미니멀리즘(Minimalism)이 건축과 실내에 미친 영향에 관한 연구
김문덕 건국대학교 조형연구소 1997 조형연구 Vol.5 No.-
Minimalism became powerful in 1960s in art. Interested in the art's nature and its realization, minimalism claims to return to the nature of formative factors through working procedure and minimization of the works. It avolde an artist's subjective opinion and description in a work. Minimalism which is on the extension line of modernism pursues esthetics of modernism. Simplicity, substance, space, repeatability, return, etc, characterize minimalism. Minimalism in architecture is found first in the contemporary architecture. Architects like Richard Meier, John Pawson, Tadao, Luis Barragan, etc, have employed minimalism into their works. It shows that minimalism is related with modernism, localism, and the traditional esthetics. Minimalism also affects interior design of Japan where the traditional esthetics remain strong, Spain, Englaand, France, Italy, etc. Its influences are found in the works of Kuramata Shiro of Japan, Xavier Vendrell of Spain and John Pawson of Englan. Korean architecture and interior design have been affected by minimalism too, which is meaningful in the respect that architects try to connect western esthetics with the Korean traditional esthetics.

It is not too much to say that the environment in which a human being lives is consisted of color and he lives in the middle of color. I, a researcher of this thesis, think it is important to prepare systematic color plan and to apply it to interior space which is very close to a human being's living because color is essential element to consist the created environment which is related to safety, health, and survival of a human being. Therefore, I prepared theory and standard of color plan to interior space based on the deveoped project which was focused on public area in interior space of a dormitory. I explained the importance and the need of color plan in interior space and discussed purpose and method of this study on chapter 1. introduction part. And, I debated about the meaning, characteristics and development method of color plan in interior space on Chapter 2. Also, I explained the theoretical background which especially was focused on NCS(Natural Color System) and approach to color plan of interior space on Chapter 3. On Chapter 5, I did show the development of plan which was focused on color plan of interior space for the dormitory of K university applying theory which I mentioned above to it. In addition, I explained how I interpreted functional and structural characteristics of the space under the plan and intended to prepare theoretical basis in my own way for further color plan through this process. I concluded what the desirable way in order to progress the study which combined thoery with practical matter in color plan which would fulfil in future.
