs and policies to provide Social Security and Health Care Programs for the elderly. These programs and policies are called the Elderly Statute and the National Health Policy for the Elderly Person. The aim of this study is to to review the scientific literature on these programs/policies and examine the government actions that will directly affect the health care of the elderly.
A Study of the Regional Disparity in the Supply of Long-term Care Services in South Korea
Hyeon Kyu Seon,Hiroshi Sumi,Yuki Sawada 한국노인복지학회 2011 International Journal of Welfare for the Aged Vol.25 No.-
According to an investigation by the Social and Welfare Institute of Korea (1998), among 3,535 Korean older adults, 86.7% of those over 65 years of age had at least one chronic disease, and 92.5% of those over 74 had one or more chronic diseases such as osteoporosis (43.4%), heart disease (29.2%), and hypertension (23.5%). The three leading causes of death in Korea were blood circulation related diseases such as stroke and hypertension (29.7%), cancers (19.4%) and accidents (14.9%). The top two leading causes of death, along with other chronic conditions such as osteoporosis, impact activities of daily living (ADL) for many Korean older adults****. These trends bring needs for long term care policy network such as long term care insurance and care worker training. In Japan, there are a number of information delivery and payment source. For instance, there are a few sources from local government for new business so that they are exempt from initial step cost. Since the long-term care insurance scheme for the elderly was especially introduced in 2008, the subsequent impact on overall rates of utilization and expenditures need to be more fully understood.
Atomic Replacement Effect on Electron Charge Density of Perovskite Oxides
Yoshihiro Kuroiwa,Akikatsu Sawada,Eiji Nishibori,Hiroshi Tanaka,Jimpei Harada,Makoto Sakata,Masaki Takata,Shinobu Aoyagi 한국물리학회 2003 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.42 No.IV
Charge density distributions of cubic SrTiO3 have been investigated related to the atomic replacement eect on the phase transition, by analyzing the synchrotron-radiation X-ray powder-diraction data by the MEM(Maximum Entropy Method)/Rietveld method. The chemical bonding natures between constituent atoms in cubic SrTiO3 are compared with those in cubic BaTiO3 that we investigated previously at the same temperature. The Characteristic charge density distribution around the O atom, which may present a clue what kind of phase transition occurs in the cubic perovskite oxide, is found in SrTiO3.

Purpose: The International Organization for Standardization-5fluorouracil (FU) 10 trial found that bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin was not inferior to S-1 in the treatment of gastric cancer (GC). Continuous 5-FU and the rapid injection of 5-FU have different anti-cancer effects. Thus, bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin treatment might be useful for oral FU-resistant GC. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of all patients with S-1 or capecitabine-resistant, unresectable, or recurrent GC treated with bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin between January 2010 and December 2015 at Hokkaido University Hospital. The bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin regimen consisted of intravenous l-leucovorin (250 mg/m2/2 h) and bolus 5-FU (600 mg/m2) administered once weekly followed by a 2-week rest period; each cycle was repeated every 8 weeks. Results: A total of 14 patients were identified. The disease control rate was 35.7%. The median progression-free survival was 1.6 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.3~2.0 months), and the median overall survival was 6.3 months (95% CI, 4.7~7.9 months). No patient died from treatment-related causes. The most common severe adverse event associated with bolus 5-FU and lleucovorin was neutropenia, which occurred in 21.4% of patients. Conclusions: Bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin treatment might be useful for oral FU-resistant GC. We are planning a multi-center prospective phase II trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bolus 5-FU and l-leucovorin treatment for pre-treated unresectable or recurrent GC to confirm the results of this limited, retrospective study.
