This study’s aim is to examine Residential College education. To achieve the goal, the authors analyzed the data collected at a university RC in 2019. Major findings were as follows: First, the RC system has an effect on enhancing core competencies and students’ satisfaction. Next, the RC faculty’s competency was found to be associated with core competencies and students’ satisfaction of RC. The study’s results show that universities should focus on developing RC programs for linking core competencies with improving students’ satisfaction. The RC faculty must make efforts to show their distinctive competency for RC.

Information demands are fast rising, and today's computer system servers need to serve as many users and as many kinds of applications as possible, Therefore, a clustering system is mainly the internal structure of a server. Technically the server needs to be designed to load balance well. In this paper, a new clustering scheme is suggested for easy construction and maintenance of a server using Java Management Extensions. Recent Java technologies such as J2ME, J2EE, JMX, Jini and JDMK made it possible to integrate existing system functionalities based on the Java technology. Moreover, the adoption of application servers based on EJB technology speeds up rapidly. Recently, the demand of supporting on-line multimedia contents which have multiple terabytes size data increases. To address this problem, a clustering system which interconnects multiple computers with moderate price range seems to be very popular as an alternative to a single, high performance server. Experiments show that our system is easy to construct, expand, and load balance well even for dynamic situations of node additions, deletions, and malfunctions.

<P>A laser-induced breakdown spectrometer (LIBS) was developed for determining the elemental composition of individual airborne particles. The system employs two lasers focused on a narrow beam of particles. A continuous wave laser placed upstream scatters light from particles, while a pulse laser downstream ablates the particles. The scattered light from the upstream laser is used to trigger the downstream pulse laser, resulting in more accurate hitting of the particles than a free-firing laser system without the triggering signal (i.e., constant pulse laser firing). Various laboratory-generated aerosols (NaCl, MgCl2, KCl, and CaCl2) were used to evaluate the newly developed LIBS system. Particles were tightly focused into a center line with a sheath air focusing system using an optimum aerosol-to-sheath air velocity ratio. The locations of both the scattering laser and pulse laser beams were precisely controlled by a motorized X-Y stage controller. Data showed that for the LIBS with the triggering system, the hitting efficiency (%) of particles (200-600 nm) significantly increased (e.g., 350 nm particles had more than 26 times higher hitting efficiency at 1,000 particles/cm(3)), and much lower limits of particle size (similar to 200 nm) and number concentration (<100 particles/cm(3)) were achieved compared to the free-firing laser condition. Additionally, the hitting rate (hits/min) significantly increased with the triggering system. Our results suggest that the LIBS with the triggering system can be useful for real-time detection of elements of particles existing at low number concentrations (e.g., atmospheric particles) and for the determination of the variation of elemental composition among particles.</P>

In this paper, we present a method of finding the position and direction of a robot by recognizing pillars using LRF(Laser Range Finder). We propose the novel method of segmentation and filtering of the LRF data and detection pillars using RANSAC. And this method has been being applied to robots opperated in Tommorow City[1].

데이터 증강은 데이터 불균형 문제를 해결하기 위해 일반화 성능을 향상시킨다. 이는 과적합 문제를 해결하고 정확도를 높이는 데 도움을 준다. 과적합을 해결하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 분할 마스크 라벨링을 자동화하여 효율성을 높이고, RoI를 활용한 분할 Copy-Paste 데이터 증강 기법을 제안한다. 본 논문의 제안 방법을 적용한 결과 YOLOv8 모델에서 기존의 분할, 박스 Copy-Paste 데이터 증강 기법과 비교해서 쓰러진 사람 객체에 대한 정확도가 10.2% 증가함으로써 제안한 방법이 일반화 성능을 높이는 데 효과가 있음을 확인하였다.

For the development of new anticonvulsive agents. r-vinyl GABA(vigabatrin) and GABA mimeties derivatives were covalently coupled as potential dual acting prodrugs and evaluated for their anticonvulsive activities. Among the prepared com-pounds. 11 showed the most potent anticonvulsive activity, a shorter onset time and a broader spectrum compared to vigabatrin. ⓒ 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
Synthesis, Characterization and in Vitro Identification of $N^7-Guanine$ Adduct of 2-Bromopropane

Recently, we have reported that 2-bromopropane might have an immunotoxic potential in rats when exposed for 28 days. In the present studies, the possibility of 2i-deoxyguanosine abduct formation by 2- bromopropane was investigated in vitro to elucidate molecular mechanism of 2-bromopropane-induced immunosuppression. $N^7-Guanine adduct$ of 2'-bromopropane (i.e., $N^7-isopropyl$ guanine) was chemically synthesized and structurally characterized by analysis of UV,$^1H-NMR,{\;}^{13}C-NMR$, COSY and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry to use as a reference material. Incubation of 2'-deoxyguanosine with an excess amount of 2-bromopropane in PBS buffer solution, pH 7.4, at $37^{\circ}C$ for 16 h, followed by a thermal hydrolysis, produced a detectable amount of $N^7-isopropyl$ guanine by an HPLC and UV analysis. The present results suggest that 2-bromopropane might form a DNA adduct in $N^7-position$ of 2'-deoxyguanosine at 3 Physiological condition.
