For the prevention of marine accidents based on human factor, the risk assessment analysis procedure is proposed which consists of (1) the structural analysis of marine accident, (2) the estimation of incidence probability based on the Fault Tree analysis, (3) the prediction of ef-fectiveness to reduced the accident risk by suitable countermeasures in the specified functional system, and (4) the risk assessment by means of minimizing of the total cost expectation and the background risk. As a practical example, the risk assessment analysis for preventing <deaths in the marine fire> is investigated using the proposed method.

The deformation and dynamic behavior mechanism of submerged shell-like lattice structures with membranes are in principle of a non-conservative nature as circulatory system under hydrostatic pressure and disturbance forces of various types, existing in a marine environment. This paper deals with a characteristic analysis on quasi-periodic and chaotic behavior of a circular arch under follower forces with small disturbances. The stability region chart of the disturbed equilibrium in an excitation field was calculated numerically. Then, the periodic and chaotic behaviors of a circular arch were investigated by executing the time histories of motion, power spectrum, phase plane portraits and the Poincare section. According to the results of these studies, the state of a dynamic aspect scenario of a circular arch could be shifted from one of quasi-oscillatory motion to one of chaotic motion. Moreover, the correlation dimension of fractal dynamics was calculated corresponding to stochastic behaviors of a circular arch. This research indicates the possibility of making use of the correlation dimension as a stability index.
A Design Creation Method for Ship Configuration based on the Aesthetic Cognitive Theory

The shape of an industrial product has to be determined within the constrained conditions of keeping firmly many kinds of functional and performance requirements. On the other hand, the configuration of artistic work would be created desirably using the sense of aesthetics, even if conflicting slightly with these requirements. The development of a methodology for an aesthetic design founded on human sensitivity is becoming highly desirable in recent years. In this paper, a method of measuring beauty quantitatively for an artistic evaluation if proposed using the aesthetic cognitive theory and the optimum configuration could be found by a search using the genetic algorithm. Furthermore, an expression of optimum ship appearance can be gained as graphics.
Design of Low Power All-Optical Networks with Dynamic Lightpath Establishment

In multifiber all-optical networks, optical amplifiers are used for amplifying multiple optical signals with different wavelengths in fibers. An optical amplifier operates when any of lightpaths passes through it. Therefore, it should simultaneously amplify as many lightpaths as possible for efficiently utilizing its power. This paper proposes a dynamic lightpath establishment scheme considering the use efficiency of the optical amplifiers and the depletion of the wavelength resources in multifiber all-optical networks. The proposed scheme provides a routing and wavelength assignment strategy that reduces both the power consumption of the optical amplifiers and the blocking probability of the lightpath establishment. Through simulation experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
