본 연구는 미디어가 개인의 인식형성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 미디어의 프레이밍 역할에 주목하고, 우리사회에서 만연해 있는 성형수술이 뉴미디어에 어떻게 드러나는지를 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 성형이라는 주제 및 성형광고가 유투브 상에서 어떻게 프레임화 되고 어떤 내용과 정보원 특성으로 구성되었는지 내용분석을 시도하였다. 연구결과 성형관련 유투브 동영상에서 성형광고가 절반 이상을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 성형광고는 일반인을 주요 등장인물로 내세워 콤플렉스 극복, 자신감 회복이라는 개인적 원인과 결과의 조망아래 성형의 이로운 점을 부각시키고 있었다. 또한 의사가 주요 정보원으로 등장하여 성형의 이점이나 특정시술의 장점들을 설명하고 있었다. 이러한 유투브 성형광고의 내용과 방법들을 현재 성형광고규제의 한 방편인 의료광고 사전심의 내용과 비교하여 연구의 논의를 기술하였다. This study examines portrayals of cosmetic surgery on YouTube. The analysis of 342 cosmetic surgery videos revealed that half of videos targeted to advertise cosmetic surgery clinics and cosmetic surgeon, who appeared to use social media in their practice, pro-actively. Most videos with advertising purpose, emphasized the benefits of cosmetic surgery, and only a small number of the videos addressed the involved risks. This study also found cosmetic surgeon appeared to be both as a main character of video and message source, but both cases addressed predominantly beneficial factors involved in cosmetic surgery. Omitting possible risks and side-effects of cosmetic surgery in advertizing, however, violates the current regulation, in a process of pre-screening medical advertisements. We discuss a potential impact on YouTube videos on shaping viewer’s perceptions about cosmetic surgery and importance of media role and regulators.

GaN nanorods were grown on Si(111) substrates by using molecular beam epitaxy. Between the substrates and the GaN nanorods, compact layers were often formed. We compared the photoluminescence (PL) spectra for samples with and without compact layers. The PL spectra from the GaN nanorods without compact layers revealed a doublet at 3.442 eV and 3.448 eV. A PL peak at 3.41 eV, often observed from GaN nanorods with compact layers, was also observed from the backside PL spectra of high-quality GaN epilayers grown on sapphire substrates, indicating that the PL peak was associated with an interfacial structural defect. Comparison of the PL peak energies of the nanowires with those of the bulk GaN indicates that the nanorods are fully relaxed. Effect of Rosuvastatin on Coronary Flow Reserve in Hypertensive Patients at Cardiovascular Risk

BACKGROUND: It has been unclear whether statin therapy directly improves coronary flow reserve (CFR) in hypertensive patients at cardiovascular risk, independent of lifestyle modification and antihypertensive medications. METHODS: In this double-blind, randomized controlled trial, we randomly assigned 95 hypertensive patients at cardiovascular risk to receive either rosuvastatin 10 mg or placebo for 12 months, in addition to antihypertensive therapy and lifestyle modification for hypercholesterolemia. Using Doppler echocardiography, coronary flow velocity in the distal left anterior descending artery was measured and CFR was calculated as the ratio of hyperemic to basal averaged peak diastolic flow velocity. The primary end point was change in CFR from baseline to 12 months follow-up. RESULTS: Low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol was changed from 157 ± 23 to 84 ± 16 mg/dL in the rosuvastatin group (p < 0.001) and from 152 ± 19 to 144 ± 22 mg/dL in the control group (p = 0.041, but there were no significant differences between the treatment groups in the changes in C-reactive protein, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and blood pressures. CFR was changed from 3.03 ± 0.44 to 3.25 ± 0.49 in the rosuvastatin group (p < 0.001) and from 3.15 ± 0.54 to 3.17 ± 0.56 in the control group (p = 0.65). The primary end point of change in CFR was significantly different between the rosuvastatin group and the control group (0.216 ± 0.279 vs. 0.015 ± 0.217; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Compared with lifestyle modification alone, addition of rosuvastatin significantly improved CFR in hypertensive patients at cardiovascular risk.
Time-Resolved Differential Reflection Measurements on Ga1-xMnxAs

We measured the time-resolved differential reflectivity, R, of Ga1.xMnxAs for x 0.05 for various excitation wavelengths and compared with the signals from semi-insulating GaAs substrates. The sign of R from Ga1.xMnxAs (x = 0.015 and x = 0.03) was negative at 295 K for photon energies larger than bandgap, which was ascribed to defect-induced absorption or a reduction of exciton bleaching. We also discuss the screening of Mn alloy potential fluctuations by photocarriers in the time-resolved differential reflection of Ga1.xMnxAs.

모바일 기반에서 콘텐츠 개발을 할 때는 단말기의 하드웨어 특성을 고려해야 한다. 즉, 단말기에 할당된 힙(Heap) 메모리 크기에 제한이 있기 때문에 많은 양의 미디어 데이터를 응용프로그램에 포함시킨다는 것은 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 이미지, 사운드, 문자열과 같은 미디어 데이터를 서버로부터 다운로드 받아 활용할 수 있는 미디어 다운로드 서버를 구현하고, 시스템 설계 시 고려해야 할 사항에 대해서 효과적인 접근 방법을 제시한다. 이로써 본 연구를 통하여 리소스 제약이 많은 모바일 환경에서 다양한 콘텐츠 개발을 가능하게 한다.
