Microwave Assisted Synthesis of Graphene-Bi2MoO6 Nanocomposite as Sono-Photocatalyst

        Jia-Yao Tang,Lei Zhu,Jia-Yi Fan,Chen-Sun,Won-Chun Oh 한국재료학회 2022 한국재료학회지 Vol.32 No.1

In this investigation, Bi2MoO6 deposited graphene nanocomposite (BMG) was synthesized using a simple microwave assisted hydrothermal synthesis method. The synthesized BMG nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and photocurrent analysis. The study revealed that the catalysts prepared have high crystalline nature, enhanced light responsive property, high catalytic activity, and good stability. XRD results of BMG composite exhibit a koechlinite phase of Bi2MoO6. The surface property is shown by SEM and TEM, which confirmed a homogenous composition in the bulk particles of Bi2MoO6 and nanosheets of graphene. The catalytic behavior was investigated by the decomposition of Rhodamine B as a standard dye. The results exhibit excellent yields of product derivatives at mild conditions under ultrasonic/visible light-medium. Approximately 1.6-times-enhanced sono-photocatalytic activity was observed by introduction of Bi2MoO6 on graphene nanosheet compared with control sample P25 during 50 min test.

A comprehensive evaluation method study for dam safety

        Jia, Fan,Yang, Meng,Liu, Bingrui,Wang, Jianlei,Gao, Jiaorong,Su, Huaizhi,Zhao, Erfeng Techno-Press 2017 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.63 No.5

According to the multi-index system of dam safety assessment and the standard of safety, a comprehensive evaluation model for dam safety based on a cloud model is established to determine the basic probability assignment of the Dempster-Shafer theory. The Dempster-Shafer theory is improved to solve the high conflict problems via fusion calculation. Compared with the traditional Dempster-Shafer theory, the application is more extensive and the result is more reasonable. The uncertainty model of dam safety multi-index comprehensive evaluation is applied according to the two theories above. The rationality and feasibility of the model are verified through application to the safety evaluation of a practical arch dam.

ORiginal Article : PNPLA3 rs738409 Polymorphism Associated with Hepatic Steatosis and Advanced Fibrosis in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus: A Meta-Analysis

( Jia Hao Fan ),( Ming Que Xiang ),( Qing Ling Li ),( Hong Tao Shi ),( Jin Jun Guo ) 대한간학회 2016 Gut and Liver Vol.10 No.3

Background/Aims: The recognition of a correlation between patatin-like phospholipase domain containing-protein 3 (PNPLA3) rs738409 (C>G) and the severity of liver steatosis or fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) has not reached a consensus. This meta-analysis sought to investigate with accuracy the association between the PNPLA3 rs738409 (C>G) polymorphism and liver steatosis and advanced fibrosis in CHC patients. Methods: We performed a comprehensive literature search from the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases up to December 31, 2014. Crude odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Statistical analyses were performed using Stata 12.0 software. Results: The meta-analysis revealed the severity of liver fibrosis was significantly higher in CHC patients with PNPLA3 rs738409 GG in Caucasians (versus CC+CG: OR, 2.29; 95% CI, 1.57 to 3.35; p<0.05) but not Asian populations. In Caucasians, liver steatosis was also more severe in CHC patients with rs738409 GG (versus CC+CG; OR, 4.33; 95% CI, 2.59 to 7.22; p<0.05). The sensitivity analysis indicated the results of this meta-analysis were stable and no publication bias was detected. Conclusions: PNPLA3 rs738409 (C>G) was associated with the risk of both advanced liver fibrosis and steatosis in patients with CHC, especially among Caucasian populations. Effects of American Ginseng Cultivation on Bacterial Community Structure and Responses of Soil Nutrients in Different Ecological Niches

( Fan Chang ),( Fengan Jia ),( Rui Lv ),( Min Guan ),( Qingan Jia ),( Yan Sun ),( Zhi Li ) 한국미생물생명공학회 2022 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.32 No.4

American ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) is a perennial herbaceous plant widely cultivated in China, Korea, the United States, and Japan due to its multifunctional properties. In northwest China, transplanting after 2-3 years has become the main mode of artificial cultivation of American ginseng. However, the effects of the cultivation process on the chemical properties of the soil and bacterial community remain poorly understood. Hence, in the present study, high-throughput sequencing and soil chemical analyses were applied to investigate the differences between bacterial communities and nutrition driver factors in the soil during the cultivation of American ginseng. The responses of soil nutrition in different ecological niches were also determined with the results indicating that the cultivation of American ginseng significantly increased the soluble nutrients in the soil. Moreover, the bacterial diversity fluctuated with cultivation years, and 4-year-old ginseng roots had low bacterial diversity and evenness. In the first two years of cultivation, the bacterial community was more sensitive to soil nutrition compared to the last two years. Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Acidobacteria, Firmicutes, and Bacteroidetes dominated the bacterial community regardless of the cultivation year and ecological niche. With the increase of cultivation years, the assembly of bacterial communities changed from stochastic to deterministic processes. The high abundance of Sphingobium, Novosphingobium, and Rhizorhabdus enriched in 4-years-old ginseng roots was mainly associated with variations in the available potassium (AK), total phosphorus (TP), total potassium (TK), and organic matter (OM).

Responses of Soil Rare and Abundant Sub- Communities and Physicochemical Properties after Application of Different Chinese Herb Residue Soil Amendments

( Fan Chang ),( Fengan Jia ),( Min Guan ),( Qingan Jia ),( Yan Sun ),( Zhi Li ) 한국미생물생명공학회 2022 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.32 No.5

Microbial diversity in the soil is responsive to changes in soil composition. However, the impact of soil amendments on the diversity and structure of rare and abundant sub-communities in agricultural systems is poorly understood. We investigated the effects of different Chinese herb residue (CHR) soil amendments and cropping systems on bacterial rare and abundant subcommunities. Our results showed that the bacterial diversity and structure of these subcommunities in soil had a specific distribution under the application of different soil amendments. The CHR soil amendments with high nitrogen and organic matter additives significantly increased the relative abundance and stability of rare taxa, which increased the structural and functional redundancy of soil bacterial communities. Rare and abundant sub-communities also showed different preferences in terms of bacterial community composition, as the former was enriched with Bacteroidetes while the latter had more Alphaproteobacteria and Betaproteobacteria. All applications of soil amendments significantly improved soil quality of newly created farmlands in whole maize cropping system. Rare sub-communitiy genera Niastella and Ohtaekwangia were enriched during the maize cropping process, and Nitrososphaera was enriched under the application of simple amendment group soil. Thus, Chinese medicine residue soil amendments with appropriate additives could affect soil rare and abundant sub-communities and enhance physicochemical properties. These findings suggest that applying soil composite amendments based on CHR in the field could improve soil microbial diversity, microbial redundancy, and soil fertility for sustainable agriculture on the Loess Plateau.

The Role of SlPIP1;7 in Improving Photosynthetic Efficiency, Root Water Uptake, and Salt Stress Tolerance of Tomato

        Shuya Fan,Hong Wu,Nani Han,Jianhua Jia,Jia Guo 한국원예학회 2021 원예과학기술지 Vol.39 No.6

Plasma-membrane intrinsic proteins (PIPs) play important regulatory roles in plant growth and development, and in the maintenance of water homeostasis under stress conditions. To investigate the function of SlPIP1;7 in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants, we created transgenic tomato lines in which the SlPIP1;7 gene was overexpressed or silenced. SlPIP1;7-overexpressing and SlPIP1;7-silenced plants were taller and shorter than wild-type plants, respectively. Additionally, silenced lines had a significantly narrower stem diameter than wild-type plants and severely retarded shoot and root growth, suggesting that overexpression of SlPIP1;7 enhances tomato growth. Moreover, SlPIP1;7-overexpressing plants exhibited increased salt stress tolerance, while SlPIP1;7-silenced plants were more sensitive to salt stress. SlPIP1;7-overexpressing plants showed a higher photosynthetic rate and root hydraulic conductivity, less electrolyte leakage, and less malondialdehyde and reactive oxygen species accumulation under salt stress compared to the wild-type; SlPIP1;7- silenced plants showed the opposite tendencies. These results suggest that overexpression of SlPIP1;7 promotes photosynthetic efficiency, root water uptake, and antioxidant defense in plants under salt stress, thereby imparting salt tolerance. SlPIP1;7 is thus a valuable genetic resource to enhance stress tolerance in tomato plants.

Fractionation and Characterization of ε-Poly-L-lysine from Streptomyces albulus CGMCC 1986

        Shiru Jia,Yujie Dai,Baoqing Fan,Guoliang Wang,Yuanyuan Jia,Peng Peng 한국식품과학회 2010 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.19 No.2

ε-Poly-L-lysine (ε-PLL) produced by Streptomyces albulus CGMCC 1986 was fractionated using ultra-filtration technique with 2 and 5 kDa cut-offs of membrane. The number-average molecular weight of each fraction was determined by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)method. The number-average molecular weights of the cutoffs of 5 and 2 kDa and the filtrate are 4,230.95, 3,687.80,and 1,900.82 Da, respectively. 1H NMR indicates the chemical shifts of α-H, β-H, γ-H, δ-H, and ε-H are very similar to all the fractions. Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR)spectra showed that the ε-PLL solid samples obtained by freeze-drying at pH 5 with molecular weights higher than 2 kDa take on a β-turn conformation, however, the fraction with molecular weight smaller than 2 kDa adopts random coil structure. The antibacterial test proved that the fraction between 2 and 5 kDa of membranes behaves the highest antibacterial activity than other fractions for the test strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus,Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Shigella.
