Radiation Induces Phosphorylation of STAT3 in a Dose- and Time-dependent Manner

Background: We have reported the radiation could activate STAT3, which subsequently promotes the invasion of A549 cells. We here explored the dose- and time-response of STAT3 to radiation and the effect of radiation on upstream signaling molecules. Materials and Methods: A549 cells were irradiated with different doses of ${\gamma}$-rays. The expression of and nucleus translocation of p-STAT3 in A549 cells were detected by immunoblotting and immunofluorescence, respectively. The level of phosphorylated EGFR was also assessed by immunoblotting, and IL-6 expression was detected by real time PCR and ELISA. Results: Radiation promoted the phosphorylation of STAT3 at Y705 in a dose- and time-dependent manner and nuclear translocation. The level of phosphorylated EGFR in A549 cells increased after radiation. In additional, the mRNA and protein levels of IL-6 in A549 cells were also up regulated by radiation. Conclusions: STAT3 is activated by radiation in a dose-and time-dependent manner, probably due to radiation-induced activation of EGFR or secretion of IL-6 in A549 cells.

A recent randomized and double-blind placebo-controlled clinical study bas indicated that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides (GLP) decrease blood glucose in patients with type II diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the GLP extract in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Oral administration of GLP at 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 g/kg for 4 weeks resulted in a reduction of blood glucose levels by 12.5, 18.7 and 33.7% respectively, while glibenclamide treatment brought the hyperglycemic value down to normal. The hyperglycemic effect was supported by a significant decrease in glycosylated haemoglobin and increased plasma insulin levels (p<0.01) in a dose- and time-dependent manner. This study showed that GLP has similar hypoglycemic effects as glibenclamide in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

본 연구는 중국 학교 우슈교육의 질을 중국 현지 우슈 지도자의 관점을 중심으로 하여 고찰하고 우슈교육의 질적 제고를 위해 요구되는 교육적 시도에 대해 논의하는 데 그 목적이 있었다. 중국 대학과 초 · 중등학교 교사 5명이 본 연구의 연구 참여자로 참여했으며 이들과 중국 현지에서의 심층면담을 통해 초 · 중등학교 우슈교육자들이 지니고 있는 교육자로서의 자질, 우슈교육에 적용되고 있는 교육내용, 교수 · 학습방식 및 평가 방식, 그리고 그들이 인지하고 있는 중국 학교 우슈교육의 문제점과 이에 대한 해결방안에 대해 분석하였다. 심층면담 자료의 분석 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째, 중국 공교육에서의 우슈 지도자의 자질은 전문지식과 문화 소양을 통해 판단될 수 있고 현재 중국 일선학교의 우슈 지도자들은 우슈에 대한 전문지식과 문화 소양 측면에서 만족할만한 수준의 자질을 지니고 있지 못하며 문제해결이 시급한 수준이었다. 둘째, 학교 우슈교육이 채택하고 있는 교육 내용은 우슈 기본 동작과 기본 권술을 위주로 구성되어 있으며 우슈의 중국 전통무예로서의 특성을 고려한 체계적이고 연결성 있는 교육이 교육환경과 교육자의 자질 문제로 정상적으로 이루어지고 있지 못하고 있었다. 셋째, 전통적인 교수 · 학습방법을 위주로 하며 창의적인 교수 · 학습방법을 혼용하여 활용하며 학교 우슈교육이 이루어지고 있으며 질적 평가와 양적 평가를 동시에 적용한 종합평가 방식으로 학생평가가 이루어지고 있다. 넷째, 연구 참여자들은 현재 중국의 학교 교육현장에서 제기되고 있는 우슈교육의 질에 관한 문제점들로 우슈 교육자의 자질과 전문성 저하, 시설 부족, 중국의 전통무예 교육에 대한 정책 혼선 등을 들었으며 그 해결책으로는 우슈교육의 실효성을 고려한 교육과정 개정과 이를 학교체육현장에 반영할 수 있는 교사 양성을 우선적으로 꼽았다. 이에 본 연구는 중국의 학교 우슈교육이 지향하는 목표를 실현되기 위해서는 우슈교육을 담당하는 교육자들의 교육 전문성 향상과 체계적이고 연속성 있는 교육을 유도할 수 있는 국가수준 우슈 교육과정이 마련되어 지속적인 수정, 보완과정이 진행되어야 한다는 결론을 도출했다. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the quality of Wushu education in public education of China with a perspective of Chinese Whushu educators and discuss how to improve practicality of school Wushu education. Methods: The present study focuses on the current Whushu educators` educational expertise, teaching contents, teaching methods, assessment methods, educational problems of primary and secondary school Wushu instructors, and solutions to problems in Wushu education. Five Wushu experts and instructors who work in the Chinese education system participated in research subjects, and conducted in-depth interviews to collect the related data. The collected data were analyzed by inductive analysis method. Results: The results show following contents: first, the educational expertise of Wushu instructors include Wushu professional knowledge and cultural qualities. But current Whushu educators` educational expertise was not reached to an ideal level. Secondly, Wushu teaching contents mainly include basic Wushu movements and basic martial techniques. However, the teaching contents could not systematically applied due to the lack of educators` expertise..Third, the teaching methods are mainly based on traditional teaching methods and creative teaching methods are utilized. Also, student assessment has been conducted by both quantitative and qualitative methods. Fourth, participants of the study highlighted the lack of educators` expertise, poor educational environment, inconsistent educational politics as constructive problems of Whushu education. In addition, they suggested designing teacher education program to improve Whushu educators` expertise and revision of national Whushu curriculum. Conclusion: Based on the results, the present study concluded that it is necessary to improve Wushu educators` educational expertise by providing continuous professional development opportunities in order to expect educational practicality. Also, systematic updating national Wushu curriculum for public education is required to positively change students` learning motivation and educational outcomes.

For a long time, CAPTCHA Recognition has been a major challenge in the field of artificial intelligence. Although there are many related technologies that can solve this identification problem, further breakthroughs are still needed. Based on the existing SSD network, this paper adds a non-block module. Compared with the original SSD network, the recognition rate of SSD + Non-local is improved from 86.12% to 88.47%.In addition, it is worth noting that the recognized character verification code consists of Arabic numerals, uppercase and lowercase English letters.
Evolution of Tensile Properties of Compacted Red Clay under Wet and Dry Cycles

Tensile strength is an important soil parameter that affects the stability of structures built on clayey soils. This paper presents an experimental study of the change of tensile properties of red clay during wet-dry cycles. Cyclic wet-dry tests were performed on compacted red clay specimens with different initial water contents and dry densities. Direct tensile tests and Brazilian split tests were then conducted on these specimens to determine the soil strengths. The effects of initial water content, initial dry density, number of wet-dry cycles, and crack rate on the tensile properties of red clay were investigated. The results demonstrate that the tensile strength of red clay is generally 1.566 times the splitting strength. Both the tensile strength and splitting strength are negatively correlated with the initial water content but are positively correlated with the initial dry density. Because of the presence of desiccation cracks, the tensile strength goes on reducing under wet-dry cycles. The tensile strength can be expressed by a power function of the initial water content, initial dry density, and crack rate. The proposed equation is useful to evaluate the tensile strength of cracked soils subjected to wet-dry cycles.

Micro-porous activated carbons (ACs) with a narrow pore size distribution of 0.4–0.6 nm and high specific surface areas (1160–1315 m2 · g-1) are prepared from environment-friendly, lowgrade potassium humate (HA-K, carbon resource) and mild activating agent potassium acetate (CH3COOK). Microstructure characterizations indicate that the introduction of activating agent CH3COOK is a key step to achieve high specific surface area and carbonization degree. These ACs contain small amount of oxygen and nitrogen, and show obvious pseudo-capacitance besides double layer capacitance. As a result, the optimized ACs achieve high specific capacitances of 311 F · g-1 and 317 F · g-1 at 0.1 A · g-1 in 2 M KOH and 1 M H2SO4 aqueous electrolytes, respectively. This sample also shows a good charge-discharge cycling stability within 10 000 cycles.
