      • Wheeling Charge Reflecting the Transmission Conditions based on the Embedded Cost Method

        This paper proposes a practical and devised method for designing the wheeling charge based on the embedded cost method. In setting up the wheeling charge, one of the most important items is recovering the invested cost. Because the marginal cost method has the disadvantages regarding the above point, the embedded cost method is focused in this paper. By applying the proposed method, the wheeling charge that reflects the use of transmission systems not only gives an incentive for the efficient operation of power systems but also achieve the recovery of the invested cost by electric utilities. In order to verify the proposed method, several simulations have been conducted on the IEEE 30-bus test system.

      • Live Exhibitions in the Classroom with Mathematical Software

        Generally, we have “Intensive Course” for undergraduate and graduate students in any universities in Japan. We give credit hours with lectures of four or five days and reports. For students, it is a good system for getting new knowledge from professors of different universities intensively. In this article, I want to describe my experiences of intensive courses with mathematical software and the effectiveness of the live exhibitions in the classroom.

      • Effect of Aft-deck Length on the Performance of Serpentine Nozzle

        Serpentine nozzle has been widely utilized in many types of aircraft to minimize the infrared radiation emitted by high temperature parts and exhaust systems. Annular mixer was used in the infrared suppressor of exhaust system to mix the cold outside air with hot gases from the engine. The most important parameters can evaluate the performance of the nozzle with lobed mixer include mixing effectiveness, pressure loss, and pumping performance. A central plug is used at the exit of the lobed nozzle to penetrate the primary stream in the nozzle. In this study a numerical investigation of flow characteristics of the serpentine nozzle with lobed mixer was conducted. The flow characteristics such as velocity, temperature, pressure of the lobed mixer were studied. The three-dimensional model of the serpentine nozzle was used in the simulations that carried out using Star CCM software. The grid system com-posed of 8,364,993 polyhedral cells. Hot gases enter the nozzle through the core that treated as stagnation inlet at a pressure and temperature of 45023 Pa and 811.8 K, respectively. While, the cold air at pressure and temperature of 48963 Pa and 334.8 K, respectively enters via the bypass that considered as stagnation inlet. The outlet of the nozzle was treated as a pressure outlet subjected to atmospheric pressure and temperature. The nozzle body was considered as adiabatic walls with no-slip boundary conditions. The results showed that the increasing aft-deck decreased the temperature inside the nozzle and at exhausted gases that reduced the infrared temperature.

        일본 수산물시장의 구조 변화와 전망

        高度成長期の水産物市場を槪括すれば, 産地等の場外流通化の動きは出てきたものの, 賣市場を核とした市場流通がなお强力だつた期間と位置づけることができる. しかし, 一方では産地にみられる新たな動きを「旣存流通秩序の綻び」として位置づけ, いわば「流通多元化」時代の到來前夜でもあつたと言える. 1970年大中葉以降の日本經濟は低成長期に轉がしたが, 活魚消費に代表されるとおり水産物消費はさらに多樣化し, 「流通多元化」が一層, 鮮明·複雜化した. 本稿の課題はこの「旣存流通秩序の綻び」「流通多元化」が今日に至る20年餘で, どのように進展し, どのような流通秩序を形成しているのかを明らかにすることと, その關連で流通機構の變容が價格形成メカニズムをどのように變質させているのかを提示刷ることにあつた. 水産物流通において新たな消費者ニ-ズの對應として注目すべき動きが開始されているがその一 つは水産物取り扱いの專門性を高めた一部量販店にみられる現代版産直であつて, もぅ一つは産地と直接取引はするが取引リスクのへッジとして賣會社を利用するという, いわゆる提携型流通である. 前者は各産地の高品質水産物を安定的に, 量販店と産地出荷者側が「っまみ食い」する形態であり, 後者は實質的な取引交涉は量販店と産地出荷者側によつて行われているが, 代金決濟·物流據點といつた機能面で賣市場が利用され, 賣會社が「後始末」を報酬とする形態である. 賣市場の將來を豫測する際, 最も重要な視點は「地域」であると思う. 全國には生鮮水産物消費の根强い西日本地域, 加工品消費の强い東北·北海道地域と嚴密には消費構造に違いがある. 生鮮水産物消費の根强い九州地域では消費者にきめ細かくサ-ビスを提供する家業的な鮮魚小賣店が一定水準以上殘存することが豫想され, それを仲がサボ-トしさらにその仲をが支援するという形態 が今後も社會的意義を有し, 逆に東北地域では大手量販店主導の小賣サ-ビスが强化され, それを賣會社が直接對應するという形態が鮮明化するものと思われる. 今後の賣市場は各地域で多樣化する小賣構造とその競爭構造に規定されて, 東北型の市場流通や九州型の市場流通という地域特性に沿つた生き殘り方策を追求するであろうし, 地域流通ツステムが地帶別に構築され, 賣市場機能も多樣化するものと思われる. 今後の日本の流通機構は, 地域住民のきめ細かなニ-ズに對應した各地域の流通システムをさらに高度に磨き上げ, モこに生き殘りをかけるという方向に進むであろら.

      • An Instance-Oriented Modeling Method for Shipbuilding Applications

        Data in one Product Model for shipbuilding is inevitably referenced and manipulated during each phase of design or production activities, and data or manipulation status naturally varies from the original with the advance of each activities. For Object-Oriented approach, it is hard to identify classes dealing with those variations, and even if once a product model is developed, it might be getting much harder to modify it to cope with a new additional phase of activities. This paper proposes an Instance-Oriented Modeling Method, temporarily named “Concept-Relationship Modeling Approach”, which handles Data structure and Behavior independently of each other in order to resolve the difficulties above.

      • Memory in de Sitter space and Bondi-Metzner-Sachs-like supertranslations

        <P>It is well known that the memory effect in flat spacetime is parametrized by the Bondi-Metzner-Sachs (BMS) supertranslation. We investigate the relation between the memory effect and diffeomorphism in de Sitter spacetime. We find that gravitational memory is parametrized by a BMS-like supertranslation in the static patch of de Sitter spacetime. We also show a diffeomorphism that corresponds to gravitational memory in the Poincare/cosmological patch. Our method does not need to assume the separation between the source and the detector to be small compared with the Hubble radius, and can potentially be applicable to other Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker universes, as well as 'ordinary memory' mediated by massive messenger particles.</P>

        Experimental Investigation of Mechanical and Tribological Characteristics of Al 2024 Matrix Composite Reinforced by Yttrium Oxide Particles

        Composite materials offer distinct and unique properties that are not naturally inherited in the individual materials that make them. One of the most attractive composites to manufacture is the aluminum alloy matrix composite, because it usually combines easiness of availability, light weight, strength, and other favorable properties. In the current work, Powder Metallurgy Method (PMM) is used to prepare Al2024 matrix composites reinforced with different mixing ratios of yttrium oxide (Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>) particles. The tests performed on the composites include physical, mechanical, and tribological, as well as microstructure analysis via optical microscope. The results show that the experimental density slightly decreases while the porosity increases when the reinforcement ratio increases within the selected range of 0 ~ 20 wt%. Besides this, the yield strength, tensile strength, and Vickers hardness increase up to a 10 wt% Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> ratio, after which they decline. Moreover, the wear results show that the composite follows the same paradigm for strength and hardness. It is concluded that this composite is ideal for application when higher strength is required from aluminum composites, as well as lighter weight up to certain values of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> ratio.
