Urethral prolapse in female patients is a characterized by the protrusion of the urethral mucosa through the external urethral meatus. It is a rare pathological condition that generally occurs in prepubertal black girls and in postmenopausal white women. We experienced a case of urethral prolapse in a 12-year-old girl at Pohang hospital of Dongguk University. The clinical characteristics and treatment of the urethral prolapse are discussed with references.

Background: Anemia was known as a powerful and independent predictor of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The development of anemia during hospitalization for acute myocardial infarction was frequent and was associated with an increased long-term mortality. It has been reported that a decline of hemoglobin concentration during intensive care unit stay in ACS patients without bleeding events was powerful predictor of clinical ischemic events. However there were limited datas available if the decreased hemoglobin level is related to major adverse cardiac events (MACE) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in ACS patients. Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 211 patients from March 2003 through October 2009. The inclusion criteria was patients diagnosed stable angina or ACS and underwent PCI. Patients were free of blood cell transfusion or bleeding events after PCI. All patients had been checked hemoglobin level 1 day and 2 days after PCI. The 1-year incidences of MACE, including death, myocardial infarction (MI), target vessel revascularization (TVR) and stent thrombosis (ST) were evaluated in all patients included. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0. The association between hemoglobin changes and MACE was analyzed with ANOVA. Results: Participated patients were composed of 167 males and mean age was 60.31±10.72. Number of patients diagnosed stable angina were 63, unstable angina were 53, non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were 47, and ST segment elevation MI were 42. Initial hemoglobin level was 12.0 to 17.7 g/dL (mean value 13.64±1.19). Hemoglobin change was from -4.1 to +1.8 g/dL 24 hours after PCI and from -4.0 to +1.8 g/dL 48 hours after PCI. Hemoglobin change on 1day after PCI had no significant relation with mortality, subsequent MI, TVR, and ST (p=NS). And hemoglobin on 2day after PCI also had no relation with mortality, subsequent MI, TVR, ST (p=NS). Conclusions: In patients underwent PCI, hemoglobin change day 1 and day 2 after PCI was not related to MACE in stable angina and ACS patients. Therefore routine hemoglobin follow-up after PCI is not needed if patient has low risk of bleeding.

Cydia Hübner is a large genus in the family Tortricidae, including over 230 described species worldwide (Brown, 2005) and mainly in the Holarctic region. Nine species of the genus reported from Korea. We found a new species of Cydia feeding on the cones of Picea jezoensis (Siebold et Zucc.) Carrière in Mt. Deogyu. The adults and the early stages of Cydia picicola sp. nov. are described and illustrated from Korea. The life history and larval feeding habits are briefly discussed.
Overview of insect biodiversity in the Northeast China:Lepidoptera

The Northeast of China, which covers an area of 124'1400 km2, comprises HeiLongjiang, JiLin, LiaoNing province, and northeast of inner Mongolian. The annual mean temperature is 5 centigrade below zero in the north, and 10 centigrade above zero in the south. The annual precipitation range from 300 mm to 1200 mm. Moreover, northeast China is an important forest area in China, and hundreds of forest disease and pests occurred every year. Among these pests, the Lepidoptera account for a big part, accordingly, the research on diversity of Lepidoptera is the basis of taxonomy and pests control. According to 「List of Chinese Insects」(Hua, 2005), there are about 20,692 species in China, and 2,934 in Northeast China, for instance, Noctuidae 1,400 spp. (Hua, 2005), Notodontidae 128 spp. (Hua, 2005), Tortricidae 267 spp. (Hua, 2005), Pyralidae 146 spp. (Hua, 2005), Geometridae 233 spp. (Zheng, 1999), Hesperiidae 54 spp. (Zhou, 2000), Parnassiidae 32 spp. (Zhou, 2000), Papilionidae 26 spp. (Zhou, 2000), Pieridae 59 spp. (Wang, 1998), Nymphalidae 188 spp. (Zhou, 2000), Lycaenidae 150 spp., etc. (Wang, 2002).

Ligand-receptor clustering event is the most important step in leukocyte adhesion and spreading on endothelial cells. Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) has been shown to enhance leukocyte adhesion, but the molecular event during the process of adhesion is unclear. To visualize the dynamics of ICAM-1 movement during adhesion, we have engineered stable Chinese hamster ovary cell lines expressing ICAM-1 fused to a green fluorescent protein (IC1_GFP/CHO) and examined them under the fluorescence microscopy. The transfection of IC1_GFP alone in these cells was sufficient to support the adhesion of K562 cells that express $\alpha$L$\beta$2 (LFA-1) integrin stimulated by CBR LFA-1/2 mAb. This phenomenon was mediated by ICAM-1-LFA-1 interactions, as an mAb that specifically inhibits ICAM-1-LFA-1 interaction (RRl/l) completely abolished the adhesion of LFA-1* cells to IC1_ GFP/CHO cells. We found that the characteristic of adhesion was followed almost immediately (~10 min) by the rapid accumulation of ICAM-1 on CHO cells at a tight interface between the two cells. Interestingly, ICI_GFP/CHO cells projected plasma membrane and encircled approximately half surface of LFA-1+ cells, as defined by confocal microscopy. This unusual phenomenon was also confirmed on HUVEC after adhesion of LFA-1* cells. Neither cytochalasin D nor 2,3-butanedione 2-monoxime an inhibitor of myosin light chain kinase blocked LFA-1-mediated ICAM-1 clustering, indicating that actin cytoskeleton and myosin-dependent contractility are not necessary for ICAM-1 clustering. Taken together, we suggest that leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells induces specialized form of ICAM-1 clustering that is distinct from immunological synapse mediated by T cell interaction with antigen presenting cells.
Predictive factors for success of chronic atrial fibrillation after DC cardioversion

Background: Rate control and rhythm control was recommended strategy for patients with atrial fibrillation(AF). Cardioversion, pharmacologic agent and catheter ablation was done to achieve sinus rhythm. Cardioversion and pharmacological conversion are appropriate option. We evaluate predictive factor for success of atrial fibrillation after DC cardioversion Methods: 137 patients with chronic AF to undergo cardioversion reveived serial monophasic (100, 200, 300 up to 360J)shock or serial biphasic(100, 150, up to 200J) shock. Results: 105 of 137 patients was restoration to sinus rhythm. Restoration group used more beta-blocker (29.8 vs 6.3%) and more amiodarone(32.7 vs 12.5). And enlarged left atrial dimension(4.70 vs 4.48 mm), more elderly(58.7 vs 53.9), higher body mass index(BMI, 25.3 vs 23.8) was associated to sinus conversion. Age(p=0.01), BMI (p=0.03), beta-blocker(p=0.009) were independently associated with outcome by multivariate analysis. Conclusion: DC conversion to sinus rhythm for patients with AF is associated with more elderly, higher BMI and used beta-blocker patients.

Background: Few data are available concerning head up tilt table test (HUT) outcomes in unselected populations in the elderly. The aim of this study was to compare the elderly with younger patients in a large number of consecutive patients with unexplained syncope who underwent nitrate-potentiated head up tilt test. Methods: Consecutive outpatients with history of recurrent unexplained syncope underwent HUT by being tilted to 60 degree after supine position for five minuntes. The test was potentiated by the administration of isosorbid dinitrate spray 20 minutes after that. The frequency of syncope occurrence and hemodynamic responses during the passive and nitrate phases of HUT were evaluated; symptoms preceding HUT-induced syncope were recorded with heart rate and arterial blood pressure values. Results: 311 (46.9%) of 633 patients were positive. The positive results showed 39.5% in those aged ≥60 years (n=215), 45.2% in the age of 36-64 years (n=272) and 58.5% in the age of ≤35years (n=176). The patients experienced HUT positive results almost after using isosorbid dinitrate spray(95.1%), and average time to syncope was 33 minutes after HUT started. HUT positive patients had increased pulse rate more than older age groups. Conclusion: The rate of nitrate-induced syncope was more frequent in younger patients. In younger patient with HUT positive, heart rate was more increased in the passive and the active phases than the one in older patients.
